Got real tired of that Pistol stretch run play and putting Malcolm Lewis in as the only WR on running plays was PAINFULLY ******* OBVIOUS.

It's amazing how people blame everything on players. Morris threw a lot of slants under Fisch. I remember one against K St that Walford took way down. Then there was another against ND on that first drive....A bunch actually. So dude plays all ACC under Fisch. We are all excited. We bring in a rookie play caller and it's all the QB's fault? Morris was not great by any means but Coley has a lot to improve on play calling. Some of you are so blinded it ridiculous.

All-ACC? No chance. Before the final three games in 2012 against UVA, USF and the Duke we're all used to he had 12 TDs and 7 ints. He lights up those 3 and his numbers become respectable. Morris beat up on minnows and collapsed against good competition. He also didn't throw a bunch of slants. The only time we pounded the middle of the field was against GT in the comeback in 2012. Go look at Morris highlights from that year. Deep balls, seam throws and outs.

Coley was coaching around Morris in a lot of regards. It's pretty obvious when an OC doesn't fully trust his QB.

THIS. Dump the ball to Duke is a high percentage play. We relied too much on Morris' arm and he never checked down to wide open backs out of the backfield. We have the tools to go deep, intermediate, and short. The Qb has to incorporate the entire weaponry at his disposal. Duke vs a linebacker is a tremendous advantage that we MUST utilize!

Morris really hindered this offense last year, he rarely ever looked at the underneath routes

Both Coley & Morris should share the blame.

Morris was just a loaded gun that needed proper guidance.

I do a question his QB lQ.

This. There is a reason some people liked Fisch. He called plays that generally put his players in a position to succeed. He put faith in the players to make the plays. Yes he called some trick plays or tried to throw occasional passes on 3rd and short, but it wasn't like our offense suffered and sometimes you have to take a chance to do something different.

As far as Morris not taking the underneath stuff, its difficult when most of the time all of your receivers are running fly routes or something more than 15 yards deep.

Morris had no problem dumping the ball to Duke and executing screens under Fisch. He suddenly dud last seasons. It's not all his fault. You guys are short sighted and biased.

Sounds like your talking about No D

The kid was running for his life almost every snap - and I dont mean on the deep routes --- even in the shotgun he didnt have time

Absolutely false. SM had no pocket presence and rarely made multiple reads . Normally he'd make one read, then roll out. Usually ending up in a throw away or run out of bounds.

This....also, to say the staff didn't call inside passes is stupid. The route trees clearly had inside routes, Morris just never went to them. Granted that maybe because he seemed incapable of multiple reads, but that's on Morris. I expect us to be a much more efficient offense this year, especially on third down.

He wasn't good last year and he wasn't good in 2012. Erratic both years and under 60%. If he got to play the 2012 versions of UVA, Duke and USF all the time he would win the Heisman.

The only people who ever were inside were the TE and the occasionally the rb. The greatest strength of using a TE in the passing game is to take advantage of a lb essentially covering a receiver, but that doesn't work when the TE runs the same 5 yard hitch routes and the WR are always running deep. It's too predictable and the LB gets to stand by and wait for the qb to try and make the pass.

Duke had 4 catches last year. That's not just Morris. U guys blame Highsmith and Rodgers etc for every problem on D and every problem on O on Morris.

Anyone wanting Morris to test the middle of the field must've enjoyed watching Jacory Harris throw those lofted seam routes in 2011. Two OCs and Morris rarely tried to throw the ball in that area.

It's swings and roundabouts.

Fisch was/is undoubtedly a better play caller, but Coley is undoubtedly a better recruiter. He's learning on the job as a play caller.

I definitely subscribe to the Jimmy's and Joe's rather than the X's and O's when it comes to college football. It's looking more and more like Coley is a big part of recruiting a monstrously talented football team. I'll take that over a better play caller, even though I really liked Fisch.

### There will be subtle changes in UM’s offense: Expect a more controlled passing game (bubble screens, short and intermediate routes) with fewer deep balls. UM will still try to go deep selectively but likely not as much as Stephen Morris did.

### UM loves what freshman running back*Joe Yearby*is going to*add, and coordinator James Coley said there’s a package with both Yearby and Duke Johnson playing together (with one lining up at receiver).

If this is the case, Coley should study really Sean Payton. But Coley hasn't developed that "feel" for play calling, imo.

I'm reserving judgement on this years play calling and such until I see some action.

As for SteMo and last year, I can't remember how many times we saw an open short yardage play and he threw the ball directly into the ******* dirt at the receivers feet. I think that ****ed me off the most. After 2 downs of missing easy grabs or throwing out of bounds, we went to the only thing that worked consistently - the deep ball. By consistently I mean more consistent that the alternatives, not that it was 90% success.
