Sports Buzz: Aggressive D Next Year?

Give it up already with the fire D'Onofrio non sense. He is not going anywhere, nor should he

I sincerely mean this: go kill yourself. Right now. Close your laptop and die.

You exemplify everything that is wrong with the Miami Hurricanes fan base. For the last week, you've been acting like an emotional woman posting the dumbest comments and not backing anything you say (or shout) with any facts or analysis.

There is nothing wrong with criticizing the staff, but this blood lust for D'Onofrio and Golden is very poorly thought out and juvenile. Name 1 coach out there that you would replace Golden with? Name 1 DC that is good enough that would make Golden change his defensive philosophy. There are none.

Golden inherited a program that 1. always trails behind State schools because it is a private institution and lacks money and resources in comparison. 2. Had 2 previous back to back Head Coaches that were so bad it might be justifiable to charge them criminally for their ineptitude and neglect regarding this program. 3. Inherits the 2009/2010 joke of a class (particularly defensively) followed up with only having a month to scrape to complete the 2011 class that Randy just abandoned. 4. Gets hit with sanctions which act like probation on this program for the last 2 1/2 years (ask yourself if we get an additional 4/8 blue chippers over the last 2 years if those sanctions aren't there; I say we would have). 5. Worst fan base in America period.

You all should be thanking this man for sticking it through, but instead, Miami fans do what they always do... Grab the pitchforks and throw them at the nearest scapegoat.

So WhatTheHell, do me a favor and take that tampon and pull it out and just calm down. You are proof that Posts do not equal credibility.

There's another one of the UM football offices propaganda accounts that just started posting. That's about 6 of them that just sprung up since we went down the toilet this year.

What was that Ad hominem Cane... I mean The Franchise? Look dude... I don't care if you don't know who I am, it doesn't change the arguments. Deal with them.

A whole lot what you say is true. But throwing out the old "Worst fan base" is just crap. That horrible fan base provided the background, noise and terror for the longest home winning streak in college history--beating Bama's own under the Bear. Our fans and the OB provided a killing field for some of the greatest players ever. There is nothing wrong with our fan base that winning will not fix. How full has the Swamp been lately? Were we wrong hunting for Coker's head of Randy's. If anything we were late on both. Most of us understand recruiting weakness is and has been the biggest problem, particularly at DT. Our problem is that given that known weakness, a DC making 500K a year should be able to devise a D that can hold SOMEONE, ANYONE to less than 500 yards. And when that 500K DC happens to be the BFF of the HC, you better believe the heat is hotter. Bobby Bowden crippled his tenure not by having a OC that sucked, by that OC being his frigging son and sucking and refusal to take action.

I agree we are lucky to have Al. But that is because of his recruiting, and CEO skills. His defense and his DC do not appear such stroke of luck.

I agree with what you are saying for the most part, but we have to have a sense of perspective when judging this staff. This program has been neglected for a decade before Golden got here. The cupboard is bear. There is very little to work with.

Most fans on the site that I post on thought we would go 8-4/9-3 type season and they were right (the homer in me made me go 11-1). We got sucked into the hype machine this year sitting at 7-0 when we really had no business being there.

Again, look this roster up and down... Peel the onion and be honest about what you find there. Most of our play makers on both sides of the ball are underclassmen. We are doing a lot with smoke and mirrors. This team needs a year or 2 more worth of U-tough and top classes before we contend and stay there.

Hey Gardenstatecane....just letting you know this is not allowed in here so GTFOH

This team needs 2 more years of a lot...what it cannot afford to have is one more year of Dorito

I am starting to get really scared that we hold on to d'onifrio.

I don't know if I could stomach it and go through more of the same next year

No D is staying, Golden is not letting go off of him. Sad to say but Goldn has used up all his good will this year. We are breaking in a new QB next year, you would think a 4th year DC should be able to be the strength of the team. It could get ugly, every game is a toss up with this defense if we are not completely underdogs. Those clamoring for No D to stay just know you are writing Golden's pink slip, trust me, it get ugly fast at Miami....banners and shhh

Barry jackson said last night that the hope was with the secondary having more experince and being better in coverage that they will go to a more aggressive approach on D.

