we got a heisman finalist playing in the pop tart bowl ... a top rb who should've gotten more carries playing as well ...
i'm sure you get x and jacolby now ... wouldn't be surprise if you got arroyo ...
not sure how anybody sits when your top 5 pick in the he draft is playing ...
gotta give mc credit ...

It's clear we've upgraded "football guys" with players that care way more about winning/losing. The last two seasons the team has demonstrated their willingness to fight for all four quarters which is a major change for the better from where we've been. There is more under the surface we don't see or know and will let those actually connected to the program elaborate on those details.

This is the development thing all over again

Martinez and Ward and X were this way before Mario and will be that way long after they leave here

Our culture is still horrible in penalties and blown assignments and unsportsmanlike conducts
but mc was responsible for retaining those guys ... and culture is different than discipline ... i agree 1000 percent that we need to be more discipline

Yeah I wasn’t necessarily disagreeing with you it’s just hard to tell sometimes it’s such a broad term to describe a huge operation

Cam loves Mario. Likes attract. I will say back in 2023 when we were getting commitments I said I thought the type of character kid we were targeting were different

Our culture is improving in terms of sharing as we believe the other team should visit our end zone as much or more than we visit theirs.

A culture of giving? I don’t understand this thread it’s fake. More hope BS

The players playing weren’t even ours yet a year ago.
Culture of not being ready to play, including folding against Syracuse and GT. Cool.

I don't see the likes. Cam is quietly confident and waiving his fingers to the sideline. Mario is clenched ****, insecure, constipated face pounding podiums for extra effect.

If we were disciplined you would say being disciplined is part of the culture as it would help your view.

You would be correct.

What is our culture? One could argue we have no identity. Certainly none on defense. What is it on offense? It was Cam and X. That’s not an identity that’s an issue.

we lost two games, won 10, got invited to the pop tart bowl and instead of guys jumping ship, guys are talking about going 1-0 one more time and watching film to prep for the opponent ... that's culture ... and we didn't fold against either of those teams, they weren't blowouts, they were one score games ... we all disappointed, namely in the defense, but we saw this last year with the team up north and it was opt out city ... facts are facts, you can be disappointed and also give credit to improvements in the program

For as much as I want to see Cam and Martinez tear it up in the bowl game, common sense tells me this is a dumb move by all. Players opt out of bowl games all the time. Why? So that they don't fall from a Day 1 pick to a Day 3 pick and so on. Yes NIL. Yes football guys. Yes team spirit. Yes culture? I mean maybe, but @JHallCanes nailed it when he said these dudes were like this before Mario and will be like this long after Mario.

Here's the thing. We are playing in an exhibition game for all intents and purposes. It literally means nothing. Yes 11-2 looks a lot better than 10-3. This game doesn't count againt redshirt. This game is against a second tier program. This game will likely have a horrible TV share. So what does the program gain by these guys playing? Excitement one more time? 11-2? It's sort of like banging your old high school girlfriend at your 20 year reunion. Sounds fun. Feels good for a bit. Then you get that strangle scratchy feeling that reminds you why you didn't stick together....and you realize it was over. Rather than playing Cam and getting crabs, wouldn't it be better to play the young guys? Let them practice and prep like a real game week? Get some real film to assess in the offseason if these guys (ahem Emory) are worth keeping around?

I realize this post won't be popular with the guys who are dying to see Cam play. That's ok. If you peel back the emotion, most people will see the long term value in playing the backups, regardless of outcome. If you don't agree, that's ok. It just means you're stupid have a different opinion. ;)

Have an awesome day and Go Canes!
