Talking to DMoney earlier, is this UF game...

I wholeheartedly agree as I believe UM has always fielded very emotional teams that for better or for worse carrythe weight of the tradition and local expectations. Everyone forgets that even for our 2000-2003 teams we would be throwing stuff and act upset over some of the performances, yet people forget and act like the mistakes we make today are not the same as that were made yesteryear. Last year I saw a very emotional team that played their hearts out for FSU but were just not physically ready or capable as FSU just had more depth over the long haul of the game. I believe this team is capable, but has to play with tremendous focus, and we may need a little bit of the old "wide right" magic.

This guy. He gets it.

Don't think the situations - now and that era - are similar.

It's a huge game because we have not won a single primetime matchup in the Golden era. I'm less worried about sparking the next great era for our program and more concerned about seeing some evidence that we're being led by someone who can do more with less. Golden has done "more with less" from every standpoint other than on the field. It's time to transfer that ability to the scoreboard. Let's do this.

This game is on Al Golden because these are the games RS choked on.The monsoon at VT,OSU at the Horseshoe, he has to push us through this game to get the ball rolling again.

Don Bailey Jr will spend all Saturday morning reminding us that this game isn't an ACC game, and in the grand scheme of things doesn't matter.

Winning the ACC is a BIPRODUCT of slaying giants. You don't set winning your conference as a goal. That's what our neighbors to the north do.

You slay this giant....and the rest of the season will take care of itself. Winning a game like this would propel this young team to another level.....I'm sick of tired of excuses, bad news, bad luck, and the overall negativity that's surrounded this program for some time now.

Rise dammit...that's what moments like this are made for.

The time has come. This will be the ultimate barometer.

Golden said it himself that 'championships are the standard here,' and I don't think he was talking conference titles.

Bottom line, it's time for Golden to start leading this program to victories like this. First two years, I didn't have any real expectations.

This year, is different

We haven't been good enough to be in a "primetime matchup". So I don't think he has actually lost one yet. The games against FSU and Notre Dame mean alot to us for obvious reasons but the only reason the rest of the country paid attention was because of expectations for those schools and our tradition. It wasn't because they thought we had a shot to win. ****, Herbstreit said at the beginning of last year's FSU game that he just wanted to see us compete and not get blown out like the 2010 game and the games against Notre Dame and Kansas State.

Saturday's game is the first in Golden's tenure that he has a team capable of beating a top 10 team. Partly because that Gator team is vulnerable. He gets them at home. Lets see what he can do.

Well, the ONLY way for us to get to a BCS Championship, is to WIN the ACC. No other way around it.

One step at a time.

You can also win the ACC by winning all your **** games, or a good majority of them.

We could've beaten FSU last year. That would have sufficed. "Primetime" matchup, for us, doesn't necessarily have to be championship game or even two top 15 teams going at it. To me, it can be a situation against a team we probably shouldn't beat that would serve as a catapult to something better.

Obviously....but my point was we cannot get to a BCS Championship, if we get to an ACC title game and lose it.

The road map to the BCS Championship is through the ACC.

And my point is there is nothing more important than winning this saturday. I'll take my chances with whatever happens the rest of the season if we win this game.

Even with a loss there's still a very good chance to have a great season. Other than Florida State this team will most likely be favored in every other game with UNC being the only matchup that really looks troublesome. Most reasonable people think 9-10 wins is the bar for this team and one loss against Florida doesn't change that. A loss would suck but by no means render the rest of the season meaningless. A win still means having to win games against teams that have given us fits for years.

Yes and no. The Ohio State game was a primetime matchup when it happened. Just like the Oklahoma game in '09. Just turned out those teams sucked at the end of the season.

We don't have anywhere near the depth that's necessary for a NC run, unfortunately. But were getting there. Sure wish Morris had one more year left.

Man I'm not going to list all of the teams who went from average to 11-1 12-0 seasons again. But on some real ****. If Miami beats UF. There is no one on the schedule that Miami can't beat. Including Clemson in the ACCG. Notre Dame shocked people last season.

Before the year I said 12-0 is possible given our schedule. 11-1 is likely. If we did happen to go 12-0, 13-0 this season, depending on the opponent, IDK if we'd be really be ready for an NC appearance. But it would be hyped up to no end just like ND last season. We have a similar SOS to ND last season.

This win can (will) be a major breakthrough in setting the mentality of a team that expects to win every game. We need one to let a team that is still young. No moral victories anymore. Win at all costs, even an ugly game where we steal a win.

I see this game almost exactly like the Ped State game because I think both Ped State and uf@g are overrated teams that will finish the season with 3 or 4 losses. I just hope this one turns out differently than the Ped State game did.

If one of the Gators tries to fight our punter this time around, he will lose, unlike Crosland in '99
