the culture seems to be in a good spot

respectfully, two things can be true ... our culture and the desire for top line guys to play at miami has improved, yet our discipline needs work
We haven't escaped the 100th rank in penalty yards for the third year.

We can talk about discipline actually being established when it shows. And players wanting to play in a bowl game isn't necessarily discipline, it shows gratitude towards the program.

But we're a far far far way away from calling discipline a characterization that matches our football team.

Culture at Miami used to be you were scared to go back to the locker room if you slacked during PRACTICE, because the players would deal with you

Now culture is players opting into the Pop Tart Bowl and patting the Jacolby George's of the world on the back for routinely hurting the team.
your referring to 30-40 yrs ago ... alot has changed ... name a program that work in that manner

we got a heisman finalist playing in the pop tart bowl ... a top rb who should've gotten more carries playing as well ...
i'm sure you get x and jacolby now ... wouldn't be surprise if you got arroyo ...
not sure how anybody sits when your top 5 pick in the he draft is playing ...
gotta give mc credit ...

Can't imagine being an Olineman, getting some neck rizz from your Heisman finalist QB, and telling him you are sitting it out.

For as much as I want to see Cam and Martinez tear it up in the bowl game, common sense tells me this is a dumb move by all. Players opt out of bowl games all the time. Why? So that they don't fall from a Day 1 pick to a Day 3 pick and so on. Yes NIL. Yes football guys. Yes team spirit. Yes culture? I mean maybe, but @JHallCanes nailed it when he said these dudes were like this before Mario and will be like this long after Mario.

Here's the thing. We are playing in an exhibition game for all intents and purposes. It literally means nothing. Yes 11-2 looks a lot better than 10-3. This game doesn't count againt redshirt. This game is against a second tier program. This game will likely have a horrible TV share. So what does the program gain by these guys playing? Excitement one more time? 11-2? It's sort of like banging your old high school girlfriend at your 20 year reunion. Sounds fun. Feels good for a bit. Then you get that strangle scratchy feeling that reminds you why you didn't stick together....and you realize it was over. Rather than playing Cam and getting crabs, wouldn't it be better to play the young guys? Let them practice and prep like a real game week? Get some real film to assess in the offseason if these guys (ahem Emory) are worth keeping around?

I realize this post won't be popular with the guys who are dying to see Cam play. That's ok. If you peel back the emotion, most people will see the long term value in playing the backups, regardless of outcome. If you don't agree, that's ok. It just means you're stupid have a different opinion. ;)

Have an awesome day and Go Canes!
Seeing Cam play for one more time beats you having the itchies after banging your ugly old 20 year crush who looks and feels like worn leather.
Peel back the emotion..........do you think that playing 4 quarters will show that much more in a game that a lot of these players have not shown.?

Suddenly they are great players for the Pop tart bowl then revert to being JAGS all at once?...
Get outa here with that foolishness.......Game conditions do not outweigh learning a playbook and production..........
In a game or exhibition you need to show up and show out so suffer me for the chance to see a record breaking player from our U....show his stuff one last time while being FULLY INSURED for millions........go play and kick some A** boys and make memories that you will never forget.

I enjoyed watching Cam play, I wanna see what the young guys can do though. At what point do we develop our own QBs, running to the portal every year ain’t the answer
When they recruit a good quarterback.

One last game for Jacoby to headbutt someone and wonder why he’s flagged

You took what I wrote awfully personally.

Feel free to want Cam to play, but at least be honest and admit that it’s for selfish reasons. I get that. Attacking what I said to try to prop up your differing opinion is unnecessary.
