Spring PractiSe 2- Wednesday March 5

In his first full year as a starter McCoy allowed 11 pressures and just one sack on the year. There was five straight games in which McCoy did not allow either a sack or a pressure in 2024.

So in 822 career snaps he has given up just 12 negative players in the passing game. From a pass blocking stand point McCoy is the best IOL on this roster and it's not even close.

He was a high school tightened ,so he needed more time to gain the size and strength to be a force in the run game but he still held his own in the run game in the 2024 season. All reports have been that he is much better and stronger this season and if that is true, there isn't a IOL on this roster, outside of Cooper, who should be on the field over McCoy.
McCoy wasn’t that good. The o-line was better when rivers went to guard and McCoy came out. I saw the guy getting man handled by Jackson in the fsu game. Pff ain’t the end all be all but I don’t think he graded out well either

I don't have an issue with that all but wasn't it reported that Brown doesn't want to play safety...that's why I mentioned Lucas

Big, fast, physical...I know a few others on CIS has posed that before as well
He didn't, none of them do, but if you get beat out at CB and their is a real shot at S. I am guessing his brother's situation was a learning lesson for them. I think and hope he ends up at S. Staying healthy is looking like a real issue, though. I am not betting on Patterson starting this season, either.

Still can't believe there's a Brockermeyer playing anywhere other than Texas.

Their ENTIRE family went to Texas, like multiple generations back. I'm talking Mom, Dad, Uncles Aunts, Grandparents & Great Grandparents on both sides of the family etc..
Wasn’t his brother a 5* that played at Alabama?

My retort on McCoy is this

He came in raw, played TE in high school until senior season I think. He got hurt his freshman season was forced to redshirt. So his RS freshman season he rotated in at LG seemingly the coaches were grooming him to take over at LG after Cohen.

Now He is 6'7 337 per Mirabal before last season. He was slated to start at LG, but got hurt during camp per @DMoney
He came back week of UF game coaches decided to give Rodriguez the start.
They ended up playing almost equal amount of snaps in the game. If you noticed during game UF got pressure a few times, not many, but it was Ryan Rodriguez who was giving up the pressure.

On the ridiculous Ward rollout TD pass to George it was RR who gave up almost immediate pressure.

Mccoy was better in that game.

Then obviously RR was hurt McCoy started from then on.

The when Rivers came back they did rotate Rivers over to LG sat McCoy.

I think it was a few things. They had blown Bell's redshirt already so may as well play him if they trust him. They did so they did. Rivers was an All ACC OL at both G and T in his career of course he was better G than McCoy as a RS sophmore.

Also they were grooming Bell to be starting LT this season so he kept playing.

McCoy wasnt perfect, but he played well at times. I think the coaches think his best football is ahead of him also. His has unique blend of size and athleticism. @DMoney has mentioned in the past coaches are very high on his potential, and think he has NFL potential.

So SIAP,
But been skimming through the reports and Wallace is practicing and moving around just fine? Is that correct? I know this is no pads but he hasn’t been limited at all?
Careful, the people that don't like others being happy a guy is recovering from a major injury might jump on you for bringing this up lol

I agree wholeheartedly. He’s definitely not strolling into the CB room this year with much cache or leverage so he’s going to have to earn it or move…health has not been good for him either so spot on with that.

There’s going to be quite the battles this spring at CB and we should be better whoever comes away in the 2-deep spots.

I’m not questioning the validity of what you wrote, but where did you get those numbers? PFF?

This is not some set up for a gotcha/zinger. I’m honestly curious and I’m kind of a nerd when it comes to numbers.
