This dude for real??

Who are these Corners that rumph has evaluated and we didn’t offer? I know we didn’t push for Asante Samuel jr until late in his sr year. The middle Mullen kid that’s at Indiana? I can’t think of a realistic CB target that we didn’t offer cause Banda and Manny didn’t approve of. Just stop making excuses for rumph he isn’t a people person, let him go back to high school and just coach.

Canes,
At the end of the day this all falls on Manny. Our poor CB recruiting has been consistent. What has Manny done to improve our CB recruiting? The reality is Rumph couldn’t convince 2 future first round CBs he coached in high school to play for him. When is the last time a HS coach was hired and he couldn’t get his own players to play for him in college? I’ll wait. Saban, Jimbo, Day, or any other big name coach would have made an adjustment by now.

I’m in the camp of Manny Diaz is the primary reason why cb recruiting has been a woat failure at Miami for years. Nobody wants to play under his gimmicky scheme is the real reason this debate about which coach to blame just adds to the overall problem.

You are correct....

Kids don’t want to play in our scheme and we only recruit 6 ft guys which leaves us with guys who move like 30th percentile athletes on the field

You guys are seriously arguing over which one of these dudes on the defensive staff are the shiniest ****.

All of them should be fired ASAP.
I think Banda should be recruiting coordinator. Dudes landed some good talent in his time here. Kids seem to like him. I’m just not sure he’s qualified for the job he has.

The Rumph rangers are at it again. Blaming everyone and their mom for their guys 100% failure rate. It’s not Banda’s fault Rumph can’t get laid with a wad of cash in a ***** house. The “bartender” is signing 5 star safeties but for some reason he just messes up cornerback recruiting....ONLY. Does anyone actually believe that Manny or Banda or anyone on the staff is telling Rumph “nah, we’d rather sign ZERO corners than sign the super secret corner targets you want”?

Sheesh.. y’all still arguing about this lol

DPP just came out the other day saying they’re looking for certain height in corners and then wonder why we aren’t getting some of those scrappy/gritty local 3-4 star corners.

does Rumph need to get better being a “recruiter” and “sales guy” of course he does. But he’s being told who to recruit in his CB room.

I’ll always just go back to the Asante Samuel situation... That’s all you need to know

Look, in all honesty, and with all respect to you (because I'm really replying to a bunch of other "Fire Rumph-ers"), this is the misguided myth upon which all of these asinine "anti-Rumph" threads are built.

There are no "Rumph rangers".

Even people who believe that Rumph is a decent coach/teacher and a poor recruiter are NOT advocating for his continued employment.

The HONEST DISCUSSION of Rumph is intended to figure out if Banda, Baker, and/or Diaz are also contributing to our problems. Why are certain porsters on a motherfvcking jihad to get rid of Rumph? What if we replace Rumph and keep everyone else? Why cut out a little bit of cancer while you allow the larger cancerous mass to remain?

I'm not sure why we should talk about other coaches, when we could have a perfectly good "Fire Rumph" circle jerk, right?

Feel free to find any "Rumph is great, retain Rumph" posts from 2020 if you think I've assessed this situation incorrectly.

Not a single person here that wants to replace rumph wants to keep any of the other defensive coaches except for maybe Banda because of his energy when it comes to recruiting.**** most fans want Diaz gone too.they're 2 different arguments. Not a single poster is making any excuses for Padke or Baker or Banda(coaching) but we have a little army making excuses left and right for our cbs coach who he himself admitted had to seek a therapist to help him better relate to recruits when he realized his job was on the line.

So. Then. Stop calling everyone "Rumph rangers" simply because we point out ALL of the problems on defense, not just Rumph.

Nobody has been "making excuses" for Rumph for a long time. Stop the lying.

That's the problem. The overly-simplistic "Fire Rumph-ers" can't comprehend the complexity of discussing ALL of the problems within our coaching staff. They mistakenly think that people are advocating to retain Rumph, when that is simply not happening.

Again, find all of the "keep Rumph" posts from 2020. I'll wait.

Manny can only demand as much excellence as he holds himself accountable to.

It's on all of them. Manny owns this. He's HC. Whoever else approves offers on D owns it. And Rumph owns it.

Folks need to understand, evals and selling are different processes and skills and points of failure.

Evals lead to offers. If we refuse to offer kids who don't fit a certain profile, that's an eval issue. May make sense sometimes, not others. But that issue isn't on Rumph himself - it's on the overall process to decide who gets an offer (and who doesn't).

Offers lead to selling. Once offers are out, the job of the staff is to try to sign kids. Whether you like the offers made or not, you got to sell the kids who got offers, and try to sign your share. If offers go out to kids in your pond and you can't sign any, then that's your shortcoming separate from whether you like which offers went out.

Rumph defenders were basically trying to shift attention from his failure to sell/close by claiming we put the wrong offers out. But unless we put no offers out, it's not a compelling argument. So the argument is shifting to no corners wanna come here because of Manny's scheme. But that sounds like an excuse, too. Not defending Manny's gimmicky scheme, but salesmen know how to sell. You can turn challenges into opportunities. Look at the chances to make plays you'll get. We put you out there. Kids all believe they can be the difference. His scheme may be an irritant, but it seems absurd to contend that we can't recruit corners. I'm reasonably certain a better salesman at CB/DB coach could sign corners here.

Mike Rumph seems like a solid person and was a great player here. But that doesn't make him a good recruiter, and from what has been written on these boards, he knows he isn't. So what's even the discussion? Manny's scheme is gimmicky? Check. Our CB evals have been flawed? Check. Mike Rumph isn't a good salesman? Check.

The only discussion that seems open is wtf should Manny do about it. Seems obvious: improve scheme (new DC), improve evals (process), improve recruiting at CB (new CB coach).

None of this should take from the fact that Manny Diaz is a total asshat and should be nowhere near this program.

Get him the **** outta here

I’m in the camp of Manny Diaz is the primary reason why cb recruiting has been a woat failure at Miami for years. Nobody wants to play under his gimmicky scheme is the real reason this debate about which coach to blame just adds to the overall problem.
Not buying this. Scheme needs changing but we are getting talent at every position on defense except CB lol We just pulled 2 5 star defensive players. Kids still want to play at Miami. I blame Diaz because Rumph shouldn't have been retained when Diaz took over. It's been obvious since day 1, Rumph is a liability.
