25 of the 33 players who comprise the 3-deep depth chart are guys who have been selected by Al Golden to represent the University of Miami football team.

The only eight players who are not "Golden guys":

Green
Robinson
Porter
Gaines
Cornelius
Cain
Rodgers
Highsmith

Dorito. Must. Go.

This Dorito thing is getting old, stale and there are only subjective answers, reasons and excuses. I don't care who the DC is, with the lack of talent on defense and the quality of players like AJ, IMO tells me Dorito needs more time and moreover better talent to prove he is good or not, too early to really tell. The expectation of patience in turning around a situation that was horrific should not be too much to ask. We should try give the guy support and a real chance with solid players. If in the next two years with the new recruiting class that is coming, if the defense is not turned around, then I will be able to support your view of Dorito and expect him to be held accountable.

Not familiar with this 3-deep term. Also of the 8 guys you mentioned, 6 have started games this year for us. Luther Robinson also plays in every game as well.

Why did you start a new thread? Not enough truth about the defense threads.

It's a scheme issue

I was a D'onofrio supporter but i see the big picture now....

you cant have a DC who strongly believes that "yards allowed" doesnt matter only scoring defense and expect to ever have an "elite" defense.

I wouldnt mind if D'onofrio left for a HC job after this season.

Stupid argument. Our senior 'leaders' have the least talent and physical limitations. The most talented guys physically are all frosh and sophs. It's not supposed to be that way. Nice try though.

Why can't it be both?

Scheme and talent?

I am more concerned with our fan base not complaining about the offense. This is what amazes me.

To the board (not the OP),

People want to know why I think posters have agendas. BECAUSE THEY ONLY BlTCH ABOUT THE DEFENSE. The offense is pretty inconsistent out there. Our offense has 10 ****lNG turnovers in ACC play. Is everyone cool with this?

So your belief is he is a bend don't break defense and don't believe that has anything to do with the talent or lack thereof?

You realize it's Al's scheme right?

No matter the DC, it's gonna be the same scheme.

I don't understand the premise of this post.

I believe that will change if we had the talent which I expect should be in full gear in 2015 JMO.

depth of talent is an issue, not talent, Miami doesnt have 5 stars at every position on the D-line but so what..... VT doesnt either yet they get after it. And their LBs are assigned to play Linebacker not safety constantly at 250LBs.

D'onofrio has Shayon Green running w/ has back turned away from the LOS 10 yards up the field to get into a bs zone that's easy to destroy.

Maybe the scheme isn't perfect but would work with better talent? And those 8 you listed...that's like most of the starting defense unfortunately.

the talent issue will always be an excuse to deflect... Miami's talent on defense went from 116 in the country last year to in the 30s this year. So we do have talent.

Miami has the talent to not let every team run 400-500 yards on you and Miami has the talent to not be one of the worst teams in the BCS when it comes to 3rd down defense.

On defense other than Tracy who is 5 star, so essentially we have one star on defense, F$Who had 5 stars at most positions and in many cases two deep 5 star players, there is no comparison in talent. Canes played hard, FSU possess all of your 5 star athletes.

Other than F$Who what other offensive juggernaut did we play, our offense and defense are average at best, the team has a tough mentality and that is a change from Radio Charmin and Larry Poker.

It is going to take two more years to really be back in the mainstream not a few weeks after NCAA cloud has been lifted.

I constantly talk about the offensive inconsistentence that I get bash for it..
