Thank You All

This class is really, really strong. Now that Cormani's officially gone, let's review something.

People can debate about the exact order until they're blue in the face, but the five most premium positions in today's game without question are:

QB - Miss
WR - Miss
OL - Hit
DL - Hit at DE, miss at DT
CB - I'd assume there will be varied opinions here after losing Cormani, so I'll put push considering the array of talent we were pursuing

There's no argument against OL or DE being a hit in this class. There's no argument against QB, WR, and DT recruiting being a miss compared to the national powers we're trying to compete against.

Stafford and Brown are, of course, really nice additions and A. Jackson reclassified. Presumably at least one of them ends up at safety given how lightly we recruited that position in this class. Cormani bounced. We made 11th-hour pushes for countless CBs (Mathews from OSU, Austin from LSU, J. Jackson and Denson from UF, Harrison from Pitt, Joseph) and didn't close on any of them. We lost the elite cover corner and added Brown's brother via the portal.

Really, really strong class. Considering our misses at QB, WR, and DT, hopefully we'll have some staff changes and a season that isn't a start-to-finish abomination that will help us land a Top 3 haul next year. Because that's what we need to become legit contenders.

And for f**** sake, can we bring in a DB coach who helps us actually close the deal with Surtain and Campbell-level corners?
I’d have QB as a push

Last I heard Mannio is so enamored with Deion's recruiting prowess that he's going to demote himself to assistant OL coach and let Deion become HC here so he can learn from a true recruiting master.

Clemson’s model is reliant on one thing more than any other and you touched on it here. They landed elite QB’s capable of carrying their team to the promised land twice in the last decade. Without the elite QB, their ceiling is capped as ACC Champion with no prayer of achieving anything greater.

- They hit on DeShaun Watson and won a natty.

- They won the ACC title with Kelly Bryant but stood no match with him against Bama.

- Insert Trevor Lawrence the following year and they were champs again.

- Their offense regressed mightily with Uiagalelei and the program’s ceiling was firmly restored. ACC champs and nothing more.

The obvious concern here is Mario’s track record of recruiting QB’s was a red flag before he was hired here and it was a position of weakness in an otherwise really strong class. He landed highly ranked QB’s at Oregon but they’ve had to roll with transfers the last two years (Anthony Brown and Bo Nix) because they weren’t any good.

Hopefully we start landing Watson and Lawrence level QB’s while also loading up in the trenches & reversing our recruiting misfortunes at WR. That would create a sustainable model for us.
So essentially the poster you responded to was right. If we recruit 5-10 and land an elite qb talent we can win the natty. It’s seems you’re saying we can’t land that qb. But the question is how in the **** would you know that? Forget the recruiting talk since you know the future. The next time the powerball hits a billion give me the fckn numbers.

You're not wrong here. We would've been better going after Ricks in hindsight.

I would be tempted to say they got lucky, but they seem to get lucky every time in these types of situations so it can’t be coincidence.

They are very good at pivoting at exactly the right time. They know exactly when to go to their backup plan, and their backup plan is almost always another elite player.

The only difference between their class and ours is the number of times we’ve been left at the alter vs them, and the quality of the plan B kids we had to sign vs them.

Mario needs to learn to get in front of things when they’re not trending his way. His biggest vice is that he’s slow to react and make course corrections, and he doesn’t have contingency plans ready to go

Nah. Trenches is top 3 and interchangeable depending on the talent you have and the type of scouts you have on the team to scout diamonds.

QB, trenches and WR are my top 3, then DBs after WR. Trenches will make your QB/RB and CBs safeties and LBs look like a million bucks.

Definitely need a game changer WR.

And I've been on the Corey Raymond bandwagon for a minute. I like DVD and want him to stay on staff to learn from a guy like Corey.
Bro Qb, Trenches, and WR is LITERALLY 13/22 Starters lol. Saying trenches as a whole is a cop out when you are trying trying to rate importance of specific positions.

For those who think Barstool didn't play a role, that's a Barstool employee lol

Pretty sure that’s one of the dudes from Million Dollars worth of game. They’re partnered with Barstool, but they’re pretty much they’re own thing completely. It’s like using Joe Rogan to discuss Spotify.

I’ll keep this simple for you so you don’t have to waste time misinterpreting anything.

Are Jacurri Brown or Emory Williams anywhere in the universe of DeShaun Watson or Trevor Lawrence as prospects? Or do you just want to get all riled up at anyone who wants to point out the obvious?

Nowhere in my post did I say we can’t land that caliber of QB. But if you think that level of QB is on our roster already, then your delusion must feel awesome.

And for all of Mario’s recruiting prowess, he has an outright poor track record THUS FAR with the QB’s he’s recruited in the past. That can always change. Hopefully for our sake it does. That’s all.

Ehhh I don’t know. Million dollars is one of barstools biggest podcasts and a leading podcast for its market. Dave found them and gave them an opportunity and both sides are very fond of each other. I’d recommend listening to the episode they have him on as guest.

Stop making so much sense. People here can’t comprehend the difference between a typical Clemson level top 10 class and what Miami just signed. They do it up front defensively and at the QB position, and not long ago they had a claim to WRU. Add to that the ability to keep 1st rounders for their senior year and you get what they got.

Not saying that can’t happen with Mario, but the three positions they hit home runs consistently on, Mario has struck out tremendously, so far (yes I know it’s only after year 1). Mario values O lineman and while it’s a very important position, don’t forget Miami had more O lineman drafted than Clemson over their span of being elite. It’s not the end all be all, like some claim it is.

I've got a couple of Clemson buddies that I can tell are worried about their continued success moving forward. Particularly with Dabo using "God's NIL" and his reluctance to go to the portal. You and others correctly pointed out that they built the D trench up so much and were able to pay the guys to stay for their senior year, while catching lightning in a bottle twice with the QB. Klubnik may be another one for them, who knows. They have definitely dipped in the receiver and RB area. Shipley is a nice back, but hes nothing like EtN. Losing Venables hurts them big time too. I'm curious to see them next year. Dabo definitely recognized his weaknesses on last years team as far as coordinators. Upgraded the OC to combat the dip from the DC (Goodwin).

Its funny, me and Cribby had the same info and even talked about it.

I also didn't change my tune, I stopped talking about it because you kept being insufferable ***** and started insulting @TheOriginalCane among others.

I honestly don't know how you make it through life.

**** off as well.
You told everyone "we weren't entitled to know" and acted like a total *******.

They’ll be just fine with Klubnik and Riley. They won’t win a title but they’ll win the ACC barring injury.

NIL will hurt Clemson more than any other elite teams of the last decade. That will be the downfall of Dabo. If he continues to not adapt, the fans won’t stand for 10 wins and ACC titles. What the administration will do, I have no idea. 98% of schools would love that, but when the playoffs expand, it will water down what that means and it won’t give those coaches a leg to stand on. It’ll really expose bad conferences. Being a top 4 seed that gets smacked by a lower one a couple years in a row won’t look good.
