There is a scrimmage today?

Chick is going to shut so many ****ing people up this year. Never be flashy but he is a critical part of our D and he is finally physically ready to play the role he is asked. If he has a NT to help him our DL will be fine and will allow our pass rush to shine. Those DBs are ready to ball hawk.

I hope you are right. I hope he has worked on his celebration too because he is one of the worst I have ever seen after he gets a sack. ;)

He looked excellent. Best pass rusher on the field. Trent Harris isn't as good of a rusher but he looked solid in space and was always around the ball.

You just cant keep a talent like him off the field on any defense in the country let alone ours. AQM is a beast, he will do serious serious damage this year, the phenom that is Stacy Coley has really taken away a bunch of limelight from a kid that was such a huge coup in the 2013. AQM will be a difference maker this year, and next year him and Chad will finally make Miami look like Miami on defense again.
I don't get why people forgetting McCord too. We got 3 pure pass rusher studs. Tyriq,Quan and Chad.

Chick different, not a pure pass rusher. But I'm feeling a good year for him.

And I think we got 2 or 3 other pure pass rushers in Harris, Jackson, Smith in the wings. With a lot of potential.

McCord is a stud but just not on the same level though. At this point though we need as many pass rushers as possible though......
Idk about that. Feel like McCord showed flashes last year and could make the next step this year, becoming even more consistent and stronger now along with more time on field. Muhammad showed flashes too, but both were limited last season. Their roles will increase though.

I feel McCord was a stud for how limited his role was last year. 4 sacks, 3 forced fumbles and 2 ints. And this year his role is increasing by a very big amount. I'm wondering his production in a full time role this season. As well as Quan this year too, who was very limited last season.

I know McCord, Muhammad, and Chad were all top guys coming out.

Would put McCord and Muhammad in same tier. Can be great.

If anything I would put Chad on a different level than them. Chad can be elite.

Chad is truly elite. I feel McCord and Muhammad are good and can become great. But I think Chad is one of the more truly special rare players. I personally wouldn't put Tyriq or Quan in that category.

Either way. I see all 3 having the potential in them at some point in their career to pull out a double digit sack season here.

I agree Chad overall is the complete package as a DE, but I would put AQM ahead of him in terms of pass rushing skills. McCord is a stud but he is below both of them. Jerzeycane's ranking was accurate.
1)Chad
2)AQM

3)McCord

Dont take it the wrong way, McCord is a stud just not as good. I know, i know its a weird situation to have as a Miami fan, a stud like McCord just isnt in the same league as two other similar defensive players, its just another sign that 'we back'....

As of right now, I'd probably rank their ceilings as

1) Chad
2) AQM

3) Tyriq

Note the space

This I can't agree with. McCord has shown the ability to disrupt the QB as well, coming down with two ints, in limited time too. Forcing 3 fumbles and 4 sacks all in limited time.

I'm not knocking Muhamad at all. But I don't see this thing of favoriting Muhammad over Tyriq. I feel both are a very similar mold. At this point, Tyriq is more proven too.

Chad the highest ceiling obviously.

We'll see after the season. But I expect great things from both McCord and Muhammad and for Chad to impress us in some ways as well.

We'll agree to disagree.

AQM was only a freshman last year and as a freshman he looked way better than McCord did as a freshman. McCord was a soph last year, of course he was gonna look better than a kid that just showed up on campus. Dont believe just watch AQM this year when he is a soph.....

This is an extremely deep drop and a very wide angle to the QB. This is almost 9/10 a QB who steps up in the pocket. He basically just ran into a sack like Rudy right here lol

Thats called a rollout, not a deep drop....and the dude rolled out away from McCord at about 7-8 yards from the LOS, which is a normal drop depth. It takes speed to blow by a tackle like that and get to the QB the second he stops rolling out. Spin it how you want, but McCord is every bit the player AQM is and he actually has shown the flashes on the field, in games, on more occasions. Anyone who thinks he isn't on the same level as AQM, or a guy like Harris who hasn't even stepped foot in a live college game, is just speculating based on the potential they might see in the other guys. McCord has been, hands down, the best pass rusher off the edge for 2 straight seasons.

