Official The OC Candidates Thread 2.0

I didn't say that they were all OC interviews, but Mario has definitely gone in the wrong direction of overthinking things in the last few days.

Time to throw a bag o' cash at Kevin Johns.
So you've strongly implied/said (as I recall) that a couple of candidates have accepted the position and backed out (I'm gathering within the last week?). How does the comment above mesh with those occurrences?

Given Dennis Smith’s tweet about Brian Johnson (the reference), the ridiculously long time to announce (Super Bowl), and Dan Mullen reportedly speaking with Mario early on in the process - why aren’t we just assuming it’s Brian Johnson and a Coley as WR?
Mainly because Johnson is wanted by multiple NFL teams and is also potentially in line for a promotion with the Eagles should Steichen leave.

Wellllll...it depends on what proves out to be true...

If the info I got is true...I wouldn't use the term awesome....

What's an adjective that would refer to Groundhog Day?
You must have heard Nussmeier or Chryst if the reaction is this bad.

Not to throw shade at DMoney but there is a plausible scenario in which he doesn’t know but this poster does. I mean Mario is tight on info and he said he heard this not from Miami’s side. Said he didn’t know on Guidry, he just happens to know because the connection is specific to x candidate I think?

I’m not trying to crown him or anything, I just think it’s weird for multiple grown men to immediately and incessantly attack him for a pretty blue ball and anticlimactic but realistic timeline/scenario. We’ll see if he’s right and when it’s done, he has no reason to hide any info so hopefully he shares what he knows or if he’s a troll, gets blasted away upon and never returns.
You’re misinterpreting what I’m saying or I’m not being clear. I don’t know what d$ knows. This guy can simply deposit the name with d$ for verification when the selection is announced that it’s who he said it was.

I’ll shoot my shot…

I think it’s Brian Johnson and that’s why we are waiting till Monday. He can be OC/QB coach and you bring in Coley as WR coach…

On the defensive side I have no clue

So Brian Johnson after we missed on Candle?

I’ll take it.

Got ya. Quick 5-min check through his previous posts and I think he’s legit to be honest. He called Mario back in October with Alonzo and Dorsey as OC. Cribby did confirm Dorsey was given every opportunity to get an NFL gig, but his safety net (and Mario’s #1 choice) was Miami OC.

Also called out the Nunez bs when everyone was crapping their pants, but you guys loved him then (via reactions). Also said he was a lawyer.

I went inspector mode for my sanity. Talked about Shannon being the worst HC of all time at Miami, disappeared for a few years then popped back up to talk about Golden not being the right fit at Miami. Spent some time on the recruiting board, dipped again and came back for the Manny firing/Mario predictions/search process til now.

@Andrew is there a way to code the site to where anything that is posted that contains “Heard from Miami Flo” gets ejected into outer space and the poster gets one of those boxing gloves on the springs right to the sack??

Yeah, nobody practices offense before 3 weeks before spring. You’re not allowed to look at plays. That’s the point of zero return 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Please find where I said anything about Flo. If you think there’s no benefit to the team receiving the playbook on the new offense they’re going to be installing before they actually begin practicing it then that’s on you. Mario is handling it splendidly.

@Angry Ibis , what says you?

He’s only been in the NFL 1 year and as a position coach. Not sure teams are willing to risk him as an OC yet. Maybe the Eagles take a look since he is inside their organization and they know his work with Hurts.

But does Johnson wait to see or take a sure thing with Miami (if he was offered)?

If he wants to be a play caller in the NFL one day maybe taking one step back and becoming a high profile OC at the P5 level and showing success is his ticket.

I know he was OC under Mullen but it was brief and under his shadow. Now he can fully take the reigns at Miami and do his own thing.

The intensity of the fanbase here at CIS leaves us ripe for fake insiders and misinformation during key times like this.

This pop up insider may have quality information, but the best way to validate it is to drop D$ or another trusted admin, mod or maude with the insight/background.

I believe this saves all a lot of angst including the poster with the information.

By all accounts, D$ and others here are like a vault when it comes to individual personal privacy.

Agree with this take. I’m not sure why some view it as such a stretch that he would take the Miami OC job. I’m not even sure that I would call it a step back to go from NFL QB Coach to P5 OC, especially if he turns our offense around.

I agree 100%. As a Maude, looking at his post history, he doesn’t look like a troll fwiw.
