The Work (Post Pittsburgh)

Nice article Pete and appreciate the insights and commentary. I was at the game last night and it was a sad sight to see. Also, Golden did not appear to be having a good time and clearly had no answers. He appears to be a lost man on the sideline. You could see the pain in the players eyes as the offensive and defensive units came off the field, no solutions from the coaches. Also, on the last drive, UM started running the correct offense and had some success, even though they missed on the 4th down conversion. Golden was apparently at odds with Coley and Coley decided to run his O and they had a few words.

**Multiple people close to the program believe that this team checked out mentally after the loss to FSU and that showed with their flat performances the past two weeks. Denzel Perryman also said last night that the team got “complacent” recently. That is a major problem considering the team had lost 4 games at that point.

**There is growing uproar in the football building that Mark D’Onofrio is on his last legs at Miami, the question is will Al Golden pull the trigger? I mentioned this about a month ago, but I’m told that Golden and D’Onofrio’s relationship is not as strong as some people suggest. With Golden really feeling heat now, firing D’Onofrio could be his final option.

**Looking at the recruiting class, there are about 6 kids that Miami absolutely needs to hold on to even if there are staff changes. Dwayne Lawson, JaQuan Johnson, Jordan Scarlett, Mark Walton, Tyree St. Louis, and Charles Perry. These are all guys who can be the foundation of a class from a talent standpoint. When decisions are made with the coaching staff, relationships with these kids will be taken into consideration. James Coley needs to remain on staff regardless of what happens. He delivered this program a sign of hope with Kaaya and has surrounded him with big-time talent.

**A major positive during this season according to a source is that Brad Kaaya, Joseph Yearby, and Chad Thomas are three guys who have already established themselves as well-respected leaders in the locker-room and they will be a part of the foundation moving forward much like Duke Johnson and Denzel Perryman have been. They aren’t where they need to be from a vocal standpoint yet, but they are well on their way.

**Yesterday was in all likelihood Duke Johnson’s final home game, which is not a surprise. I’ve also been told that Ereck Flowers is also heavily leaning towards the draft. With Duke gone, the offense will be more Kaaya-centric. The loss of Dorsett hurts, but Rashawn Scott will be back and he could be in line for a big year if he stays focused as he has been during this season. Kaaya and Scott had a great connection during fall camp. Miami is also counting on a revitalized Stacy Coley next year. Losing Walford is also tough, but Larry Scott seems to be one of the best coaches on staff.

**There is some talk that UF DB coach Travaris Robinson could wind up at Auburn. That could be an interesting fit considering Auburn and T-Rob have separately gotten kids from South Florida in the past.

Haha at "thinking about replacing D'Onfrio". There should be 1 thought, fire Golden.

If not 2015 class will suck, we suck in 2016, he may then get fired, our class in 2016 sucks. Not firing him now sets the program back an additional 3 years

every single day that passes without Golden getting fired hurts this program more and more.

True statement

Right now I could see a quick turnaround but wait another year and this is a mess. 2016 is a loaded class down here. Bring in a new guy and he gets that typical recruiting bump for that class.

James ***** *** should've informed Golden at the end of last season that if he didn't fire any of his coaches that this season was solely on him. Firing assistants now is just wasting another season and puts us further behind FSU and now UF.

...UF DB coach Travaris Robinson could wind up at Auburn...

That is the worst news in the entire article. Since it is clear that the administration will give Coach Golden another year, I was still hoping that there would be an overhaul oƒ his assistants including (but not limited to) replacing Coach Williams with T-Rob.

Not surprising since he played at AU.

Media doesn't like him

Fans don't like him

Loses major recruits

Team seems divided on him

Has been crap against the acc

Hasnt had one defining win yet..in 4 years

I dont care about holding onto kids as much getting the right people in here. Sure losing some kids may set us back a little but its not a kill shot.

Having these guys running the program is. We got players now and we just finished last in the coastal

This.

A good head coach is far more important than any recruit in this cycle. Even if you lose some '16 kids, there's plenty of time to win them back if you hire the right guy.

So Pete thinks Coley needs to be retained to this staff because he found Kaaya? Newsflash young Jedi, the Offensive Coordinator has more responsibilities than just recruiting and he has done a ****** job in many of those areas. Addionaly, the jury is still out on Kaaya. We have seen this song and dance before where talented QBs come to Miami and regress due to **** poor coaching.

Any scenario in which Golden isn't fired by tomorrow, at the absolute latest, is a nightmare.

The 2015 class is average, will only get worse, and we're probably going to lose every blue-chipper other than Jaquan, Milo, and Walton regardless of what happens with Golden after another embarrassing late-season collapse.

The biggest problem from a recruiting perspective is that any uncommitted 2016 recruit we covet is going to tell Al to GTFO. No one is going to want to stick or come here to play for Golden. No one. Keeping Al destroys next season, destroys the next two recruiting classes, sends us into an offseason of ****, and wastes half of Kaaya's college career.
