Staff Changes Delay The Inevitable

Golden needs to man up, and make the tough decisions. I'm hoping that this deep shame is the best thing that could have happened to him. He can't escape this, he will be forced to confront the garbage he has created.

I said the same thing after the Vag Tech abortion. Scapegoating coordinators never works especially when your scapegoating the guy you developed the defense with and the scapegoating is being done on the side of the ball that is your alleged area of expertise.

Unfortunately, that pig faced swindler in his copier salesman duds managed to dupe UM into thinking he didn't know about the ncaa nonsense even though he showed up with a binder full of 300 booger smeared crayon drawings and his 8 Phalluses of Success.

Fvck this guy for getting blown out by Puke when Flubberneck gift wrapped the coastal for us. That was as bad a performance as any Shanntard ever puked out given the circumstances.

I'll be waiting for the assh0les to step in and tell us that we all would have been thrilled to be 7 and 3 at this point in the season. Not me. Not how this **** schedule played out. If we were in the SEC we'd be Kentucky right now.

Avi if someone wants it...

Golden stays as head coach - he is good at recruiting and develops relationships. Hire quality dc to run a new scheme and play Miami ball. Golden is ceo. Simply solution.

In all honesty this what I envisioned from Golden from day 1. He NEVER gave me the impression of being an X's and O's type guy...he's a high level, well spoken, face of a program when all of the surrounding parts are working at optimal levels.

The problem here, and the part I took for granted, was that he was smart enough to identify and surround himself with quality assistants who handled the X's and O's. So far he has failed miserably in that regard, which is a huge indictment since it's probably THE most crucial decision he's responsible for.

This x10000.

Being a good CEO in any industry is about surrounding yourself with talent. In Al's case, it's on the field with the players and on the sidelines with support personnel.

Butch surrounded himself with coaches like C. Johnson, Pagano, Schiano, and Chudzinski. Three guys who are now NFL head coaches and another who's the head coach of a college program. This is how you succeed as a head coach.

And using the whole "Miami doesn't have the money to pay high-profile coordinators" excuse is a joke (especially with James Coley making $500K).

Finding talented coaches is part of the job if you're a head football coach at any major college program due to the frequency of staff turnover. Jimbo Fisher lost nearly everyone from last season's staff and his team hasn't suffered a bit. Saban deals with coaches leaving all of the time, it's part of the business.

The great ones, however, find the talented coaches and surround themselves with them season after season.

I'm not giving up on Golden just yet. I think he has shown the strong ability to identify talent at the high school level and recruits well.

But if changes aren't made to his staff soon, he's a dead man walking.

If this means firing your D-Coordinator, abandoning your scheme, and bringing in someone to implement a new defense to succeed, then so be it.

If it means firing other coaches and bringing in guys who can develop players, so be it.

Remember when losing games like this got you fired at miami??
Randy Shannon sure remembers

THIS!!!!!

Only thing I will add to the contrary is that although Randy was just as bad if not worse, he went 9-4 in year #3, so by the W-L math he deserved a year #4 to prove there was progress. As much as it pains me watching this Def get shredded year in and year out, so does Al Goldens defensive philosophy.

Sure, fire Golden. Let's restart EVERYTHING again. That'll work out.

Oh, look, another short-sighted simpleton and a natural born loser.

I'm sure you said the same thing during Coker and Shannon's reign of terror.

Same **** for the 3rd time in a row. We'll get rid of the DC and then Golden will get fired next year.

I endorse the OP 100%. Thinking that anything is going to get changed by firing Dorito or anyone else on the defensive staff is extremely short-sighted. Once you accept the hard fact that we failed for the 3rd straight time in a row, things get much easier. It has nothing to do with being a better fan or any of that nonsense.

Golden has built an entire staff of recruiters. Even assuming he doesn't just replace Dorito with another bum with similar philosophy, you really think this dude has shown he is capable of hiring good coaches? Nope.

No we haven't. If that were true we would be getting more 5 star and 4 star guys. Who the **** calls Dorito. Jethro and Williams(I like him) recruiters?

