The Bank (12/13)

We didn't win the ACC with a Heisman finalist, Davey O'Brien winner & probably a top 3 draft pick.

We're absolutely 100% unequivocally not winning it with Emory at QB.

He's simply not the answer.

And yes I can and am saying that 100% right now & I don't need to see him play next year to come to that conclusion.

He ain't got it. No matter how hard yall want him to have it, it's not there. Small sample size, or large, he's not IT.
Your argument just proves that QB wasn’t the problem.

I never said it was, of course it wasn't.

The point is, expecting to have a better a season with a worse QB is illogical.
Emory would require an elite defense to help him stay afloat.

The chances of us having an average defense with Mateer at QB and having an elite offense again is just A) more likely and B) more likely to win us games.

I'm not advocating for Emory as a starter. I have no idea if he could be effective or not, but we also have seen very little and it's just as wrong to claim he can't as to claim he can. Nothing should be given to him or any other QB, but he should have a chance to compete for the starting job. Meanwhile, some are saying Lagway is still this mythical QB who just needs more time to get better after his very mediocre play this season. It seems the "I've seen him play, he's not good" is applied very selectively and biasedly by a lot of people
I’m with you here

I actually found the Lagway and Emory stuff funny myself. I think Lagway is good but also think it stands to reason Emory is better than the kid that broke his arm what 14 months ago? (Not comparing the two guys of course)

But the comments I’ve seen back and forth have been a bit hypocritical

But the people I’m talking about kinda do that with everything so it’s not a big deal

Emory is cool and all as a backup. I like him.

However, thats shopping at Dollar General. We are in a position to have our pick of the litter at QB in the portal. One with highest end talent with a sample size to prove it.

We also can and have shown we will pay the iron price and that our money is good and the checks clear.

Why we would ever have to settle again outside of a year where we just so happen to whiff on everybody is baffling again.

We have a proof of concept, success with it. Whoever ends up the best 2-3 QBs in the portal...one of them belongs to us.

I'll simplify it:

If Emory entered the Portal right now, which Playoff team would take him as their Starter for next year?

Which 10 win team that didn't make the playoffs would take him as their starter in hopes that he would be able to get them over the hump?

Which 9 win team that didn't win their conference would take him as their starter?

...
....
.....
......

Exactly

I don’t understand the Emory hate. Between the ears much more important than physical attributes. I think Emory can win us an ACC championship and a shot in the tourney. I thought we were going to get that done this year so what do I know. Time will tell.

Go Canes!
Don’t matter what’s between the ears if you can’t physically do the job

The kid did get hurt and was playing with his leg wrapped. Who knows how that injury affected him
Pulled hammy. Wasn’t serious. Week one on first series. Him taking forever to come back is on him. Too many excuses for players. I’m guilty of it too.

This is it. We have the oline. We have the running backs. We have a solid receiver coming back and there are tons of proven guys in the portal, and receiver is one of the easiest plug and play positions.

We need almost an entire defense. There aren’t a ton of highly proven guys in the portal on that side of the ball. And even if you get some more talent, defenses need time to gel.

Our likelihood of having another elite offense is so much higher than the defense. This whole “just put an elite defense out there” argument is insane.
