Petrino...no thanks and no chance.
He's a no character guy and what has he really done except job hop?
Just wondering, but what are some of these desirable attributes you see in Golden?

He's a man of integrity.
It's not like he's holed up in a bunker, awaiting a decision on the Penn St job, while coaches, players, recruits, alumni, fans, and administrators remain in the dark.
Integrity.
I would be stoked with Petrino, more than any coach since Butch left. Problem is he is not viewed as a high character guy and Donna S is never going to allow it. Not sure why people haven't gotten the message yet, but Donna is not a win at all costs type. She wants a squeaky clean representative for the U especially after the debacle of the last 3 years.
As far as him being a liar etc. meh. Big deal. So is Butch, so is Urban Meyer, so is Saban and Les Miles. All these guys are shady. Recruits know Perrino is an offenive guru. They will come play for him.
If by some miracle we got BP or Butch I would do back flips.
Reality is were going to end up with Mario or CJ.

Being around him, he would be a terrible fit here. The big issue with him is how he treats recruits. The guy is flat out liar and some schools won't let him their doors.

Considering the nature of recruiting in South Florida and the personality of the typical SF high school recruits, how popular you think he will be among HS coaches, handlers, and recruits here? Even with all the "charm" that AG had and his great efforts to build bridges in SF, coaches clinics, basketball game tickets, etc...he is still criticized in some parts of the community with people say Miami coaches are "losing local recruiting base".
From all accounts, an offensive genius with no personality. Even abrasive and unlikeable by recruits. Yes, keeping good recruiters like James Coley and others will help, but as the HC he has to "close" tough recruiting battles.
South Florida recruiting is a different animal. I am not sure he is a good fit here. I know, I know people will say winning cures all but those SF recruits also have many other "winning" coaches around them to chose from.
Does anyone know if he was successful in recruiting SF before? Did any local kids play for him during his successful run at Arkansas?

Win and the recruits will come. 4 years of Bobby Petrino almost certainly gives us 2-3 years of double digit wins and one of the best offenses in the nation immediately. This program needs that as an infusion to its recruiting prospects more than they need someone to play nice with handlers.

Again, I admitted to the positive impact of winning on recruiting. But I cautioned that we will have winning programs and coaches around us who will also be pulling for those kids who may have better personalities and more likable with recruits, coaches and "moms".

Be careful you might get negged if you say anything bad about Petrino. I've been around the guy quite a few times, and even had a kid committed to him. Let's just say WKU isn't very welcomed in Tallahassee. And this is from his Arkansas days.
