It’s not about quality of life more about taking that next step in coaching. He seems like the type of guy that wants to prove what he can do at all levels. JMO
 
No one should be here defending what happened on the field last year. It was a epic coaching failure, historic. And it falls on Cristobal shoulders for hiring the people he did. That roster was not 5-7 bad. We had zero high points in the season. It start like a patient rushed to the hospital in distress then flatlined.

Im not freaking out about it because unlike some of you, i dont hold Cristobal accountable for schematic issues, i hold the coordinators. He gets blame for hiring them. And i feel he took significant steps by getn rid of the belief that he is married to bro style and a more schematic fit in Guidry. He is a roster builder like Butch. That i have no doubt he will do, and i want it done through high school. Not with hurry come up portal mercenaries. Those i wanna pick and choose. Btw i love the portal and kids getn paid.

Back to my initial comment about not having the coaching to do what USC did last season, or apparently even Duke. They were a bigger mess of a team. I’m sure people have compared the numerous overachieving first year coaches in college football last year, with much lower expectations than us.

Trade Caleb Williams for TVD ( and I like TVD) and the coaching comment would be different. We would have won 8 plus games with Williams at QB and USC wouldn’t have won as many. Their defense was bad. So was ours.

Lincoln Riley is better than Gattis they might have won similar games. Gattis was a epic failure

I agree, but the portal is here to stay and you have to work it to fill gaps and replace the guys that you lose to the portal. Overall, a championship program must be built from H.S. players which is why I don't see FSU being more than a 9 win team unless prison Mike changes his model.

In my opinion, FSU is going to fall off bigtime next year when they lose the production of Jordan Travis. Travis has developed into a pretty good QB that may even get drafted. I'll give him his props. They will not only lose his passing production, but they don't have a QB on the roster with his athleticism running the ball and I think their run game will suffer without the threat of the QB running. FSU didn't sign any QBs from the 2020 and 2021 cycles. A.J. Duffy from their 2022 class hasn't really developed. They signed a 3-star kid at QB last year after their top QB recruit flipped elsewhere and their prize 2024 QB commit just took a visit to Penn State.. You have to sign and develop good H.S. players to build your program.

The portal will calm down in a few years. All this mayhem was created by the NCAA when they granted an extra year of eligibility during the Covid season without increasing the scholarship limit. This was the dumbest thing they could possibly do as H.S. players paid the price for the glut of bodies available in the portal.

As I said, that will drop off in a few years when there are no more Covid eligible players. The portal has to be replenished with new players. Those players were H.S. recruits at one time. So, the fact that schools brought in less H.S. kids during the Covid years because of an overloaded portal, means the future number of players in the portal will decrease.

You can't build a program with the portal, but you can use it to fill some roster holes.

You’d be hard pressed to find somebody who dislikes that program more than me. However, I’m not blind, ignorant or obtuse like others.

I am not saying they are a better program. I am not saying they have a better staff or possess better athletes. I am not saying they have a better NIL program, etc.

What I am saying is those of you who continue to dismiss f$u and push some narrative that they still suck and will always suck and have no money, etc. are viewing the world thru orange & green colore glasses.
