Staff may just go all in with Emory now…

Bumping an old thread about a quarterback that doesn’t belong on our team makes no sense at all! Mods lock this thread up because it’s a waste of space and breath on a quarterback that belongs in the group of five or FCS.
Ok

I never saw Lances comments so I’m glad this was bumped

I remember years back watching Trent Richardson prepping for the draft with a crude virtual reality setup

It didn’t help Trent in the end (Cleveland has that effect on people) but IIRC he was working on blitz pickup reaction time and I was like holy **** this is the future right here

Maybe @Lance Roffers remembers that? It was eye opening though

In a thread full of some of the worst takes in CIS recent history, the guy blaming Dan Marino and Cam Ward for their team’s inability to win the championship might take the cake. His top secret plan for bringing home championship gold is to purposely play worse at quarterback. Because we know when the offense sucks ***, the defense will magically get better. Instead of winning games 42-35 every week, we could just lose 35-0.

More on topic, I don’t think the staff EVER considered Emory to take the starting position. They pumped a bunch of sunshine about his practice performance because coaches normally don’t throw players under the bus, especially good soldiers like Williams. But they were immediately contacting quarterbacks as soon as they entered the portal and likely even before.
That last paragraph is also known as common sense.

Should’ve spent less time on blitz pickup and more time on running into open grass and not changing course to run directly into defenders. All time lack of vision.

Blustein still in love with this kid. He said Emory will be the next Brashard Smith and kill it at his next school.

No he won't, but it doesn't really matter. He failed his 30 minute test so miserably this season that his time here is over. That's all that matters to me, as I don't give a **** about any other teams. But he'll be on an FBS roster if/when he bounces.
He isn't FBS caliber. I said that 3 years ago and it was quite the controversy. You are correct though it doesn't matter he won't ever be the starter here.

Doesn't really matter. There are, what? 125 teams in the FBS? One of them will take him, without a doubt. If you wanna say he'll never start at the FBS level, I won't push back on that one bit. Maybe he does, maybe he doesn't.....I wouldn't bet on it. But an FBS team taking him in the portal, yes that will for sure happen.

There’s 134 current FBS programs and Emory Williams will 100% wind up at one. Maybe he never starts a game again but some G5 programs will scoop him up. His career numbers against G5 competition (no FCS) are 14-16 203 1/0. So in limited time he’s done well against poor competition. He’s good enough to compete for a job in the MAC or similar low G5 conference.

Obviously.

The only question I have is whether he'd prefer to go a tier down for a better chance at a starting QB job. I don't think a G5 school would guarantee him QB1, and sometimes QBs want those assurances to transfer. Some FCS school(s) probably would give him that assurance. I am confident he'd be given a chance to compete for a starting spot at some G5 school(s), but it's also possible he'd lose the starting job and just end up transferring again.

I only take lock thread orders from @cway313 , @Angry Ibis and @TRick72 and it seems that cway has already spoken as to this request.

I don’t think any school is going to guarantee him a starting position. Maybe D2
