Have to hope the work ethic & culture X exhibits truly connects with returning players. Tough to replace.

Just imagine hero ball coached out of Cam right now. No telling how far we go without a defense. We are going to spend because of the wins and all the young talent already here. We have to wait on what the transfers look like, but I expect a more talented, younger team next season with less wins and a less talented QB. Young means growing pains. The majority of the best talent on this team hasn't played yet. The majority is 2nd year players or younger. After the portal closes, evaluate the staff again.

That's not a cap. There's plenty of money to get players. We got the #1 QB, the #1 RB, a top #3 End and probably a top #5 WR in the portal last year with a highly rated portal center. We don't have a funds problem.

Message boards are by their nature conjectural because we all think we know more than the coaches but guessing about what the portal market will be and the money we have available are truly unknowns. Hard to speculate without those factors. I think we know what we'll be in the market for, but big question whether we can get a Tyrique Stevenson or a Dyoni Hill/Meesh Powell.

Counterintuitive, I don’t think recruiting has gone as well as people think. Where are all the explosive athletes? When is the last time we blocked a kick or took one to the house? That is where you first see those types of Athletes. If we have them, they are hiding.

You can use whatever word to describe it, but we don't have the money to buy top five NIL guys at every position. We still have to make budgetary decisions on who gets what.

Teams hardly even rush the punter anymore at the risk of a penalty.

Don’t have to. If everyone else is better. Run the ball more. Spread the ball more. More defensive stops. Means more 28-10 victories. Counts the same. But less exciting.

I agree that you should try to get t the best players possible.
I respectfully disagree that there isn't a "salary cap".....there absolutely is a "salary cap". You are capped by the amount of money you have. Some have more, and some have less, but it's not infinite, and everyone has a different number. Fortunately, we seem to have a good amount, but it's not without limits.

No1 is “without limits”. The point is you don’t have a cap that you have to stay under. You can have a bake sale where Ray Finkle’s mom contributes football cookies (laces out dan) for all I care, but you are more than able to exceed a number. If people don’t want to pay 2-3M for a QB so be it, but the point of the matter is we spent for highly rated high dollar players and we need to keep doing that for the time being. QB is not a luxury, it’s a necessity to compete. This team would likely be fighting for bowl eligibility had we not ponied up for Cam Ward. Add in Tyler Baron and you are talking some serious change, which we have committed.

Not really worried about finding a qb. Cam Ward exceeded everyone's expectations and is clearly the best qb in college, so people shouldn't freak out if we can't one this good. It's very rare to find a QB this good.

How many wrs are you thinking? I see people on here saying we need 2-3, which is absolutely ridiculous considering the young talent we have in this room. I think one reliable wr is really all we need

As far as oline, we have three locked in startes with Rodriquez, Mauigoa and Bell. I feel like we'll only need one guard to replace cooper, as I feel good about the talent we currently have at the center position


A veteran DT and Lineman would be nice. As far as dbs, it's extremely rare to find studs at this position in the portal. If the focus of the portal is upgrading the safties and Dbs, our portal class will be much smaller than people want due to how expensive they'll be

Diego Pavia didn't transfer to Vandy until mid January (no, I'm not saying he's Cam Ward. I'm saying there are options you can win with). Cam was after the first of the year. There will be PLENTY of options available at multiple positions. Let's just let it play out.

Yep, Indiana found their QB from Ohio U and Cincinnati got their QB from Indiana. Both are good QBs, so there out there u just gotta find them

unproven young talent. the younger kids barely got any run bc of the upperclassmen were so good this year.

x george and likely brown are gone.

horton is good and likely returning imo. we have ny carr and trader as next guys up. both have talent but unproven so far. im out on ray ray.
