Take it with a grain of salt

Yes.. yes they are.

But if Miami's sanctions are a result of flim-flam evidence or dubiously corroborated violations, couldn't Miami take them to court and say "prove it" on the grounds of potential damage to the University's reputation and the financial hit it may cause?

I find it hard to believe the NCAA has the legal authority to demolish a private institution with no recourse afforded to the school except for an "appeals process".

I think the problem with this theory is that the NCAA is a voluntary organization that UM has decided to join, and thus has agreed to be bound be all of its rules. If UM doesn't like what the NCAA is doing, it can just leave. The NCAA isn't some government agency with power over us, and so that is why no true "due process" is required.

I appreciate the response.

Still, does the Herald KNOW. I mean, there were like 70 possible Canes allegedly involved, how does the Herald KNOW none have turned.

I hope to God they are right, but I'll believe it when I see the NCAA ruling that nobody snitched. Until then, experience tells me to prepare thy ****.

How do you know no players snitched?

Perhaps you are sure, but I have seen nothing definitive that no players snitched. Have you?

All I saw was Ty Moss with front page headlines bragging it up, and that was without even being pressed. He was yacking.

Do you know the NCAA found NOBODY willing to talk? Or are you speculating?

Just asking.

Well the OP is BS but I still don't understand why everyone thinks we'll get hammered. No players snitched, circumstantial evidence, Randy banning contact, main source of allegations is a convicted Ponzi schemer... what is there not to like for us as fans? Please correct me if I'm missing something.

The NCAA has renewed efforts to try to get former UM players to corroborate Nevin Shapiro’s claims and has asked UM for help in contacting them. Predictably, the former UM players have been ignoring the NCAA’s calls

The only problem with the NCAA is that just because they can't prove anything, doesn't mean we're in the clear. The absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence when dealing with them. They can put the onus on us to prove that the claims are false and if we can't we'll still get bent over. There's so much uncertainty when dealing with the NCAA and their arbitrary ways there's no telling what they'll do. They can get no help from our former players, prove nothing and still hit us with sanctions.

But even if a few guys snitch, what are they going to say?

"Yeah, Shapiro bought me drinks six years ago."

Nobody's denying that there's at least some truth to Shapiro's claims.

The NCAA hammers schools for:

1. Having poor compliance measures in place
2. Covering **** up
3. Lying

A couple guys snitching doesn't really add gasoline to the fire. We already had players serve suspensions and pay back improper bennies.

The only nuclear thing a former player could say would be that Coker/Shannon/Dee/other higher-ups knew about the wrong-doing, and covered it up.

Well said and, unfortunately, 100% correct.

That is what SC thought, and they got screwed by our very own Dee. The NCAA took the word of another con man in the USC case, that also had very weak evidence. That is the scary part of all of this. Now the common understanding around here is that SC was not cooperating, but that is not true at all. That is the buzz word that those outside of USC used against them, the same way as those looking on the outside in for our investigation say that all the evidence Robinson published are true, when we Canes know that is not the case at all. I think that the evidence against us from what I have read is very weak, but that is what all the SC fans thought and then they got hammered. Not putting my head in the sand here, I am scared on how bad this will be. I hope i am wrong here but i refuse to be completely delusional about the subject as many of our fans are.

Look, folks are guessing.

They are guessing nobody is talking.
They are guessing that if they did talk, it would mean nothing.
They are guessing that there is only one thing they could say that would matter.

Those are guesses, conjecture, speculation, postulation, inferences built upon inferences, supposition, etc.

Ty Moss popped off without even being asked a question!!!!

Call it what you like, but until I see it in writing from the NCAA, I'm not buying the "we skate" stuff.

Peace.

I appreciate the response.

It's all conjecture.

You're speculating just the same. You're saying someone will snitch despite the fact the NCAA has no subpoena power, and there is absolutely nothing to gain. Snitches usually give up the goods as part of a quid pro quo deal. The only motivation to talk would be spite. Who wants to step out and corroborate the word of a Ponzi schemer? Why would anyone willingly associate themselves with someone like that?

Tyrone Moss is an interesting case because he recanted quickly. He didn't know the scope and nature of Templeton's article.

Anyone who talks to the NCAA will know exactly what the interview will entail.

It's all guesswork. I'm just using the evidence to make an educated guess.

Most appropriate comment in the thread.

Please, I'm not speculating, I phuggin asking a question. Really, read my post that you quoted. I asked how posters KNOW nobody snitched. That's it, that's all.

And I sure as Phug did not say "someone will snitch." Those are your words, not mine. All I did was as a question. Troll much?

You and others are talking like you KNOW nobody will snitch and I asked if you KNEW or were guessing. You're guessing.

Thanks for answering my question.

Peace.

The problem with SC wasn't necessarily that they weren't fully cooperating. It was the fact that their compliance department was pretty much non existent. They virtually had one guy running the **** thing.

Guy on the rivals main board claims the NCAA has made its decision on Miami. States 9 scholarships ,three per year, no bowl ban. Basketball team will loose ships as well. Sanctions will be announced in three weeks. Again take this with a grain of salt. Just passing on what I just read.

The dude that posted that is a known idiot on that board and let me say, when you're known as an idiot on the Rivals Mainboard that is full with idiots, it's quite the accomplishment. Also, never take the word of a dude who starts his post with, my friend knows someone on the BOT or I know a guy on the BOT. Those dudes are typically full of ****.
