After Duke... Hagans is our best running back wouldnt mind him losing 10 pounds before the season starts. Crawford should only be catching screens, Dillards not ready yet and I dont see him ever playing here(assuming we get SOny) He is not Miami caliber. Move him to fullback already. We are incredibly thin at Running back..SMH. We better hope Gus Edwards is the real deal. If DUke goes down season over.

Was wrong about Herb.. not a burner but he is a playmaker..hope he doesnt have a broken collar bone. Dam Scott is a beast. Dorsett and Scott should be starting Wr's
With Waters and Hurns right there.

Tracy Howard is not agressive enough as a corner. Crawford is better at this time. I dont see the instincts i saw in high school looks like hes not playing with confidence.

MOrris has obviously been working on his fade patterns and back shoulder throws.... Much improved from last year. That should help our redzone offense.

Sandland is not the gamebreaker I thought he would be. Doesnt mean he cant be really good for us. But internet had me thinking he was the making of the next Jeremy Shockey and he is not. Hands seem good maybe he has the nuances to create separation but he is not the tight end to line up out wide and out athletic a DB.

Defense was supposedly playing vanilla so really cant judge. Perryman made the most plays though.

Agree with ur write up except the Sandland part. He has to adjust to big time college ball. Nobody knew who Shockey was until the FSU catch. His confidence went thru the roof after that and the rest is history. Let's give him a chance..

I agree about Tracy tho. He's not playing with confidence. He needs a "game changer". If he shuts down those UF receivers then I think that's the mojo he will need.

1. Defense played not to hurt anybody or get hurt

2. All man coverage with no blitzes or real attempt to hit QB so CBs can't really be judged

3. Crawford is shifty as **** but isn't a real RB. More of a pass catcher

4. Carter is going to be good

5. Ryan Williams is not going to start next year

6. Mo Hagens is a **** good RB if he cuts down to 230 pounds.

I thought Sandland was solid. He had around 6 catches for like 50 yards. Not bad. Im interested in the battle between Sandland and Walford come fall. I think Sandland may get the job.

Guys Shockey wasnt "Jeremy Shockey" gamebreaker in the first spring going into his junior year. Give the guy some time, Dude is probably still thinking out there where to line up and such. He has been here a month, regardless if he comes from the best juco in the land there is a difference to big time D1 ball. Lets let him get to a real game, I think he will adjust well in the passing game aspect once he gets acclimated and isnt thinking soo much.

What he really needs to work on is gettin psychically stronger because at point of attack he doesnt seem to hold up well in blocking. I know in high school he was more big receiver and blew up size wise when he went juco, hopefully his strength catches up to his size.

The whole offense to me was on point today. Tracy right now has confidence issues and this monster offense isn't helping but to me he just needs 1 game breaking moment and he will be back.

I don't think Shockey played in the spring game before the 2000 season, in fact, I'm quite crtain he did not.

If FAU receivers beast Howard, then we have a problem. But, guys, he's going up against a stack receiving corp and an elite QB. This will only make him better!

Expectations are a little high for Tracy. Not all studs in HS translate to D1 ball quickly. Give him his time

1. Howard did what he could. Scott is our best WR and probably a future NFL guy. The play where Howard got beat by Scott for the TD was perfect coverage and a perfect throw. Howard tried to rake the ball out once Scott got his hands on it, which is all he can do is that situation. Scott is 3 inches taller and 20+ pounds heavier than him.

2. Morris looked goooooood boyyyyyy.

3. Minus a couple runs by Duke, I thought our run defense looked a little better.

4. I still hate our blitz schemes. Even when we send the house we don't get to the QB. Same **** we saw last year.

5. Our WR core is just foolish. Hurns and Dorsett weren't even playing today, which is even more crazy.

6. I didn't think the squads were split up fairly. The orange team's offensive line (if I remember correctly) was Flowers, Bunches, Wheeler, Isadora and Henderson. That's **** near our starting O-line. (about as good)

7. What a class act Golden is with the Malcolm play. Also thought it was cool what he did with Andre and Gino.

8. I think that overall our defense looks much improved. They don't look as lost as they did last season. Even when the offense makes a nice play our defensive players are atleast in position to contend it.

9. Finally...something I'm really concerned about...OUR PASS RUSH. It's non-existent. And I don't wanna hear some nonsense about how our O-line is great or whatever. We got zero pressure. Not even a sniff. The few times we did get pressure, I would look at who was playing O-line and it would be some 3rd string player or a walk-on. Alot of times our D-linemen look like they're playing pattycake and hand fighting out there instead of rushing "half-a-man" and creating vertical penetration. SMH

so in one paragraph we have 4 nfl receivers....and then our corners suck...

which is it....

You're correct.
Shockey came aboard late in the 2000 offseason.
He was not on our (media/fan/etc) radar until he showed up in August of 2000.
In fact, I think he showed up late to camp.
He was one of those surprises alongside Santonio Thomas and Jerome McDougle.
From what I recall with Shockey, his JUCO coach had no idea he was leaving for UM
as he had another year left to play at his school.
And when he did show up, he was impressive from the get-go -- so the above poster
who claimed that he struggled in his first spring practice must have him confused with
someone else.

Morris looked great.

Hagens is the second best back. Crawford more of a 3rd down/slot guy.

Sandland, give him a chance this is the best comp he has ever seen in his life. He will adjust and be better.

The D I couldnt really judge it was just a base d with man to man cov.

Overall I thought it was a pretty fun day for the players,ex players and fans.
