I wholeheartedly agree as I believe UM has always fielded very emotional teams that for better or for worse carrythe weight of the tradition and local expectations. Everyone forgets that even for our 2000-2003 teams we would be throwing stuff and act upset over some of the performances, yet people forget and act like the mistakes we make today are not the same as that were made yesteryear. Last year I saw a very emotional team that played their hearts out for FSU but were just not physically ready or capable as FSU just had more depth over the long haul of the game. I believe this team is capable, but has to play with tremendous focus, and we may need a little bit of the old "wide right" magic.
Don't think the situations - now and that era - are similar.
It's a huge game because we have not won a single primetime matchup in the Golden era. I'm less worried about sparking the next great era for our program and more concerned about seeing some evidence that we're being led by someone who can do more with less. Golden has done "more with less" from every standpoint other than on the field. It's time to transfer that ability to the scoreboard. Let's do this.
Don Bailey Jr will spend all Saturday morning reminding us that this game isn't an ACC game, and in the grand scheme of things doesn't matter.
Winning the ACC is a BIPRODUCT of slaying giants. You don't set winning your conference as a goal. That's what our neighbors to the north do.
You slay this giant....and the rest of the season will take care of itself. Winning a game like this would propel this young team to another level.....I'm sick of tired of excuses, bad news, bad luck, and the overall negativity that's surrounded this program for some time now.
Rise dammit...that's what moments like this are made for.

Golden said it himself that 'championships are the standard here,' and I don't think he was talking conference titles.
Bottom line, it's time for Golden to start leading this program to victories like this. First two years, I didn't have any real expectations.
This year, is different

Well, the ONLY way for us to get to a BCS Championship, is to WIN the ACC. No other way around it.
One step at a time.

We haven't been good enough to be in a "primetime matchup". So I don't think he has actually lost one yet. The games against FSU and Notre Dame mean alot to us for obvious reasons but the only reason the rest of the country paid attention was because of expectations for those schools and our tradition. It wasn't because they thought we had a shot to win. ****, Herbstreit said at the beginning of last year's FSU game that he just wanted to see us compete and not get blown out like the 2010 game and the games against Notre Dame and Kansas State.
Saturday's game is the first in Golden's tenure that he has a team capable of beating a top 10 team. Partly because that Gator team is vulnerable. He gets them at home. Lets see what he can do.

You can also win the ACC by winning all your **** games, or a good majority of them.
Games like this change the course of programs

Obviously....but my point was we cannot get to a BCS Championship, if we get to an ACC title game and lose it.
The road map to the BCS Championship is through the ACC.
