The Work 2-3

some of these arguments make no sense. all his jags were in 2011. last year he got gilbert who was all big 10, corn and griffin who were all american caliber. We have two highly regarded busts in jelani and grimble. also, dequan ivory we flipped out of no where to us from louisville and was well-regarded. unfortunately, we only seem to get dt's who can qualify but are lazy. Our academics hurt us with Stuckey who is a beast and honestly, travonte might not be coming here because of his grades and just saving face.

Most of the arguments don't make any sense on this board.

**Look for Miami to pick up a player or two after signing day. They are expected to have a couple of extra scholarships available. There is a decent chance that Brayden Lenius pushes his signing back after Wednesday. If he does that, he will most likely take a trip to Miami.

I'm over the whole picking up players after signing day bull****. Golden just needs to get it done, enough with the band aids.

Corn is a good player to pick up after NSD. As was Griffin (except we know the deal). I don't mind getting guys like this after NSD. If you are referring to the 2011 class, that is unfair IMO. The guy was here for 6 weeks and was trying to bring some kids in.

I don't mind hitting the waiver wire if we want to add a player or two. I just think Golden relies on it too much because of the misses on signing day. IMO. 2011 is an exception.

Which players are you referring too...

2011 shouldn't count IMO, he had no choice. I am all for calling Al and Co out for the issues they create but let's be fair. Who are these players that he counts on after the wire?
I already said 2011 is an exception cause he only had 6 weeks. Renfrow comes to mind, the kid from Wisconsin comes to mind. Griffin who couldn't even qualify comes to mind, Bond who couldn't handle his business and by some accounts the staff had big plans for him comes to mind. The other kid that failed to qualify as well along with Griffin. Thats just off the top of my head. Like I said, I don't mind getting kids of the waiver wire, but if Golden is relying on it to make up for his misses then it becomes a problem.

so we have extra scholies..but we can't give Woodley one cuz he can't play next season lol, this staff blows *** for real

Lol Lenius aint no JAG.

1. Because what Pete said was the we were going to get Lenius
2. Yeah, ok.

BHall is right. Did you see that footage of Lenious dunking?

I told some of the trogs on here that recruiting would begin taking a hit THIS YEAR if Dorito was not fired. that is whats happening.

F.A.G. coulda fired Dorito, apologized to the fans and players and hired a real DC and we coulda kept guys like Valentine, who could have been sold hope and change. now there is nothing but a raging inferno of a dumpster fire

I am curious what would lead you to believe Treon would want to come to UM? Miami doesnt seem to run an offense that would suit him. I dont doubt he can compete with the Qbs we have, but I could see him having success in another offense. I dont see him coming to UM just because of Family ties alone. I would like to have him just to snag a Qb from a top S FL school and away from UF or FSU. Thanks

Like I said, I don't mind getting kids of the waiver wire, but if Golden is relying on it to make up for his misses then it becomes a problem.

There are two issues:

1. How do we know these kids are being coached up?

Well Renfrow was on the bench at UVA, he was a backup here. Possibly this kid is a back up and played to the best of his ability. Gilbert (Wisconsin Kid) on the other hand did a lot more at Wisconsin than he did here. Perhaps this kid is an example of not putting a kid in the best place to succeed. I had ZERO complaints about bringing these kids in, I have a complaint about developing them and putting them in a position to succeed (thanks Jethro and Co.).

2. Waiver wire misses? I assume this is another issue.

I don't mind taking chances on kids who are iffy to qualify as long as we don't need them for the next season (i.e. Relying on either in 2013). We probably could have used both in 2013 (pass rush and elite WR target), I would have gladly welcomed them into the class if they did qualify, no one questions their quality. I am sure everyone on this site WANTED all these kids and hoped they qualified. The issue here is (like you said) RELYING on them. If Al was relying on them then shame on him.

I hope Valentine has the balls to tell Golden & Coach D that is the reason he's not going to Miami. Maybe that would bring about even the slightest change in philosophy.

He can say it all day long, it is nothing but smoke screen for the real rea$on$.

come on man. TV has been rumored for over a year to be a borderline qualifier. Now out of the blue, this kid is worried about scheme???

He's been all over the place. Remember, kid has been committed to 4 different schools in less than 2 years.

I wouldn't bring in Lenius unless he is some elite talent and it has nothing to do with Njoku.

We are bringing in Langham, Berrios and Brady. Even if Njoku is a TE, here is your depth chart.

2014 WR Depth Chart

Dorsett (Sr)
Scott (Sr)
Waters (Jr)
Lewis (Rd-So. or Jr)
Jones (Rd-So.)
Coley (So.)
Berrios (Fr)
Brady (Fr)
Langham (Fr)

That is 9 guys on the roster playing WR. How many more do you want to have on the depth chart? Starting in 2015 (should have been 2014), I would try to land the 2-3 best guys available at the position. We need elite difference makes at WR (i.e. Coley), I believe Berrios will be the same if he heals properly.

With all that said, adding Lenius would only matter if he is some elite WR. Otherwise, 9 guys is plenty.

I don't buy the "aggressive" line from Valentine. That sounds straight out of Genron's mouth. Dude has been coaching and filtering this kid from Day 1. Another kid delivered to LSU by this teen pimp.

Before the Golden/D'onofrio haters jump on me, I never liked D'onofio's hire for the simple reason that Sapp (see signature) indicated.

thought i've seen it mentioned on several occasions that he told golden and his *** boy that he wants to play in a more aggressive scheme. supposedly golden has gone out of his way to tell him they will cater to his wants/needs...but give the kid credit for seeing right through the BS...as longas golden is HC we will have problems getting DTs. 3-4 NT is one of the most difficult and unrewarding positions to play in football. The fact that its already hard to find DTs that play hard makes it amazing that golden continues to think he can go out and readily find DTs that will not only play in his system but remain motivated.

Look in the NFL...how many true, 2-gap DTs are there? you can probably count on one hand. that thread from a couple weeks back on pete carrol's willingness to go from a 3-4 to a 4-3 at USC and the immediate positive impact it had should only be made even more noteworthy by the complete domination his unit put on last night. We are all sick of the word SCHEME...i know i want to break something every time I see the **** word. But it was to be one of the most frustrating times in the history of this program right now and the only clear solution is golden publicy announcing they are switching to a 4-3.

Dude, Valentine's grades are fine. There's plenty of other reasons why he's not coming here. But grades aren't one of them.

We are changing offensive philosophy under Coley. Look at the types of QB's he has been after. SteMo couldn't do certain things that guys that we recruit currently can

The Annual Al Gorlden Tradition. Can't wait to see what DT castoffs we pickup.

Al will also sign a 5 star stud who has no chance of qualifying...anywhere.
