The Reality of Our Situation

He was a **** on the sidelines all game and took that same demeanour to his press conference.
I'm not mad, I saw the players played up to his energy, he was pumped, on his players and coaches after every mistake...

He's the last person I'm thinking about.

P.S. didn't he almost end up here on staff with Manny?

This game was scripted perfectly for Martinez to get 20+ carries and just play bully ball on cruise control once they went up 21-0. Somehow Fletcher ended up with more carries
Yup. 'Cuse sucks at stopping the run and #6 had been dragging guys on all his carries so far in game. Getting ball up 21-7 that was the time to play caveman ball and milk the clock, as Syracuse at the dome prolly not a game you want to get into a shootout with if you can help it.

I honestly just don't understand how every single play from Syracuse worked.
We would randomly get a TFL or Sack and then it wouldn't matter cause the next play they would get a first down.

This isn't rocket science, play cover 1 man, or cover 2 man if its that hard, and work on different offensive alignment. But dam we can't stop a nosebleed. They fart for a first down in the run game.

We had a bunch of guy on DL wanting hero play for sacks and TFLs. We need DL that want to just punch guys out cause they want to, mean mothers that no one wants to mess with on and off the field.

Mario recruited top 7 off of 5-7 and 7-6. Sure the program has 10 wins and we could be supportive.

But let’s do our competitions job for them. The program will never be good under Mario. The team was Cam Ward and also ****. We’ll be lucky to win 3 next year.

**** you soft shouldered whiny *** *******.
Worst loss lol Manny lost to ******* FIU.

How many times is Mario going to dismiss the whole defense staff. It's pretty obvious he can't hire the right folks. They needed to hit the portal for better DBs and they didn't

I said before this game that this was the most important Hurricanes football game in 22 years. With an OSU loss today, a Miami win would've clinched an ACC Championship Game and CFP Berth. No more. Here's where things stand today, emotions aside:
  • This is - without a doubt - the worst Miami loss of the Mario Cristobal Era. Miami needed to find a way to win this game and they absolutely blew it.
  • Miami started the game hot with a 21-0 lead, and followed up an elite 1Q by giving up a 42-17 run to Syracuse. Inexcusable and honestly, unforgivable.
  • Mario Cristobal has a choice to make at the end of this season regarding his defensive staff. It's an easy one: Mario should dismiss the the entire defensive staff, top to bottom. He needs to hire a proven DC and let that DC build his staff from the bottom up.
  • Lance Guidry is one of the worst defensive coordinators in Miami Hurricanes History. He is huge reason why Miami may have wasted a Heisman level QB in Cam Ward.
  • Shannon Dawson has zero feel for the game. Our offense went into a shell which gave Syracuse the opportunity to get back into the game. Whenever something is working, he flips the switch and goes away from what's proven to work.
  • Again, there is ZERO reason that any team should be able to come back down 21-0 against the best offense in the country.
  • We continue to make back breaking mistakes in the form of (1) penalties or (2) turnovers. It's been a problem the entire Mario era, and there's no sign it'll stop anytime soon. We, unfortunately, have some shortsighted and emotional players.
  • There's been a common refrain with Mario over his career: elite recruiter, but a subpar gameday coach that'll cost a team 1-3 games a year. The buck stops with Mario as HC, though he's not the primary reason for today's loss. One massive mistake though was his choice to kick the FG. We needed to go for it there; at worst we back them up.
  • This season feels much like the end of the 2017 season: a disappointing end that derailed a potentially special season. 10 wins is "progress" for the program, but with a Heisman QB and the #1 team in the country, the result is disappointing regardless.
  • Miami - amazingly - still has a path to the CFP. With losses to a 7-5 and 9-3 team, and a margin of loss of 4 and 5 points, there's an argument to be made that we are better than any of the 9-3 SEC teams. Alabama and Ole Miss have far worse losses than us. Texas hasn't beat anyone. And if Texas losses tonight and A&M losses in the SEC championship, there's a shot. Boise could also lose in its conference championship game. OSU losing also throws a wrench into seeding Nevertheless, this team doesn't deserve it.
  • The goal now is two-fold: hope for a CFP miracle, and if not, hope for a bowl win (which we haven't done in 8-years). 11-2 is progress that can be sold to recruits, as disappointing as today was.
Ultimately, this season - even if it really ended today - was "progress." However, the progress was shallow and well under expectations. We hit the bare minimum, and we did not over perform. To ever be close to elite, Miami has to consistently beat the teams they're expected to beat. We're not at that level yet - and the honest truth is - we may never be under Mario Cristobal. Mario reminds me a lot of Ed Orgeron. He's a coach that will only win with the right mix of elite talent and above average coaches.
10-2 seasons can be polar opposites.

This would a very pathetic 10-2 season.

This team literally regressed from game #1 while other coaches were giving the standard speeches of learning what they have and IMPROVING week to week. Mario talked that game and never delivered jack ****.

As I have said before he came, as great of a recruiter, it won’t matter one bit until he identifies he is Ed Orgeron part deaux, goes to the Admin and request the funds to pay the best coordinators to surround himself with….if he is smart, he finds a way to throw in $5 million or more of his money to make it happen.

Ohio state: 10-2 with losses @ Oregon & Vs Michigan (lost to top 5 opponent + a 6 win team)

Alabama: 9-3 with losses @Vandy/Tennessee/Oklahoma (2 6 win teams + a top 10 loss)

Miami: 10-2 with losses @ GT/Syracuse (both unranked)

South Carolina: 9-3 with losses Vs Alabama/LSU & @Ole Miss
(1 Unranked + 2 top 20 Losses)

Indiana: 11-1 with a loss to their only top 50 team they’ve played by 22

Going to need: Boise to keep winning, SMU to win, Texas A&M to win then lose to UGA
If SMU wins the ACC and A&M doesn't win the SEC, I think we will end up at 11 in the CFP. I just don't see any of the current 3 loss SEC teams jumping us. Each of them have at least 1 if not 2 really bad losses.

For what it’s worth we lost to above .500 teams, one that’ll be ranked next week, by margins of 4 and 5 points. Bama got blown out by 5-6 OU.
