Texas fans want Golden

Golden is a religious man. He believes his calling is here and was destined to suceed in this trial at the U. He said it himself. Some may find that silly, he doesnt. He would of left in 2011 otherwise.

Golden will not leave for Texas. Like other have said...his wife loves it here and his parents live in Naples. On top of it, Golden's brother, who is a sheriff in New Jersey, walked on at Miami when Schnelly was here. Golden may have gone to Penn St....but he's a 'CANE at heart PERIOD DOT

If Hugh Freeze can have a good season at Ole Miss, he will be a top candidate. Ole Miss actually plays Texas this weekend. Another name is James Franklin....if he has a good season, his name will be up there. Charlie Strrong will be a name too. Let the games begin.

Oh really?

It's a small world after all.

Golden has a weird obsession with the 80s Canes and JJ. He loves it here. That Miami attitude and hard-working, chip on your shoulder mentality resonates with him. He's also highly intelligent and he's looking at his last two recruiting classes laughing his *** off at what he's bringing in despite all the bull**** the program is dealing with.

Also, his wife told my informant "south Florida is. MY. ****." If he leaves, I think it's Penn State or the NFL.

But that's easy to say when a team like Texas ISN'T offering him some obscene amount of money. That'll make any man think twice.

It's not a weird obsession, his older brother Greg was a walk on for Howard so he is all too aware of what Miami is and has been to the college football landscape. His brother Shaun is a Sheriff not Greg and Gregs son Greg is also a walk on at Miami.

If Golden was going to jump for another college job, I'd think he would have done it by now.

when a job like ut opens up everyone squeeze their sphincter

i dont think golden leaves now, hes on the brink of great **** at um but someone is gonna take that job.

They can want all day long, Al is not dumb, no region in the country produces the talent like south florida!!! nasty, smart and fast players and you are in an urban, global market. Al's a big city guy from the tri-state region. he get's it. We are perfect fit! Next, move on!

The first I heard about this was just a few weeks ago in some interview of Al. I was surprised that had not come out before. It helped explain why Golden knew as much and maybe more about our folklore as many of us. I had assumed he just did a real good research job. Makes him a legacy Cane.

I do think we lose him to the NFL, but not until he brings a NC home. He might decide to stay in college. If he does, I don't think he leaves unless the administration drives him away. We have lost about a half dozen coaches to the NFL but never to the another college. We have done well replacing coaches before Larry. Chud will fail in Cleveland like everyone else does. He would be perfect replacement in a couple years if Al leaves.

I used to be very concerned about him leaving. However, the list of schools to which he would jump is much smaller than it was 2 years ago. I think only a handful of schools would draw his interest like UT, USC, ND, Mich, etc. Texas and USC will both have openings sooner than later. Not sure I can see him in LA, but that's the only other college market comparable to Miami. But like someone posted earlier, he defintiely has an obsession and understanding of the UM teams of the 80s.

I used to be concerned about Golden bouncning to the NFL, but i'm really starting to see him as a college lifer. I think he really connects with the kids. I think he understands that being a college HC for 10-20 years will net him a lot of money without the lunacy of free agency, salary caps, etc. Maybe the allure of pro coaching is too powerful and will prove me wrong.

Cmon man u can tell AG isnt a bullshytin *** dude he says what he says and means what he means. Dude said hes making this a destination job and he also said he wants to be the longest tenured coach. U gonna have to Bobby Bowden his *** to get him out of Miami. Theres no way hes leaving even for an NFL job watch.

Texas can cobble together enough money to loot Saban away from Alabama.

They got the money.
Why would he want to start again?

He's in his 60s and at the top of the game with recruits beating down his door to sign for him.

maybe hes tired of the bull**** that comes with being hc at bama

Don't know if it'd be any better at Texas with them having their own network and all. I don't think he'd enjoy the several TV shows he'd have to do.

We're going to hear this noise every coaching bobble that burps up around the country. Al's got work to do, and he's not all about the money. Plus he's a genetically predisposed Cane.

When he' done it all here, maybe we worry, but not now or even a couple years. Here's a thought - he stays because he's just built that way. It's not just possible, it's likely.

Whatever. Go poach the great SEC for a future coach. I know a team in our state that wants to dump your old coach in waiting.
