The more I think about taking a post season ban

There is no guarantee the punishment will be ANY less severe if we self impose this year. Sure, it may help, but we did the same last year at what point is it just yeah whatever. Our supposed flawless cooperation should do more for the ncaa than us giving up the russell athletic bowl.

I think the point is that giving up the Russell Athletic Bowl is worth it to attempt to appease the NCAA further.

I repeat giving up the RUSSELL ATHLETIC BOWL!

Oh I didn't know we already lost the ACCCG. I get why you are so craven and have already accepted a second loss against FSU. They just destroyed VT convincingly tonight after we hardly beat them a week ago. Oh wait. It's the other way.

A Florida team struggling in the cold. Name a good team we beaten.

Irrelevant for $100.00.

Why play any game if we're not able to beat good teams?

Maybe we should self-impose by forefeiting the rest of the way.

I agree with this, at some point the NCAA will just have to "complete their investigation" and serve us with an NOA. If they want to take 6 more months, so be it. There are no guarantees with this stuff, we're at the NCAA's mercy.

Unless Glazier says otherwise (prior to the NOA) here we come ACCCG (if we get there).

Absolute no brainer. Take the bowl ban.

One can only laugh at a statement like this.

No facts, no knowledge of what is going on...but it is a "no brainer."

It is a "no brainer" that is why we pay a ton of money for Mike Glazier.

Great stuff!

1. We dont have to self impose as soon as we are bowl eligible.
2. If possible, wait until the NOA
3. If we make it to the ACCCG, we dont self-impose.
4. If we dont make it, then we do self-impose.

Logical, I like it.

Mostly, I agree. But, I think if we back into the Coastal at 6-6 (possible, not likely), we should self-impose.

So essentially we lose to USF and UVA and win against Duke. Not ready to go down that road but I hear what you're saying. It's hard for me to accept 6-6 at this point but you're probably on to something.

Hey Genius, you do realize that Mandel doesn't actually pick the Bowls, right? There is no guarantee that's the bowl we get, so quit crying like a little girl........

We are getting a 2 year bowl ban. No way they only give us 1, and I can't imagine that they give us 3/4. I think its a no brainer to self impose the second one this year. Those two years will most certainly count as "time served." The NCAA is not going to say, "well, you imposed 2 years. We were going to give you 2 years, so, we'll give you 2 more."

We are going to be a much better team next year. At best, we get to the ACC championship this year. And, then, does anybody think we will beat FSU in Charlotte? That is a tough task. So, we end up in a mid-tier bowl. If the NCAA imposes a second, we possibly get shut out of a big time bowl next year. And, even worse, if there is a bowl ban, some players have the option of transferring without penalty. Why open up that possibility?

You guys who think we have no chance to beat an FSU team that squeaked by VT and lost to NC St should go pull for them

SMMFH at our "fans"

Another thing to ponder. What if Miami and UNC both win out. UNC is ineligible and UM could self-impose. The Coastal rep in the ACCCG could be one foul smelling ****. If that scenario were to pan out, I wonder if the ACC might offer UM some incentive to NOT self-impose. By incentive, I mean some way to mitigate the effects of NCAA sanctions.

Just a thought.

Glad he doesn't. Because I also saw projections for the Music City and Belk bowls. I am really excited about all 3 possibilities.

There are some that would rather take the punishment now, and others that want to wait and see. I'd rather try taking the hit now.

Little girl? Like you who ran to the WEZ crying that the football board may want to take a bowl ban?

Insert pot/kettle graphic as okie pumps Miami chest like it is 2001.

Bottom line is that it is risk reward and hopefully we do what is best for the program long term.

You can pull for mighty FSU, us other canes that are a shell of 2001 will take our chances playing for the conference title against our #1 enemy, even if we have no chance. BTW, if (I know you think it's impossible) we do win that game did your hero Mandel mention what Bowl we night go to and what kind of payday it is????

Maybe, but that would involve the ACC ******** Duke out of being the very prestigious ACC Coastal champion. FSU/Duke rematch is not too exciting to the them, but not sure they ***** them out of it.

"Fans" - **** everyone that doesn't agree with you as a bad fan simply for not thinking we skate and wanting to try to better position the program for the future.

Yep. Everyone that wants to self impose really hates Miami.

Anyone afriad of FSU is the "fans" I'm talking about. You got a mirror???

/// and I like how everyone just assumes we win the Coastal NEXT year when we can win it for sure this year, lol. Also like the way you took a shot at it though with "prestigous".

What could the ACC do to mitigate the effects of the NCAA?

It is about risk/reward with the sanctions and the position of the team this year vs the future as Dapper outlined pretty well.

Sure there are the probabilities at play as to whether FSU or Miami win on Dec 1, but many are looking past that to what MAY make the NCAA sanctions go away faster.

Ideally there would be the NOA and we will be able to judge. But I am not sure that will come in time to make the best decision.
