the culture seems to be in a good spot

so what do you attribute guys playing in the pop tart bowl to? honest question ... we can be disappointed and also praise improvements in the building ...
We haven't escaped the 100th rank in penalty yards for the third year.

We can talk about discipline actually being established when it shows. And players wanting to play in a bowl game isn't necessarily discipline, it shows gratitude towards the program.

But we're a far far far way away from calling discipline a characterization that matches our football team.

Difference being that is all Mario has, Cam had answers on the field.
Also I’m not saying I’m right I’m just pulling receipts on myself because it’s things I said in the past and not gonna play Monday morning QB

You think Mario is in the market for an Accountability Coach this offseason?

we lost two games, won 10, got invited to the pop tart bowl and instead of guys jumping ship, guys are talking about going 1-0 one more time and watching film to prep for the opponent ... that's culture ... and we didn't fold against either of those teams, they weren't blowouts, they were one score games ... we all disappointed, namely in the defense, but we saw this last year with the team up north and it was opt out city ... facts are facts, you can be disappointed and also give credit to improvements in the program
Lots of caring about the team up north. Who cares about how many of their players played in the bowl game? Last year they went 13-0 regular season, got screwed for the playoff and beat us on the field.

This year we beat them.

Next year is a new year. Beat them again.

"Culture" and "the right way" are buzzwords that no one wants to hear about when the team falls short. And yes, losing 2 games in November and missing the playoff with the #1 offense is falling short.

Deserve Victory

Pillars, Binders, Hamburgers, Bunkers

The Right Way is JUST WIN -- not never kneel, not 21- mari0 losses with the playoffs on the line. Period.

we got a heisman finalist playing in the pop tart bowl ... a top rb who should've gotten more carries playing as well ...
i'm sure you get x and jacolby now ... wouldn't be surprise if you got arroyo ...
not sure how anybody sits when your top 5 pick in the he draft is playing ...
gotta give mc credit ...
I'd tell Jacolby to eat a bag of ****s right after i kicked him off the team for potentially losing Miami's spot in the playoffs

This is the development thing all over again

Martinez and Ward and X were this way before Mario and will be that way long after they leave here

Our culture is still horrible in penalties and blown assignments and unsportsmanlike conducts

If they didn’t respect Mario and the culture of the program, they wouldn’t play. Don’t care who they are.

We’re not where we need to be, but no reason not to give credit where credit is due.

Especially since… if Mario fails then the football program probably fails long term also (I can’t see us get a P2 spot with Mario failing… and without Mario or a P2 spot we won’t have the resources needed to compete).

Personally I see Mario as a James Franklin-esque coach… but imo 10/11 wins will be enough to keep the program competing at the P2 level.

For as much as I want to see Cam and Martinez tear it up in the bowl game, common sense tells me this is a dumb move by all. Players opt out of bowl games all the time. Why? So that they don't fall from a Day 1 pick to a Day 3 pick and so on. Yes NIL. Yes football guys. Yes team spirit. Yes culture? I mean maybe, but @JHallCanes nailed it when he said these dudes were like this before Mario and will be like this long after Mario.

Here's the thing. We are playing in an exhibition game for all intents and purposes. It literally means nothing. Yes 11-2 looks a lot better than 10-3. This game doesn't count againt redshirt. This game is against a second tier program. This game will likely have a horrible TV share. So what does the program gain by these guys playing? Excitement one more time? 11-2? It's sort of like banging your old high school girlfriend at your 20 year reunion. Sounds fun. Feels good for a bit. Then you get that strangle scratchy feeling that reminds you why you didn't stick together....and you realize it was over. Rather than playing Cam and getting crabs, wouldn't it be better to play the young guys? Let them practice and prep like a real game week? Get some real film to assess in the offseason if these guys (ahem Emory) are worth keeping around?

I realize this post won't be popular with the guys who are dying to see Cam play. That's ok. If you peel back the emotion, most people will see the long term value in playing the backups, regardless of outcome. If you don't agree, that's ok. It just means you're stupid have a different opinion. ;)

Have an awesome day and Go Canes!
I enjoyed watching Cam play, I wanna see what the young guys can do though. At what point do we develop our own QBs, running to the portal every year ain’t the answer

Oh yeah? Does respect for Mario and the culture of the program manifest itself by selfish acts that cost the team in the most pivotal game for the program in 20 years?

Does a good culture allow this player to play all year despite an illustrious history of being a total moron and ******* the TEAM over?

Oh but we have some guys opting in guysmmm!!

Yeah I wasn’t necessarily disagreeing with you it’s just hard to tell sometimes it’s such a broad term to describe a huge operation

Cam loves Mario. Likes attract. I will say back in 2023 when we were getting commitments I said I thought the type of character kid we were targeting were different
character and intelligence. both have come a long way

you aren't wrong on that ONE guy. I don't understand why he was never disciplined.

It doesn't matter if it's one guy or one hundred guys.

Culture doesn't allow even one bad apple in the bunch. And if there is a bad apple, they are immediately dealt with by the players and/or coaches; they sure as **** aren't rewarded with significant playing time in every game.

Culture at Miami used to be you were scared to go back to the locker room if you slacked during PRACTICE, because the players would deal with you

Now culture is players opting into the Pop Tart Bowl and patting the Jacolby George's of the world on the back for routinely hurting the team.
