The OC Candidates Thread

Some people are either conditioned to expect the worst (past 20 years will do that) or they actively root for the worst. Those two teeter on the side of the latter. Multiple comments quintupling down on their beliefs when nothing substantial has been discussed. One of them cited the WEZ and that’s all I needed to know. You might as well have cited pornhub comments for more credible information.

It’s pathetic. Grow up, Mario understands how important this OC hire is and he’s not going to rehire someone he didn’t hire in the first place. Think about our list of rumored candidates…

Frost, Ruggiero, Johns, Ludwig, Mullen, Kliff, Candle, Littrell, Coen, Brady, etc…how many of those are bro and pro style? I’m not saying there’s legs to in there because “that’s what he did in the past”.

Well guess what, he’s changing **** up. Ever thought of that? Or are people’s feeble minded brains unable to comprehend that you can change philosophies if the former failed miserably?

I mean Jesús Christ do you guys live life going through doom and gloom like this? I feel sorry for you. Have some positivity. I don’t even care if people want to label this as a slurp piece, but his passion for the university is undeniable, we have a real AD with multiple distinguished football minds surrounding him, and a ****load of funding. Keep your mouths shut til the hire is made.

With that being said, if it’s Arroyo…sure, I’ll be in there with the he’s looking for. Of the list of names you posted,
He has been the same his whole career. A tiger can’t change his stripes.

Mario has destroyed offenses and players his who career. That’s a fact and all the info is out there if you want to do your research.

Now I hope he for the 1st time changes his mindset and hire an elite OC but I’m in wait and see mode. You have no clue who he is hiring so you just have hope and a dream at this point.

Can anyone summarize?

Joe Brady is one of the most innovative minds in college football? Someone who had one solid year (as an assistant) and was never an OC?

Take a look at what LSUs offense was beforehand and take a look at what it is now.

Given how names happened last season, every public name should be crossed off the list.
Except that last year the names that came out were pretty accurate. Seems like the reason Gattis came out of nowhere was because Mario didn’t land his top choices and quickly pivoted to Gattis after the Harbaugh to the NFL rumors picked up steam and Gattis got upset that he wasn’t being considered as the replacement.

Oh also throw in the fact that they had joe burrow jamar chase, Justin Jefferson, Clyde edwards-helaire, and terrace Marshall on offense

oh and he wasn’t the play caller, no doubt involved but that’s a lot of context you guys leave out when you say “one of the most innovative minds in college football
They were also there in 2018 and they were garbage compared to that.

He installed almost all of the pass concepts that LSU ran that season, their offense was completely different from anything they ran prior and since then.

Its like people laughing at Bill O Brien without realizing that most of what New England from 2010-2019 came from his pen.

You mean when they lost 3 future nfl superstars to the draft? Yeah they weren’t as good which is why he jumped too and failed as a play caller

I think he’s good but you and your obsession with him is just wild. You leave out all relevant context of why he was in the right place at the right time and you discredit everyone but him with the success lmao

Ask him on a date and get it over with

Obsession? I just know what I talk about, you don't. Burrow and Jefferson were absolute non-factors in 2018, thats weird

Evident by your last sentence as well, no argument = "get a room", "stop sucking his ****", "he won't shag you".

We got it.

Why do people make this statement? From an interview with the LSU OC the season that Brady was there as the passing game coordinator.

"I hired Brady to come in and update our playbook, to incorporate some innovative passing concepts. On game day any time we were in a 3rd down or red zone situation I would say ' Joe it's yours' and he would take over play calling."

The results were off the charts. Brady was calling plays in 2019 ... 3rd down and red zone situations. Same QB, Same 3 primary WR's and same primary 2 RB's:

2018 season: 2970 passing yards / 17 TDs; 2257 rushing yards / 29 TDs.
2019 season: 6024 passing yards / 61 TD's; 2502 rushing yards / 32 TD's.

Brady said one of his key focuses was always having an easy check down receiver (or RB/TE) in order to be sure the QB always had an easy option to keep the chains moving. "First downs ... thats the goal .... keep getting first downs you move down the field and score TD's". I would take Brady in a heartbeat as OC.

I’m just saying he’s not the only reason for success

You are implying he’s the sole reason for their 2019 season which is just absurd

Burrow chase and Jefferson all made the superstar leap (and not solely because of a passing game coordinator)

The OC , the players, the team, Brady, etc all played into the success not just joe Brady

As a panthers fan I watched Brady be the most in-innovative play caller first hand in the nfl week after week which leads me to believe that he wasn’t the sole reason for lsu’s success

You blaming it all on rhule alludes to the fact that you’ll make any excuse for Brady because of the weird crush you have on him

It’s a ridiculous statement to say that he’s the most innovative person in college football when 1) he’s not in college football, 2) he had more talent than anyone had by far and 3) it was a one year sample size

I’m not bashing him I’m just saying the obvious that it wasn’t JUST him and that he failed afterwards

Yeah, you're right. Those facts we are looking at are just window dressing ... anybody can run an offense that puts up 61 passing TD's in a season ... while at the same time INCREASING rushing productivity.

He was quite evidently the difference maker, that is obvious on both tape and statistic.

Burrow chase and Jefferson all made the superstar leap (and not solely because of a passing game coordinator
Absolutely nothing indicated this development and yes, it was largely because these players were schemed open with plays designed by Brady. Put potential in a good scheme and great things happen.

The offense literally resembled what Baylor ran with Rhule. As soon as Rhule got canned, the Panthers offense improved with Sam ******* Darnold.

Like, I cannot make it more obvious, but theres no point. Brady sucks, hes trash, runs no RPO. We got it.

I guess ohio state and USC and Ole miss should fire day, Riley, and kiffin because they weren’t aware that joe Brady actually is the “most innovative mind in all of college football”

You guys are making a wild claim here, not me

Excited to see college football shake up when ppl come to that realization that you two are so certain of
