The Bank (11/19)

This thread would read completely different if we'd beaten GT. I don't know if people are bipolar, trolls, or just need to lift more.
People couldn’t handle recruiting to begin with

But now they really can’t wrap their heads around NIL. Programs are budgeting for the finish across the country. It’s a bloodbath

We are always gonna get ours with Mario and our NIL but playing stock up and stock down daily is for entertainment purposes only

We will have to break one of the recruiting rules with Carter though

Agreed.

Different topic for a different day (and ultimately a fascinating case study down the road), but recruiting is transitioning to $$ and less “recruiting”; hence, I’m not really sure how much of an advantage having a recruiter as an HC is anymore compared to the X’s and O’s guys. We will see, I have no lean right now in that regard. It’s almost like the recruiter has been relegated to the tiebreaker, when the money is equal or close to it. Without the money, the recruiting is secondary.

Just a completely different age of football.

He’s not a good QB and the people sucking his **** in here now are only doing that because he’s a 5 star and they wanted us to get him last year.
I think he’s shown some good flashes as a true freshman. He has potential given the arm strength and ability to move but he’s not there yet. He tries to make throws he shouldn’t so he’s tbd in the future IMO. I get some of you wouldn’t take him over our backups. I would but I also think we need to get someone more proven in the portal, either way, for next season.

IMO, there will be multiple parties that hit a certain clearing price on that vast majority of recruits, at which point the $$ differences across bidders become arbitrary. That's where having an elite recruiter as HC, quality culture, and other winning pieces in place becomes decisive factors.

This should let you know that recruiting battles have always been about money.

We obliterated UF & are the reason why their season completely fell off the rails. You would think that holds weight in the eyes of recruits, but as you can see... It don't.
Exactly,

Pitch:

“we aren’t that trash. Coach will be here next year. Here’s 40% more than the other team is willing to pay you.”

If you are recruiting good kids that come from good families, then unless the money is not close, there are other factors that are still in play. Playing close to home (it's not cheap to travel if we are talking about money), campus feel, relationship with coaches, playing with friends, legacy kids (see Ben Hanks). All of that is still a factor if recruiting the right type of kids.

Some wild **** getting insecure about Florida

Napier recruited well last year too. Their average recruit rating was better than our top 3 class people like to talk about

They’ll get players

If Miami removed every single 3* except 1 we still would have had a better class than them

Legit question though.... we have seen UF boosters come out and desperately swing before (Rashada) and sway kids with the promises of money only for it to not come true.

But now a recruit is going to look at the current state of the program (most boosters I know have dropped back their support because they dont like Billy) UF is desperate again and I dont doubt they are throwing out crazy "numbers" but why does anyone assume they will actually pay this time?
As adults who don’t have any skin in the game it’s easy for us to see this.

But the kids and their parents get blinded by delusions of grandeur and fall for it. Just like the Rashadas

Oh for sure if I’m choosing who to go to war with these last two weeks every year it’s:

Mario

Billy

Norvell

Florida will get players because they’re SEC. They’ve got some legacies that help this year and they got some guys we wanted last year. People were dogging them last year and they ended up with a pretty good class is all I meant

Flip side we know Norvell is absolutely getting obliterated this year. Gonna take a miracle close to salvage anything good

Year we are on the same page. Theres a micro and a macro here that’s pretty fascinating really

Mario flipping and not getting flipped in return has been the most impressive part of whatever our system is doing so far

I thought we already broke that rule with Armondo Blount?

Lagway looks like ****. Wtf is everyone hyping this guy? He’s as fat as me and almost has as many INTs as TDs. I’d bet he has more INTs than TDs after running into the buzz saw that is Ole Missus defense this weekend.
Stop, dude is legit, especially for a true freshman. It's ok to hate the Gators and also give props to a good player.
