The Work 9-4

hey pete. what about joseph yearby's stature or running style makes you think he's a good short yardage back? you don't want a guy who dances around or who weighs 185lbs. i think walter tucker would be a better option because he runs hard and has the power to pick up the short yards needed.

Because Yearby runs hard. He's decisive in his cuts and hits the hole with authority.

Edwards is soft and timid when he's running the ball. A back that big should be looking for contact and delivering punishment.

To add on it is not all about being a big back, I do not know where some became obsessed with big backs. You give the guy who can produce (yearby) the ball.
it has nothing to do with being obsessed it has to do with common sense. if a defense is gonna stack the line, then you're not gonna really have a hole to run through. so it makes sense to have a heavier and stronger back to push the pile. it's the same reason you don't drew brees in many short yardage qb sneaks. you don't even need a talented back, just someone who can gain a yard.yearby has loads of potential but i would not have him running dives on short yardage situations. just doesn't make sense schematically and sounds like something our inept staff would do.

If Edwards was capable of being that guy, I'd rather have him getting those carries. Edwards isn't the kind of back that can be counted on to do that as of right now.

Let's see what Yearby can do. I'd be willing to bet Tucker might even be a better option than Edwards.

Definitely down with giving Tucker more burn in the backfield. I understand he is on d because of what happened in the off-season but he is super athletic and great size.

this staff will continue their ties to jersery, just like they continue all their other trends

Wait, Tucker is on defense again?

I thought he was moved to RB/FB?

-----

Another thing on Yearby...the kid rushed for over 5k yards in Dade County football...he needs more touches.

I don't know at this point. I thought they moved him over to LB for depth.

No?

did you watch the game monday? he got taken down so easily. not saying he can't do it in the future but i don't believe he is currently built for the that role and your prototypical short yardage back shouldn't be that small. you just need a big bruiser with the power to just pick up a yard. a mike alstott type.

yet another decision that makes one shake head!!! Tucker in that role should be a no brainer with a big te as the lead blocker. Really why is this so hard!!!

Kaaya was 2-9 for 24 yds 1 INT on 3rd downs with 19 coming on the check down to Gus on the 3rd and 24.

Oline was just getting beat in the run game, especially the 3rd and shorts. It was like Louisville was much quicker off the ball.

We should abandon recruting why? Clearly Pete has some additional information, hence why he used the term "Bizarre". If we can get a Jenkins and AQM for every Hester and Olsen, I will take that. Pete was there tampering?

Recruiting Jersey hasn't been a fail. There is talent there. It's not like the staff is setting up a pipeline to New Hampshire. NJ is where their ties are and they can actually pull the Top players there, unlike other markets. A lot of the top programs (Ohio State, USC, Penn St., ND, etc) cherry pick NJ.

Jenkins, Muhammad*, and Pierre contribute and are relied on. Each recruit we sign is different, no matter where they come from. Some like to play videos games, some like to smoke weed, while others like to watch film and get better.

Jenkins and Hester went to the same High School. One gets homesick, the other gets tackles for a loss.

I like my South Florida players (highest percent of our roster), but I am not sure if a full roster of South Florida players would yield a better result.

Golden, D'Onofrio, and Coley should return every damned paycheck they've received from the University in exchange for not being sued by the University for fraud: Impersonating a Coach.

I understand why the coaches chose Kaaya over Heaps. Heaps has no future at UM. Kaaya can be developed for the future. But, I think the coaches forget that the fans don't care about the future. We care about THIS season. We care about NOW. And the coaches already lost the fan base, they won't have a future at UM if they don't win the Coastal this year.

Lol there was a thread calling golden a coward if he chose heaps. Now that kaaya is chosen and struggled like a normal freshman would, you guys can handle it lol? Get real. No one is going to be a star the moment they hit the field as a true freshman

Exactly this what the fans wanted... I never understood the "savior" mantra with the kid when no one ever saw him practice... The majority of practices and scrimmages were closed and the summaries were general as can be... We never saw the kid play but the fans wanted him as a starter... Its obvious the kid isn't ready... I'm not buying Heaps being the starter either... That guy has lost his position at 2 different institutions and transferred here and is a back up... Even with Ryan Williams I don't see a victory... The guy is decent at bet as well... Our qb position is in bad shape... Kaaya should be redshirting right now but our qb recruiting up until last year has been horrible...

I've come to realization that he is a freak athlete but not much of a football player... I don't think he has the vision to be anywhere on offense...

THIS!

Tucker the TRUCKER was running guys over in spring ball even Jamal Carter had trouble with Tucker. Track Speed and Size, he should be the short yardage guy!

I thought the D was good the just got gassed out cause they dont get help the O wasnt sustaining enough drives makes it tough plus the had to turnovers inside the 10 that the O only got 3 points i think the loss is on the coaching more than anything kaaya gets a pass because it was his first start but i thought he looked very good for a first start

Tucker, Gray, these options make sense. Therefore I expect to see Ronald Regula get all short yardage carries going forward.
