Look the banners noise stuff is what this fan base is and has always been, yall should know this, you think bama fans would be quite saban had the same record as golden? They would do a lot worse than a banner, this banner stuff aint new, we did it for butch, sh¡t no one complained about the banner thanking golden and the troll, you gotta win to get respect in this town, when sporano was the coach for the phins people where putting banners and wearing bags on their heads every day in front of the the facilities for weeks, you gotta accept thats the way it is, honestly not winning is hurting us more than the banners, and if we were winning we would be getting some more recruits, and everything would be ok, but he isnt winning hence the public out cry for change

No Bama fan would be out there trying to get recruits to not come to their school so they can blow it all up and force a change. That i can guarantee you.

The banner isnt saying to recruits not to come here its saying get rid of the coach, theres a difference and bama fans have threatened a recruits life for not going to their school, thats pretty bad, but they still seem to have a number one class every year even with that incident

No, but the incessant negativity does have an impact. Again, multiple recruits, and parents, have said so themselves. You have "fans" saying that recruits are "stupid" or "don't know anything about football" if they decide to come here. So yeah, that's not going to leave a bad taste in the recruits' mouth. While "this how the fan base is" as you said in another post, that doesn't make it any better. It just means that "how the fan base is" is a combination of bandwagon and trashy.

The banner has nothing to do with guys telling kids not to come here, its stating to get rid of the coach what part of that dont you understand? Ive stated multiple times to leave recruits alone

There's going to be a ****ed off fan base as a symptom of a decade of losing.

Stop trying to put a bandaid on a gunshot wound. Sure, there are going to be a few idiots that do something dumb every once in a while. But those idiots are at every school.

If all the fans ban together, and sellout every game next year, top recruits still won't come here because losing sucks! And Al Golden does it a lot.

The banner is a symptom. It's time to treat the disease.

Fly the ******* banner!

Im curious how long have some of you against the banners been canes fans?

I only ask because the banner thing has been a norm

Since I was born, mia is all I know. We flew 3 banners last year and the admin didn't flinch. What's the point of you know they aren't going to do anything until during or after the sEason. I would bet a 1000$ that he will not be fired before the season. I also bet it would hurt recruiting too as well.... I'm worried about the implications it would have with recruits and players at the spring game. Do you want mia players saying how sorry we are on social media because we flew a banner at the spring game? Do you want to leave a bad taste in a recruits mouth when they visit.

Ive been around recruits, not winning is hurting us more than this banner stuff trust me, if we had a 10 win season last year and we should have had one none of this would be happening

Been a 'Canes fan for a good 35 years or so, since I was a kid and started watching football. Always been my team and my #1 focus as far as sports go at any level (I'd watch a 'Canes game over the Superbowl if I had to choose). Went to UM and got my degree there in '94. Got my son bleeding orange and green as well, to the point that he draws the "U" on pretty much every paper he gets his hands on.

The banner thing is juvenile, disruptive, embarrassing, and makes the fanbase look bad. Yes, the UM fanbase is widely considered to have a pretty large trashy component...and the truth is, it does.

Then you should be used to it and know that the only way for all of it to stop is to win

...and driving away recruits makes it harder to win. We are already handicapped by poor coaching. Adding a further handicap because the fans are ranting, raving idiots doesn't help get back to winning.

Both are stupid. Both are being done by a lot of the same people. Regardless, the negativity of the banner, especially during a recruiting event, doesn't have a single positive impact, and no matter how much anyone want to deny it, DOES have a negative impact on recruiting.

No, the banner and the idiot fans are a secondary infection that is making it even harder to cure the disease.

But the banner doesn't, and never will, help us win more. So even if the negative impact is less than that of not winning, it still has a negative impact overall. So piling a negative on top of a negative doesn't make things better. All it does is make a bunch of losers feel like the are "doing something" when all they are really doing is piling on the damage.

In the end not winning is the biggest negative in recruiting, not a banner

So what? How does adding to the negative in recruiting help anything? These "fans" think that ranting and raving so they feel better and feel less impotent is more important than the damage they do. Again, yes, lack of winning is the biggest problem. Adding to that and making it even harder to win, is therefore really, really stupid.

I'm curious to know...how many of the people here supported flying the banner when Butch was coach and is now calling to bring him back...

We'll never know the truth to that one, but strangely enough ALL the people wanting to fly a banner now knew full well during Butch's struggles that he was the right man for the job. Seems weird to me, but that's what I'm seeing.

All im saying is that is how this fan base is, always has been always will be, the only cure to it is winning, same with eagles fans, same with bama/auburn fans

This has gone way beyond "outspoken." It's become irrational, overblown, and just plain ridiculous. Golden gets blamed if a player catches the flu.

So you think adding on to it is helping? Do you seriously think a banner helps miami in recruiting in any way? If you do then I feel sorry for you man

Well have students marched on campus for his firing? Because they did that at michigan, is that more extreme than a banner?

And for your statement about him getting blamed for everything, hes the head coach, all the blame with anything is on the coach, its like that in every sport

All im saying is that is how this fan base is, always has been always will be, the only cure to it is winning, same with eagles fans, same with bama/auburn fans

..and all I'm saying is these same "fans" are hurting the program they claim to care about. The only cure is winning, but they are making it even harder to win on top of the coaching problems. These same "fans" are the ones that will attack Golden for "losing" a recruit, even if the recruit decided not to sign because of the negativity. Thankfully Walton ultimately signed with us, had he not, the "fans" would claim Golden "missed" on him, despite Walton clearly saying that the fan behavior had been making him rethink whether to come to UM or not. So whine, *****, moan, rant, rave and act like a lunatic all you want, but realize that there are negative consequences that come with it.

Never said it does, i said that recruits care more about winning than the banner stuff, you think fans threatening a recruit for going to a rival helps recruiting?

I'm curious to know...how many of the people here supported flying the banner when Butch was coach and is now calling to bring him back...

The same people that are against the banner now, are probably the same people that kept their mouths shut when the banner was flown against Randy Shannon. "What's good for the goose, is good for the gander."
