Texas fans want Golden

Texas will go after an assistant in the SEC like Saban's DC before they look at nabbing Fedora, Strong or Golden. Fedora hasn't done much at Carolina to merit picking him up, Strong turned down Tennessee and has most of his ties at Florida and Golden ain't leaving Miami to rebuild all over again in Austin.

Look for someone like Kirby Smart, Mike Bobo or even Cal's head coach, Sonny Dykes to get a holler if Mack doesn't turn things around.

They won't go for an assistant, they want an establish name and a college assistant will not do that.

Fedora is a great coach, look at his tenure and look where he is from.

Other names to consider are James Franklin, David Shaw (may be tough because he is an alumni), Kevin Sumlin and David Doeren.

Jim Mora Jr could be another name too.

NFL names to watch: Greg Roman and Vic Fangio.

Matt Campbell at Toledo is real young but a good coach.

I will say though - the cheek of Texas fans thinking they can get the Hurricanes' coach.

Get out of here, we're better than you.

Several of my friends who are Longhorns fans told me that they fed up with Mack Brown.

They were so unhappy to watch their team being steamrolled by BYU with rushing attack with 550 yards last night.

Charlie Strong should be at the top of that list. Just not sure a black coach has any shot at the UT head job.

He continually replaces coordinators and they still struggle the only common denominator is Mack. Never understood why he was ever considered a "great" coach.

Im honestly not worried about Golden leaving for another college job. Maybe that's wishful thinking, but he seems to really like So Florida and the possibilities at UM

Also, did you hear the emotion today post-game? That didn't sound like a guy going anywhere anytime soon

I hear Kelly is quite the fan of Coral Gables, I don't think the man wants to upset his wife.

To the board,

Since Schnelly, we never lost an HC to another College Team.

Love,
Mom and Pop

We didn't lose Schnelly to another college team and neither did we lose the guy who came before him, Lou Saban, to a college team.

Let me start by saying I don't think he'll leave, but a programme like Texas is one that could tempt him.

He's all about recruiting - the big draw for Miami is that even if you just secure half the top talent down in South Florida you're putting together a **** of a football team.

Texas, historically, have had their pick of Texas talent. With someone like Al Golden at the helm they'd put up monster recruiting classes.

Recruiting in Texas hasn't been Mack Brown's problem. He cleans up there every year. Mack Brown is one of the all-time great recruiters.

**** Davis had an interesting theory about recruiting Texas. With all the emphasis on weight training and nutrition in Texas HS football, you often wind up with finished products who don't get much better once they get to college. Not so much with S. FL HS football. Most of the S FL kids have no clue about nutrition or proper strength and conditioning, so in 2 years you have a much better player than the Texas kid.

I don't think he leaves, or considers, before NC. And i don't think it will be fore another college gig, with the possible exception of PSU (but they may end up extending O'Brien if he weathers the storm. I also think his name is going to be coming up a lot more as we build, so we might as well get use to the "rumor has it the the (insert team here) is interested in Miami coach Al Golden" (who will then get asked about it six times by SMD).

Golden will not leave for Texas. Like other have said...his wife loves it here and his parents live in Naples. On top of it, Golden's brother, who is a sheriff in New Jersey, walked on at Miami when Schnelly was here. Golden may have gone to Penn St....but he's a 'CANE at heart PERIOD DOT

If Hugh Freeze can have a good season at Ole Miss, he will be a top candidate. Ole Miss actually plays Texas this weekend. Another name is James Franklin....if he has a good season, his name will be up there. Charlie Strrong will be a name too. Let the games begin.

Miami is a tougher elite job but when it gets rolling there isn't any better place to be. More talent with a couple miles that will all be begging to come. If he keeps this up he will have more talent than he knows what to do with.

texas is a top 3 college job besides the loads of cash they can give, austin is a amazing city to live in. If your a college coach you listen to what they offer.

They have more money than Jesus. They are it in Texas despite A&M's revival in the SEC. I take Golden when he says he wants to build something but never say never or you will end up like the Dolphins with Nick Saban. Golden could become the greatest coach here if he steers us back to the NT....no joke. The recruiting would become a machine and then there is no stopping it. He knows its close

If anyone offers Golden...we better PAY HIM WHATEVER IT TAKES TO STAY.

Good choice others to consider Butch Davis, Patreno