Well it looks like d'onofrio will get at least 1 more year.

Don't belive it because those uva & temple defenses wasn't that aggressive. I guess it's a wait and see.

Your front 4 should be the ones that determine how aggressive you are - more so than back 4 imo

D'Onofrio lost his job LAST WEEK. Why do people keep harping on it? D'Onofrio WILL NOT be part of the staff next year. Can we move on to another topic. Despite what Golden says, D'Onofrio is no longer a long-term employee of UM. He will depart after the bowl game. We are stuck with him until mid-January.

^^^^^ ( @ Gardenstatecane) Thanks for the post, Coach d'oNOfrio! I didn't know u perused these boards. The bottom line is that, We have some passionate and somewhat crazed fans (who doesn't?) that are fed up wit the crappy defense we have been force-fed for 3 years! As a whole, We like Golden, but this historically bad defense that you continue to put on the field week after week, is making a lot of us raise an eyebrow and question whether he is the man to lead us BACK!!! Most of us are concerned that you are going to cost your bff, Al his job!
Get off of the fan boards, and learn how to properly run a **** defense or both of your a$$es will be on the unemployment line!!!

This right here.

Yep.

You have to have big powerful d-lineman to 2 gap in a 3-4.

Bama brings in huge d-lineman every year and just got a commit from a 4 star that is 6'4 340.

We don't get the players for that. That got a earl moore who came in at 280-285 trying to turn him into a NT.

SoFla talent base = round hole

3-4 2-gapping defense = square peg

Exactly. It's being said they're recruiting for their system, but so far, it doesn't appear to be that way. I, for the life of me, can't understand this. If you're going to recruit S.FL talent, play to their strengths, not your wants. A good coach(es) will do this every time.

I think he wants that free trip to BOLIVIA

Give it up already with the fire D'Onofrio non sense. He is not going anywhere, nor should he. This is not a coaching issue, it's a talent and depth issue (****ty 2009/2010 classes combined with the patch job 2011 class)that was exacerbated by the loss of key offensive personnel (Duke/Dorsett etc) which stunted our offense and has kept our defense on the field longer than they should be. And the bottom line about this whole entire issue is that even if Golden were to get rid of D'ono, he would replace him with someone with the exact same philosophy on defense because it is Golden's philosophy to begin with.

Agree

I still don't understand these people who parrot the talent argument. We do not, I repeat do not need "first day" NFL talent to prevent bottom dwelling ACC teams from putting 500 yards and loads of points on us. Moreover, NO Miami fan expected or expects us to be Bama or FSU. That is nothing but a strawman.

Let us wager. I am willing to bet $500 a poster, up to $5,000 total. I will send DMoney a check and he can place it on escrow. If Spring ball starts and D'Onofrio is here, then I lose. If he is no longer the DC, I win. They may keep him to National Signing Day but he will be gone by Spring ball.

You guys like to pontificate. Put some cash down. I am up to $5,000 total. You seem confident, so do I, so we will wager. Let me know who is in!

We are doing a lot with smoke and mirrors. This team needs a year or 2 more worth of U-tough and top classes before we can beat Duke and keep them from running the train on us 48-30, racking up 350+ yards rushing in the process.

Reread that last paragraph and you just might understand how stupid it all sounds.

If it weren't for the talent we have, we would be sitting at 5-6, not 8-3, solely on the scheme dorito runs. But because of the players, not coarch Dorito, we actually have a winning season. Holy crap that anyone would think otherwise. SMFH.

With that said, Coach Golden has the support of 99% of this fan base and they expect him to bring in even greater talent. And no one is under the impression that we have all-americans all over the place, because we don't. But we **** sure have the players to beat Duke, which we didn't. THAT loss alone exposes the greatest impediment to our team progressing any further. Coach Dorito and his ****-for-brains, quasi-prevent defense.

If you respond at all to this answer this one question. Is Duke more talented than Miami? Simple yes or no will suffice.

Here's to hoping Pitt drops 50 and Golden is forced to fire his buddy. D'Onofrio is not the long term answer defensively.

God damnit I wish he would've taken the Temple job.

Wow what a ******* joke. Go be a fan of another team if you ever want us to lose. My god you are th poster child for ****** miami fans
