Spring Game Observations...

Scott reminds me a lot of Michael Irvin. Big, physical, deceptive speed & snatches the ball out of the air when catching it. Kid's gonna do big big things this year!

We may not have an elite WR like Marquise Lee or Sammy Watkins but I can't imagine there being a better WR unit in the country. Our top 4 of Dorsett, Hurns, Scott and Waters is unreal. They all bring something different to the table. Waters really has been really impressing me with his body control and hands lately. Scott looks like a Baby Hank. Hurns is the ultimate possession/red zone guy and Dorsett can take the top off of any defense. Then you have guys like Malcom Lewis and Carter. Rediculous.

Based on what? He's quick but that doesn't mean he has the brain for defense. And who's he gonna play over?

Considering our depth at DB, and our lack of depth at RB, it's not a mistake at all.

Based on the same reason you think Tracy Howard is going to be a productive DB....He was pretty good at it in HS. Scout team defense MVP. I don't think they should have moved him in the first place. I feel like he would be competing for a starting job had he stayed in that spot.

With respect to RB depth, perhaps we should have recruited RBs the same way we've been recruiting DBs.

I have a question is it better when spring games are low scoring or high scoring? Does Bama have these Offensive explosions in there spring game? I would like to know because thats how I want our D to look eventually when we recruit better Dline guys. (Or develope under the radar Dt's)

Everyone was questioning Scotts level of comp I remember that, and they are doing the same with Rays son. Scott is the goods and so is Ray they have that chip on there shoulder ala Figs.

Scott is big and fast, Ray is small and slow......big difference
 
Did anybody notice one of the olineman try to cut block Porter and how he took a swing at him? Thought it was crazy knowing porters history...

I know they are adding more zone stuff and they have to practice it but please not our guys (really not a fan of it either way)


But Porter beat whoever that was, a backup, across his face and was past him and the olinemen basically dove at his leg to cut him. Porter turned around and I guess took a swing and got a penalty called on him. I think Golden went to the olineman and told him something but Porter left the game. Anybody else notice this exchange or if it was highlighted in telecast?

Well apparently he's not good at it in college cause he was moved.

I saw Porter have a similar confrontation on the 2nd touchdown of the game when he beat the OL across his face and was held from behind. (**** near tackled)

I think our offensive guys are just THAT GOOD. It's not like our defenders were dominated. They were in position to make plays most of the time but Morris and the WR's were just too hard to stop. I'm not sure any defense could've stopped some of the plays we had today.

I actually prefer more playmakers then 1 beast on the team...it really makes it hard on defenses and opens the game up even more
 
Duke, Morris and Henderson, in particular, will be amongst the best players in the country at their respective positions this year, and Flowers has that ability too. Feliciano, Linder, Scott all can be all conference level. This offense should be elite. It should dominate our defense frankly. Our talent on D isnt there yet compared to O.

That's not true. He might have been moved purely for depth purposes. A guy who is not good at defense in college would receive Defensive Scout Team MVP...in college?

1. Howard did what he could. Scott is our best WR and probably a future NFL guy. The play where Howard got beat by Scott for the TD was perfect coverage and a perfect throw. Howard tried to rake the ball out once Scott got his hands on it, which is all he can do is that situation. Scott is 3 inches taller and 20+ pounds heavier than him.

6. I didn't think the squads were split up fairly. The orange team's offensive line (if I remember correctly) was Flowers, Bunches, Wheeler, Isadora and Henderson. That's **** near our starting O-line. (about as good)

7. What a class act Golden is with the Malcolm play. Also thought it was cool what he did with Andre and Gino.

8. I think that overall our defense looks much improved. They don't look as lost as they did last season. Even when the offense makes a nice play our defensive players are atleast in position to contend it.

9. Finally...something I'm really concerned about...OUR PASS RUSH. It's non-existent. And I don't wanna hear some nonsense about how our O-line is great or whatever. We got zero pressure. Not even a sniff. The few times we did get pressure, I would look at who was playing O-line and it would be some 3rd string player or a walk-on. Alot of times our D-linemen look like they're playing pattycake and hand fighting out there instead of rushing "half-a-man" and creating vertical penetration. SMH

Because they were!! Half the OL is hurt. You really think they were gonna send the house after Morris and back up OL?