Yeah, because what we have now surely is working. I never understand posts like this.

No, not entirely. But our O is solid. Recruiting is going well. Kids are staying out of trouble. Relationships with a lot of local high schools seem to be getting better. We've got some great young talent on the team.

With that said, our D is awful we know. Just cause one aspect is failing doesn't mean you need to blow the ENTIRE thing up.

I still support Al. But support, for me, isn't binary. It isn't off and on but more of a sliding scale. If he demonstrates he is ready to be a CEO and holds staff accountable, then I will continue to support him. If he doesn't, then my support will continue to decline.

Dorito is merely a symptom.

Golden is the disease.

All a small change will do is buy him more time to meander around our once proud program embarrassing himself in ties that look like they came from the same material that's on my Grandma's couch.

A man who never beat a winning team while at Temple, and never won that conference. A career .500 coach. A guy who celebrates in the locker room after last-second wins against sub.500 teams like he just won the Super Bowl. A man who allows his starting QB to casually eat a Snickers and say "you win some you lose some" after a devastating home loss vs Virginia Tech. Find me a successful coach that would do or allow any of these things to take place on his watch..

There are coaches who are Miami guys, and those who are not. This nice guy in his pleated pants and baggy shirt is more fit to manage a McDonalds than he is handle this type of gig. He offers no advantages when it comes to X's and O's, he isn't some master motivator, and he put together a horrendous staff. The man is turning through pages of his own 300-page How-To win guide praying for answers. He's absolutely clueless.

Dorito should be tied to train tracks, obviously - but that is just delaying the inevitable. This job is too big and too cutthroat for a lumpy sappy nice guy like Golden.

Negged. Come out when times are hard and bash the HC for being too nice. Look at the top 10 outside of Saban those other coaches are considered "nice" and operate with "class". Coach D needs to go. But this hate on golden is premature and silly. We aren't world champs in 3 years, get rid of golden?..

I just wanna know why Kirby and grace aren't playing more, can't be mental mistakes cause the older guys are making just as many mistakes.

Golden did his job. He kept us in the game when it could have unraveled. But it's time to get someone in there that can take this talent and bring us to the level we should be at.

Oh, look, another short-sighted simpleton and a natural born loser.

I'm sure you said the same thing during Coker and Shannon's reign of terror.

You say short sighted simpleton, I say level headed and educated. How easy is it for someone like you who has probably racked up 12,000 of your impressive post count in the past three weeks to just say fire everybody and start over. We are tied to this guy for the rest of decade for what is thought to be on the plus side of $2M/season. Your solution would be to fire him so that we can hire who and for how much? You are so quick to say fire him, but you don't offer up where you go from there. You want the school with a strapped athletic department to be on the hook for a guy for probably $12M to $15M on top of paying another top staff because I am guessing that you wouldn't be happy with another coach coming here from the MAC.

The fact of the matter is Golden isn't going anywhere because some hot head on the internet with 14,000 plus posts thinks he knows how to run an athletic department from a laptop in his parents basement. Golden has done a great job of recruiting and rebuilding the relationships with the local high school coaches that Shannon destroyed during his tenure. What I think should happen, which is worth about as much as what your opinion is, should be for the administration to "suggest" that Golden relieve D'onofrio of his duties and hire a proven aggressive DC to take the reigns that will be allowed to bring in HIS assistants for the defensive staff. That is a much more feasible option in my eyes and something that the school can afford. I know about as much as anybody else on this board about what the athletic department can or cannot afford but based on past hires and contracts that have been given out we have to assume that either they are not willing or able to bring in a bigtime proven coach.

What a ******* failure of a post.

Not really, JHall. It was a very solid post and a great rebuttal to the OP's christmas afternoon rant about his presents not being what he wanted.

We have problems but Al is far from issue at this point. Coach Golden has been a champ over the past two seasons. When even the oldest and most hard core Canes fans were losing hope it was coach Golden who was reminding us of our tradition and history. Dude has been a beacon of hope in our NCAA and self-implosion storms.
