This wasn’t an undefeated team

The team's record is more accurate than it was yesterday. I wish we got away with it, but we didn't this time. You only have so many comebacks. My knee-jerk thoughts:

- The defense is the story for me. We gave up 271 yards rushing to a team with no QB and no RB. We lost time of possession 35 minutes to 25 minutes. We gave up 9 of 14 third downs. On a critical 3rd and 18, we couldn't win up front and left someone running wide open. It was a bad day.

Here's the frustrating part: Guidry had more cards to play than his opponent, and still lost. That's not just a talent issue. I thought the defense would start creeping towards average over the last four games, but we're going in the opposite direction.

- My biggest disappointment is the defensive end position. Before the season, we all knew our secondary would be a weakness. The hope was we'd kill just enough drives with our pass rush. That hasn't panned out consistently. Zero sacks today. Pass rush opportunities were limited, but part of the reason is that the edges were so soft that Georgia Tech controlled down and distance. We just don't perform like a team with two NFL DEs.

- Cam Ward is still the best player in the country. No serious person would compare him to Dillon Gabriel. But he was off today. Missed throws early and struggled with his pocket presence. He had checkdowns available for chunk plays that he consistently turned down. He's the least of my worries, but it wasn't his best day.

- The only bright light was OJ Frederique. That's what a playoff-caliber defensive back looks like. We don't have enough of them.

- If I could bring a recent player back, it might be Jaquan Johnson. We lack a tone-setter in the back seven. The guys that know how to play aren't twitchy, and the guys that are twitchy are either injured or green. Teams are going to continue to challenge our perimeter tackling, and I don't know if we have an answer.

- I didn't mind the decisions to go for it on fourth down. That's who we've been all year. The playcalls and execution are fair to question, but I like trusting the guys who got us here.

- Elijah Arroyo is a high-round NFL pick. Difference-making speed at his size.

- We didn't have a terrible day with penalties (3-35) but it could have been more if a couple targeting calls and a facemask went the other way. This has been a problem all year.

- It's a shame that Popo Aguirre got injured, because he was playing really good football in a LB group that is taking steps backwards. Teams are continuing to take advantage of Kiko Mauigoa in space.

- I'd like to see the All-22 to see how much separation our receivers were getting. We will continue to get challenged by teams with athletic corners.

- I hate that we have to worry about other ACC teams losing. We've been here before and it always ends poorly. But we are in a strong position compared to the past. Most tiebreaker scenarios favor us.

This team needs to get value out of the bye week and handle its business. The goal remains an ACC Championship. I'm less optimistic on the defense than ever, but the offense will give us a chance. Go Canes.

“- The only bright light was OJ Frederique. That's what a playoff-caliber defensive back looks like. We don't have enough of them.”

D$ - we played a QB with less than 100 yards passing. You can’t make a judgement vs a **** QB,

I love a believe in OJ and he’s great. This wasn’t the game to judge him.

His defense held GT to 28.

Miami's O was supposed to score at least 28.
I hate this.
GT would have scored whatever they needed to today. Their plan was to do what they did, not to score 70. It was to man up the WRs, like FSU did, and to kill Miami with long grinding drives.

Hey dip**** what heisman qb gets only 4 opportunities to play offense. Gt ****ed on Guidry. 8 mins every drive and a score. But go off keep hitting the bottle and guzzling ***.
Hey dip**** Miami had 10 drives today. Who missed multiple throws, who didn’t take the easy check downs, who fumbled at the end, who runs himself into sacks? Yea the d sucks but because Ward is having a good year it wasn’t on him right? ******* ****wagging idiots on here. Glazing *** mofos.

So how is that on anyone other than Guidry. How is that on Mario. What would you have him do?
How is it not? He's the boss.

If someone on my team at works screws up, ok...it happens. If they continue to struggle, it's my job to jump in and help....either coach and support them or take away responsibilities that can damage the company until they prove they are back to par on the quality of their work.

If Mario didn't, that's on him. If he is unqualified to do that from a schematic standpoint, then there's a bigger systemic issue at hand.

My only gripe with saying this isn’t an undefeated team is this: it should be. We managed to skate by at 9-0. You have 3 games left to win that any team with ward and a significant talent advantage should win. Sure in a vacuum it’s hard to be 12-0. But this is moving the goalposts. Yet another abysmal performance from this program which we have come to be accustomed to
That's not how CF works though, and that's why most of us love it. Teams with holes lose football games to below average teams. Every week, every damned week a bad team beats a good team. You have to be great to avoid upsets.

Make the tough decision and replace him mid season. You could find plenty of HS coaches that could run the defense better. If Im not mistaken, everyone’s favorite beta cuck, Manny Diaz, actually had the balls to demote his DC and take over playcalling during the season. What’s Cristobal waiting for? ****, promote Jason Taylor to DC. DL has regressed so at least he will have something else to do.

It would be nice if it did work for us once in my lifetime. Just frustrating. I was 7 when we last won anything. Just bummed out lol

My bad captain autist. Yeah that’s cams fault the defense let tech bleed the clock. Fans like you ******* suck. Praise cam when he’s on top of the world but the ones tearing him down becuase he doesnt bring his cape to bail out the sorry *** defense.

I’m not arguing there. But we were 9-0 and now 9-1. Has a HC ever in the history of this sport fired a coordinator at that w/l. Let’s be realistic here.

I’m just not sure how you can blame Mario today. He has been good all year. Dawson and offense have been good all year. Defense has been **** all year. Well today defense has been **** again. This time it clearly bleed into our offense. So not sure how that falls HC/OC. DC has struggled all year. He’s been bailed out by the rest of the team. It finally caught up on us and him

Secondary is a mess & DL nothing special, but a pass is being given the LBs. It’s not just Kiko who couldn’t tackle a three-legged mule in space. 31 was caught out of position multiples times. Best of a sad group was 31.
Tired of excuses about lack of secondary talent. The scheme has been exposed on the edge from Game 1 to today. The idea that Guidry’s defense is still getting exposed is reason to be firef

Heisman winners don’t lose to 5-4 teams and don’t only show up for 1/2 or 3/4 of the game. How about you reread what I said ****nut. Who fumbled, who missed throws, who runs himself into sacks, who doesn’t take the easy check down when it’s wide ******* open? Go **** right off.

Fire or demote the DC when your 9-0? lol. You’d never get a coordinator to work for you again

"Teams are continuing to take advantage of Kiko Mauigoa in space."

A more accurate statement is "we are continuing to allow teams to take advantage of Kiko Mauigoa jn space" IMO
This is why I think our issues are in the X's and O's area. He's not the only LB, we have the ability to put a number of players in space to scheme against this. We are being stubborn with personnel.

Our DE are too big. There’s no quickness or speed. Can’t play a 4-3 with 3-4 ends. Bain put on too much weight and lost some quickness. They abused us running outside. On passing downs Barron is a one trick pony inside every time and we give up 3rd and 9 like it’s nothing.

Arroyo lucky to get 3 targets a game. Joke, offense is very stale. Zero imagination. Where is 24, where is 9?
They def are too big and u can see it when they get their arms/hands on the ball carrier but can’t finish the play. The DL as whole lacks athleticism and quickness. The staff has been using Mesidor and Bain as big DEs that can slide inside due to the lack of DT depth. They should be playing strictly DEs somewhere between 250-260lbs.