Don't get me wrong. I think both are gonna be studs and I view Chad as elite.

But McCord looked good as a freshman too and was slightly more productive as a freshman than Muhammad.

But one note I will add, I believe Muhammad has better size than McCord did in the same stages of their career, where Muhammad could have a more productive season as a sophomore than McCord did as a sophomore, because he won't be as limited on snaps and formations due to to size. That I could definitely see.

Everyone has their opinion, but that's what I see.

But I really feel your selling McCord very short, McCord was very limited on snaps last year and made the most of it, 4 sacks, 2 INTs and 3 forced fumbles on limited snaps is great. Let's remember,he's playing full time this year, so he will have even more opportunities.

By this logic, shouldn't McCord look better as a JR than AQM does as a Soph? Wouldn't that make Tyriq better than AQM, right now? I think AQM is going to have a big year and I love his and Chad and Harris' potential, but you guys are acting like McCord isn't on AQM's level even though you just admitted that Tyriq was better than him last year. So the best pass rusher last year isn't on the same level as a guy who was the second best pass rusher last year? Sounds legit.

I'm expecting a big year regardless from McCord and Muhammad on the pass rush. So I'll leave it at that, we'll agree to disagree.

I was able to attend the second scrimmage and thought Kaaya looked solid. He definitely goes through he projections. I remember one or two long passes I wish he threw but he still completed to the check downs. I would not be worried about his performance.

I attributed the sacks more towards the offensive line struggling tonight. It seemed like there were a lot of combinations they were trying out. I mean Joe Brown got a lot of reps.

I thought Yearby had a great scrimmage and was also impressed by Tyre Brady on the offensive side. On the defensive side Chick, Gaines, AQM, Perryman, Artie and Crawford all stood out.

Also Heaps was wearing an elbow brace. I was at saturday's practice and he took no hits or contact. So I assume it must be inflammation.

All in all, my impression is that the team looks improved from last year.

Gaines? Please, no no no. Please tell me he's not here still? Lol.

Thanks for the insight.

If you go the "projections," you'll find Gaines..

I haven't seen much to suggest that McCord and AQM are going to start together at OLB. Is McCord even in the mix with Armbrister and Owens?

Been reported both our in our pass rush packages in the 3-4 off the edge at OLB and also off the edge at defensive end for 4-3 and nickel situations for pass rush. Working with first team.

We're of the same mindset. I agree with you, 100%.

I just don't see how Cane fans can negate what Tyriq has actually done in games, at big moments. He got to Driskel in a 5 point game and forced the turnover that won the game. He helped destroy any chance at a GT comeback. He also got a big sack to force the punt that started the winning drive against UNC. He is on the same level as AQM, which is a good thing. Only Cane fans can knock one of their own players in order to bump up another one.

McCord was better than a true freshman AQM soley because of stats. They both looked similar in general. I expect for AQM to take over and take snaps away from McCord, whom I will call a stud once again so my words dont get twisted. We can talk all day about this and we both seem to have made up our minds here, whatever, lets discuss this again during the season, if Im wrong I will be here to admit it......

Does anyone remember when Golden called off camp like 3 practices early talking bout the defense was so jacked and he didn't want them to hurt the offense? When was this again...last season or the one before? I was so excited then they proceeded to be terrible. smh.

To be fair, the D was pretty solid the first half of the year.

I'm never falling for that again bro. Never. He was like we are ready. Everybody in tuned....ready for the season. We got raped. Our D was only good because we played cap teams. The Gators carved us up. We stop them by forcing turnovers...which I give them credit for but their putrid offense should never move the ball like that on us....ever

Linebacker Thurston Armbrister picked off a pass and returned it for a 40-yard touchdown, but the junior linebacker was not the only defensive standout on Monday night. Malik Mayweather also had an interception late in the first half, while senior linebacker Denzel Perryman delivered a loud and forceful hit on Edwards in the second half for a three-yard loss. Perryman finished the night with five tackles

He comin.....

Gus must taunt Denzel before and after practices and scrimmages. No other reason why Denzel constantly rocks him.

I'm thinking he messes up his locker, puts stuff in his shoes and helmet, hides his stuff. I don't know but Denzel must not like it.
