The Work 9-4

I understand why the coaches chose Kaaya over Heaps. Heaps has no future at UM. Kaaya can be developed for the future. But, I think the coaches forget that the fans don't care about the future. We care about THIS season. We care about NOW. And the coaches already lost the fan base, they won't have a future at UM if they don't win the Coastal this year.

Bottom line you don't play someone you can't win with, over 90% of the time freshman qb's in a big game on the road lose. The staff should have known this, I said it a few times on other threads before the game. 80% of our dumb *** fans are as stupid as our coaches, they were begging for Kaaya, well they got him. Even if they let him loose we were going to lose that game with him playing, he was nervous and you could see it by the poor throws.

hey pete. what about joseph yearby's stature or running style makes you think he's a good short yardage back? you don't want a guy who dances around or who weighs 185lbs. i think walter tucker would be a better option because he runs hard and has the power to pick up the short yards needed.

Because Yearby runs hard. He's decisive in his cuts and hits the hole with authority.

Edwards is soft and timid when he's running the ball. A back that big should be looking for contact and delivering punishment.

No one is Sean Taylor. No one. Matter of fact no one is anyone. DP is DP, few year you look back and say he was a great Miami LB but these kids need to be remembered with great teams to achieve greatness. That's what Sean Spence will suffer with.

As for the short yardage. ..it's on the OL. That's beating the man across from you. No scheme or anything matters if you don't.

Jerome Bettis wouldn't have found a hole the way the OL blocked all of those short yardage plays.

did you watch the game monday? he got taken down so easily. not saying he can't do it in the future but i don't believe he is currently built for the that role and your prototypical short yardage back shouldn't be that small. you just need a big bruiser with the power to just pick up a yard. a mike alstott type.

I wasn't just speaking about the Louisville game.

The staff should abandon the Jersey area completely. Waste of time and money to recruit players from there. Hasn't worked out for any player from there for different reasons. Should focus more on MD and VA area if they want to stay in the NE area.

I wouldn't abandon the Jersey area. If you think there is an athlete that can help you win, go get him. I don't care the zip code.

However, having said that, I admit to a strong bias to Florida and specifically Dade, Broward and Palm Beach.

The staff probably wont abandon the area, due to the connections Golden has there. The staff is just going to have to be extremely careful w who they recruit form there in the future. They cant afford continuous misses from the NJ area, then having to explain to higher ups/fans why. It is just bad luck with the way its turned out for players from NJ. But the totality of the failure w recruits from that area is incomparable to other areas.

Yearby had 1 touch in the game and it was a reception.

You don't need a big bruiser to get 1 yard. It just takes a competent OL and a back that runs hard.

To add on it is not all about being a big back, I do not know where some became obsessed with big backs. You give the guy who can produce (yearby) the ball.

Interesting. I know the boxscore says that but I could have sworn that kid had a carry in the game.

it has nothing to do with being obsessed it has to do with common sense. if a defense is gonna stack the line, then you're not gonna really have a hole to run through. so it makes sense to have a heavier and stronger back to push the pile. it's the same reason you don't drew brees in many short yardage qb sneaks. you don't even need a talented back, just someone who can gain a yard.yearby has loads of potential but i would not have him running dives on short yardage situations. just doesn't make sense schematically and sounds like something our inept staff would do.

He did but I think there was a holding call on the play.

Coley handicapped kaaya. Kaaya made good throws down field when he got a chance.

The more I think about it, I'm sure this has more to do with Golden. His post game interview was telling when he mentioned that they were too conservative.
