Thoughts on future roster construction / nil

Depends on what’s out there in all honesty. A bunch of threads on the qb options. I wouldn’t force someone in here similar to Emory’s level. I personally like having nil allocated mostly to hs recruiting.

What I’d like to do :

We need to do better job scouting the transfer portal for higher upside players that are productive at lower levels like ponds from jmu ( I know he followed his coach to Indiana but it’s just an example).

Right now the whole nil market is overinflated. Similar to premier soccer league teams at the top are paying outrageous prices for players that are not even stars. Players that were average at the p4 level are commanding outrageous prices. I’d like to have the approach of the teams in the middle of the pack in the premier league that make a killing signing players from lower teams that are productive.

The difference is in soccer there’s no hs recruiting like cfb. I prefer most our nil go there and load up on blue chips across the board. I actually agree on not going crazy for blue chip hs qbs with certain exceptions because of the bust rate. We do need to do everything to keep Dereon Coleman.

I know it’s an apples and oranges comparison and no one but Miami’s money to allocate just my perspective.
What's the hit rate on HS recruits? Even 4 and 5 stars only hit 50% of the time . 3 Stars ? my guess is 20%. I'd rather give NIL $$ to someone who has already proven at the college level that they can play.

We might not find another Cam… we should still be in on finding a proven quality starter.

With OJ, Damari, and Zaquan, I’d love to see another safety, proven DT or LB… But I’m not as concerned about talent levels on defense. It’s more development and coaching.

I don’t disagree with what you’re saying but look at two players currently in baron and Powell both making good nil.

Assuming that because we're not going to find another Cam Ward, that there won't be any good QB's in the Portal is a False Dilemma Fallacy.

There will without question be several QB's who are unequivocally better than Emory in the Portal, that is an undeniable fact.

Choosing not to get one of them, would be a mistake.
I can say with 100% certainty there’s a plan here. I don’t know who. But I know they aren’t jusf rolling with Emory
