Time To Move On From Holloman?

Does Corn Elder from Tennessee count? Warran Sapp was from apopka which is a UF/FSU area. More recently Shaq from a UF/FSU area. Though I guess it depends on your definition of SEC area. Though I truly expect all examples to come back with some excuse. You already built in excuses to your statement.

I dont count Florida as SEC country and as far as elder from what I remember Tennesee and Georgia didnt go after him because they felt he was too small I think Vandy and Miss St wanted him we can win croots over those SEC guys Ohio State wanted him too I think but their not SEC we can beat them for croots too

elder was a 4 star and had tracks speed. problem was he wanted to play b-ball too. golden spoke to larranaga and was on board with it. the other schools weren't

Staff got their hopes up too much with Holloman and Smith.

All efforts on Jeudy, Harley, Dingle, Njoku and a JUCO WR

Juedy is the onethey should pull the fullest of court presses on

They got him thinking he is the next great one out of S FLorida... all he sees is $$$. no chance. Hopefully it's not too late for Pope...

LOL, you don't know, what you don't know.

you don't Juedy is a done deal to Bama? Seems like that is just complete wishful thinking on Miami's part

Two people you don't question...Tweed and Brooklyndee

DJ- Of Jeremiah Holloman, Dallas said, "It all depends on how tomorrow goes (Richt will take an in-home with Holloman on Wednesday). I talked to coach Dugans and coach Richt about it. They seem confident, but in recruiting you never know. Anything can happen. It's really us, Georgia and Tennessee, and right now I just think Georgia has a big lead on us just because those coaches are telling him he can be the next A.J. Green. But it was coach Richt that developed A.J. Green."

Fitting that UGA's coaches are taking credit for the work that Richt has done. Richt can also sell the kid on being the next Andre Johnson as well.

How about just the next Ahmmon Richards?

That as well. Richt has a plethora of players he can see be the next X. For RB's Richt can say be the next Moreno, the Gurley, etc... Same with receiver as it relates to AJ Green and as you just mentioned - Ahmmon Richards. The latter should apply the most given that this staff has helped develop to the full potential of his talent in year 1.

Coley will forever be known to me as that guy who took the ball out of Kaaya's hand in the Sun Bowl when he was probably at his hottest leading a comeback; to only use a HB pass in the snow which led to Washington St. win the game. At UGA, Holloman would be going to a guy that won't get the most out of his potential, he'd have to rely on having his own work ethic and hoping that he's able to develop his game on his own. At Miami, at least Dugans can coach.

Regardless of how much Holloman is/isn't leaning towards UGA, you never want a recruit to choose another school for a lack of trying. At least make UGA work for it.

I may be alone here and that's a okay! I want Holloman. I don't think we get him. No disrespect to our staff, until we get guys like this I'll just count them out. Now kid is deciding between UGA and Miami and possibly Tenn. it's not like he is deciding between a ******* from ant. Rogers or Tanneyhille's wife. I mean kid has great options. Who has the better opportunity? Clearly it's debatable. Smart looked out of his depth this year. If I know anything about football coaches it's this, Smart was not as bad as he looked. He is going to grow. Personally I think round one he will be like Muschamp. But he has to have more than a year. Now that OC he has is kinda garbage. If I'm a wideout do I want to play for Smart or Richt? Easy call for the Cane fan!!

These decisions are far less rational and much more emotional than we like to admit. Besides age of the recruits, it's just psychology.

Do any kind of sales and you'll see the same thing. It doesn't make sense to me personally, but it's reality.

I'm aware of that... But he's going at me since August and it's dumb at this point.

Obviously the Coaching staff was still after him, so how am I the one getting blamed for Holloman?

I don't think you're alone here. Many of us felt that Holloman (and Smith) were going to be very tough/unlikely pulls. I still feel that way.

I agree with you but would the same logic apply to Devonta Smith?

You guys really believe we'll never pull a player from an SEC area... Don't you think that's a little extreme and absolute???
I'll go with the Liberty City El hype and forward thinking. We're not being coached by Alph anymore. If we pull DJ Johnson from Cali, that's the PAC equivalent of pulling from the SEC. I bet you Coach Kul will get an SEC country d lineman in here within 2 years.

SEC country (and Miami) is a different animal than Cali in terms of bagmen, handlers, etc. - heard it directly from someone on the prior staff who recruited all over the place.

And no, of course we'll manage a top level commit eventually from SEC country that other top SEC schools pine for. You don't have to question me - look at recruiting the last 10-15 years. Countless examples of us going after kids deep in SEC country that other top sEC schools wanted and (much) more often than not, we were left hanging (even after being given a silent commitment). It happens every year. It happened with Alf, it happened with ShannC0cker.

A lot variables with Jerry, the least of it being money.

We had a shot.

There was legit interest. But the reality of things doesn't always match the idea, concept, or expectation.
Was it an issue with a package deal with his brother?

Gotcha. I never thought it was because of booster stuff. Figured they've been recruiting him harder and longer. Hopefully Richards' success opened his eyes and the very real possibility of Kiffin leaving is enough to get him to reconsider. Let's be honest, Ridley didn't set the world on fire this year by any stretch and their passing offense took a big step backwards.
