STEPHEN MORRIS

I'm calling bullshyt on the notion that Morris played because he is/was better than Williams. The assessment on this forum about QB's by people that don't appear to have any personal knowledge of what happened in practice or in the minds of coaches is exceeded by the number of outstanding players who sat on the bench while inferior upperclassmen played.

Who was an outstanding player that sat on the bench?

I'll start: Joe Montana at Notre Dame
who wants to go next?

So you think we have Joe Montana sitting on the bench in Ryan Williams?

I'm pretty sure his question was in relevance to our current situation, not ND situation 40 years ago.

I'm talking about at UM... We played almost everyone and it was pretty clear why certain players didn't play... They were either not good enough or they weren't ready... And the Joe Montana example isn't the norm... It happens but it's not everyday that hall of fame qb splits time or rides bench... The closes thing to his story occurred like 20 years later with Tom Brady... 2 examples in 20 years...

I think our fanbase needs to accept the fact that Morris was better last year... Hopefully Williams emerges and becomes a better qb for the upcoming season but that's all we can do at the moment...

wow this fan base is one of the most winiest. so annoying to hear our prospects getting bashed. you should be rooting for them to succeed. it's like you guys are clueless. who the **** wants to play for a bunch of over analytical whiny pack of *******

What we have here is a failure to communicate.

At some point there was a coach (and fans) believing that the player starting ahead of these guys gave his team "the best chance to win." The backup, once given the chance . . .

Matt Flynn. A backup for three seasons, lead LSU to the 2007 BCS National Championship.

Dan Marino, backup to David Woodley.

Note: A careful reading of my earlier post will show that at no time have I compared Ryan Williams to anyone.
Does anyone understand my point? Bueller?... Bueller?... Bueller?
