The official give Bobby Petrino a second chance thread....

I am all in with Petrino. I don't care that he cheated or left a job. All coaches leave jobs, as loyalty no longer exists.

The Duke Blue Devils gave zero ***** that Al Golden is faithful to his wife when they were moonwalking up and down the field on us.

Do you want a coach or a PR guy?

Just wondering, but what are some of these desirable attributes you see in Golden?

He's a man of integrity.

It's not like he's holed up in a bunker, awaiting a decision on the Penn St job, while coaches, players, recruits, alumni, fans, and administrators remain in the dark.

Integrity.

I'm also on the Petrino Bus if Al bolts. He would be a homerun hire. Doubt it happens though. Unfortunately. Wanted Leach before Shannon and Golden. Happened neither time.

I would be stoked with Petrino, more than any coach since Butch left. Problem is he is not viewed as a high character guy and Donna S is never going to allow it. Not sure why people haven't gotten the message yet, but Donna is not a win at all costs type. She wants a squeaky clean representative for the U especially after the debacle of the last 3 years.

As far as him being a liar etc. meh. Big deal. So is Butch, so is Urban Meyer, so is Saban and Les Miles. All these guys are shady. Recruits know Perrino is an offenive guru. They will come play for him.

If by some miracle we got BP or Butch I would do back flips.

Reality is were going to end up with Mario or CJ.

THIS

She is a real liberal and as such has two sets of rules. One for her and her friends, she felates Clinton but another for everyone else. Thus Olivier Gardinho the noted pigskin philosopher is persona non grata. If only he was a politician who gave Shalala jobs she'd be all over it.

Being around him, he would be a terrible fit here. The big issue with him is how he treats recruits. The guy is flat out liar and some schools won't let him their doors.

^^^ "hollyhood27" knows what he is talking about.
Considering the nature of recruiting in South Florida and the personality of the typical SF high school recruits, how popular you think he will be among HS coaches, handlers, and recruits here? Even with all the "charm" that AG had and his great efforts to build bridges in SF, coaches clinics, basketball game tickets, etc...he is still criticized in some parts of the community with people say Miami coaches are "losing local recruiting base".

From all accounts, an offensive genius with no personality. Even abrasive and unlikeable by recruits. Yes, keeping good recruiters like James Coley and others will help, but as the HC he has to "close" tough recruiting battles.

South Florida recruiting is a different animal. I am not sure he is a good fit here. I know, I know people will say winning cures all but those SF recruits also have many other "winning" coaches around them to chose from.

Does anyone know if he was successful in recruiting SF before? Did any local kids play for him during his successful run at Arkansas?

Win and the recruits will come. 4 years of Bobby Petrino almost certainly gives us 2-3 years of double digit wins and one of the best offenses in the nation immediately. This program needs that as an infusion to its recruiting prospects more than they need someone to play nice with handlers.

Then why did Shannon get fired?

Let's not get it twisted. She wants a winning football program for a host of reasons.

I'm not sure how she got the rep as someone who's rigidly pious and won't consider any employee that has some stink on him.

Again, I admitted to the positive impact of winning on recruiting. But I cautioned that we will have winning programs and coaches around us who will also be pulling for those kids who may have better personalities and more likable with recruits, coaches and "moms".

The Petrino thing made sense...chick was a 7.

Clitnon on the other hand....Lewinski is a 3 all day (4 if she dropped 20 lbs)

We've had vary styles of the coach you described as our last 3 hires, and it is time to try something different. We are swimming in talent, bring me a guy like petrino who can dominate with meager talent as the best fit for our program. We need an Xs and Os guy at miami, desperately.

Be careful you might get negged if you say anything bad about Petrino. I've been around the guy quite a few times, and even had a kid committed to him. Let's just say WKU isn't very welcomed in Tallahassee. And this is from his Arkansas days.

****.

How will we ever recruit without that Tallahassee pipeline?

When Penn State hires Golden officially and we get that 5 million dollar buyout, does the school greedily keep that money or can we put that on top of the money we usually spend on a contract so we can FOR ONCE give a competitive contract to a good coach.

For example, Golden makes 2.4 a year.... for this contract for our new coach can we use the 5 mill from penn state and give him, say 3.5 - 4 million a year? using penn states money to foot half of the higher bill (at least for a couple years)
