The Bank (4/27)

Last year was the most talented team in 15 years on we won 5 games.

It certainly appears that way when you look at the Draft.

Oh.

Last year was 100% coaching problem. From top to bottom and Cristobal for hiring the people he did. If he brought in his Oregon staff we would have been better off. He went into the candy store and bought the sweets and that shyyt put him in a coma.

Even if not accurate enough on the USC take, Duke, compared to Miami last year was laughable!
I’m not sure what we are even talking about here

We went 5-7 and were a joke of a team. Not sure why people expect us to light up the transfer portal

I agree. They sucked for the first few years but they’ve gotten better and killed us last year. I don’t see any talk about beating their *** this year. We’re behind them but cornrows has a few years’ head start on Mario so I don’t think it’s an apples to apples criticism right now.

The more relevant comparison right now is us with Mario vs Napier and the gator. Both took over at roughly the same time.
We flip flopped with them but much like we were “ahead” of them it wasn’t by much. They have a lot of recruiting issues like we did that will rear its head soon. I’m not sure where both programs will be in a couple of years tbh but I don’t like when people go on these tangents chastising fans when they’re only talking about one or two weirdos.

None of our fans with any sense are dismissing FSU or pretending they aren’t a threat, **** if anything this board in general gives them way too much credit. The parity these days is pretty tight outside the top few programs and can swing pretty quickly

That is fine. I can look at FSU and do the same. I would actually argue FSU simply evaluated better for that one year, no doubt. They did not get an Addison, or Bear, or Williams, or Quinn Ewers, like a known stud that everyone was after. They got some lower ranked kids or G5 kids who translated great. We have some of that in this current portal class so too early to call it either way. **** one of the guys that did great for them the WR wilson was a 4* in HS and they downgraded him to a 3* transfer, that is why I say they did a better job evaluating the lower kids and I just do not think that model is sustainable with that type of hit rate. I want to say the ONLY 4* transfers they had were Jared verse and Trey Benson.

For 2022 FSU also signed:

Malik Feaster- played in 4 games, 1 tackle
Jazston Turnetine - did play but was a JAG, was I believe third string and injuries forced him into a role.
Winston Wright - no stats injured
Deuce Spann - 8 catches 64 yars
Pittman - 32 catches 330 yds (sorry if Ladson is a bust with 300 yards Pittman has to be a miss)
Kayden Lyles- no stats - injured
Bless Harris - played one game then injured.

They signed a total of 13 players, I just listed 7 misses, so over half the class was a bust and they hit it out of the park and we were abysmal? I understand and agree it is subjective but I am trying to play within your sandbox and still just dont see it.

Because agendas ignore pertinent facts.

Can you name a single player other kam kinchens who played better in 2022 than 2021? #development #scheme #trashfieldcoaches

Coaches definitely played a role. But 100% on the coaches? That’s crazy talk. We were a probably a 7 win team. Best case scenario we win 8 or 9 games with that roster with all breaks and luck.

That’s why this blue chip ratio is so deceptive. So many 4 stars that never panned out and wouldn’t have been much better under any staff.

Parrish-3rd team ALL-ACC leading rusher on the team
Ahkeem Mesidor-ALL ACC honorable mention, led team in sacks
Darrell Jackson-Immediate starter played well first half of season
Mitchell Agude-39 tackles/7 TFL/4 sacks-career high
Jake Litchenstein-got hurt took RS
Antonio Moultrie-Rotational DT
Daryl Porter Jr.-limited PT
Jon Denis-Got some PT as backup Center
Logan S.-Played limited snaps

I think borderline abysmal is off base. Several starters and good players, and remember he just got to Miami trying to put together a team and sign a class, and hire coaches.
I like this take. There are some kids from the first portal class listed who talent-wise shouldn’t have seen as much playing time as they did, not only for those who expect nothing but excellence but also for a strong P5 program (this is not unique to Mario’s tenure) but creating a roster with stability regarding expectations for work ethic is so often overlooked.

I expect a plus-plus return from this year’s portal class building on last year’s approach from the staff while openly admitting Mario’s process is not conducive to filling all of the holes.

Point being I love the projection of the kids he’s added for their future roles here and we need to realize he’s not going to patch all of our shortcomings this cycle; I wholly anticipate we will be thrilled with the kids we’ve added and will be frustrated with the lack of adds in the positional groups we feel desperate for. The latter is going to continue to shrink, even if it’s not at our preferred pace.

Our recruiting needs to pick up. ASAP.

We had a great class last year, but so far this class has been underwhelming to say the least. I say that not because of the kids we have committed, I think most are good projects and glad to have in this class. However, I’m more concerned with the lack of momentum and our traction with blue chips so far.

We haven’t done much in the portal, and I’m “ok” with that as long as we are signing blue chip HS prospects. That does not seem to be the case so far this year. I’m hoping the staff is keeping stuff on the down low and we’re actually closing in on some of these guys. It’s early, but so far this class is very underwhelming.

What makes you think we don’t have traction with any blue chips ? We’re in the top group for easily 10+ top prospects.

God shut up.

Our "class" last year did not "pick up" until July.

I'm sure you were crying last year at this time too.
