Sports Buzz: Aggressive D Next Year?

Here's to hoping Pitt drops 50 and Golden is forced to fire his buddy. D'Onofrio is not the long term answer defensively.

God damnit I wish he would've taken the Temple job.

WOW you actually would wish our team to lose in the hopes they fire D'Onofrio???

You would then probably complain too about the loss afterward right?

More aggressive D should equal Dorito fired.

I agree. Dorito might build in some more aggressive schemes into his D next year but its simply not who he is. The D he runs now is the D he's most comfortable with. I suspect next year's alleged aggressive blitz schemes will feature DB's who drop so far off the ball as a hedge that the check down route will be available every time. This will lead to success against the weaker offenses and failure against the better ones. Kinda like everything else we've seen from dorito.

Its time for a change at DC in my opinion.

I believe that we heard this last year. Bottom line is you have to walk before you can run. Regardless of what they WANT to do next year, until they prove they CAN do one thing successfully, they will be handcuffed. That's D's current problem, and it's not purely about talent. It's just as much about execution.

Who the **** is responsible for defensive execution? ****. He's had 3 years to get this defense executing and if he still can't do it then he needs to go.

Give it up already with the fire D'Onofrio non sense. He is not going anywhere, nor should he

.

You exemplify everything that is wrong with the Miami Hurricanes fan base. For the last week, you've been acting like an emotional woman posting the dumbest comments and not backing anything you say (or shout) with any facts or analysis.

There is nothing wrong with criticizing the staff, but this blood lust for D'Onofrio and Golden is very poorly thought out and juvenile. Name 1 coach out there that you would replace Golden with? Name 1 DC that is good enough that would make Golden change his defensive philosophy. There are none.

Golden inherited a program that 1. always trails behind State schools because it is a private institution and lacks money and resources in comparison. 2. Had 2 previous back to back Head Coaches that were so bad it might be justifiable to charge them criminally for their ineptitude and neglect regarding this program. 3. Inherits the 2009/2010 joke of a class (particularly defensively) followed up with only having a month to scrape to complete the 2011 class that Randy just abandoned. 4. Gets hit with sanctions which act like probation on this program for the last 2 1/2 years (ask yourself if we get an additional 4/8 blue chippers over the last 2 years if those sanctions aren't there; I say we would have). 5. Worst fan base in America period.

You all should be thanking this man for sticking it through, but instead, Miami fans do what they always do... Grab the pitchforks and throw them at the nearest scapegoat.

So WhatTheHell, do me a favor and take that tampon and pull it out and just calm down. You are proof that Posts do not equal credibility.

^^^^^ ( @ Gardenstatecane) Thanks for the post, Coach d'oNOfrio! I didn't know u perused these boards. The bottom line is that, We have some passionate and somewhat crazed fans (who doesn't?) that are fed up wit the crappy defense we have been force-fed for 3 years! As a whole, We like Golden, but this historically bad defense that you continue to put on the field week after week, is making a lot of us raise an eyebrow and question whether he is the man to lead us BACK!!! Most of us are concerned that you are going to cost your bff, Al his job!
Get off of the fan boards, and learn how to properly run a **** defense or both of your a$$es will be on the unemployment line!!!

This right here.

If fsu didn't have the "talent" to run the 3-4 scheme that Pruitt brought from Bama what makes you think we will ever have the "talent" to succeed with Dorito?

Give it up already with the fire D'Onofrio non sense. He is not going anywhere, nor should he. This is not a coaching issue, it's a talent and depth issue (****ty 2009/2010 classes combined with the patch job 2011 class)that was exacerbated by the loss of key offensive personnel (Duke/Dorsett etc) which stunted our offense and has kept our defense on the field longer than they should be. And the bottom line about this whole entire issue is that even if Golden were to get rid of D'ono, he would replace him with someone with the exact same philosophy on defense because it is Golden's philosophy to begin with.

Boulschitt. An attacking defense is an attacking defense, regardless of personnel.

A passive defense, stocked with five stars three deep, is still a passive defense, and will get it's head handed to it.

D'Onofrio only knows one thing. ****, he can't even make adjustments at halftime - as passive doesn't allow for anything else.

Like saying Saban is going to coach baseball.

I agree....what players are NFL on offense? ??? hurns will be a dog fight, henderson and linder will get looks but all over the place? On D ? perryman is in the same boat as sharpton or Spence...maybe 3rd or 4th... not the talent you think in the next two years...as for Duke, he is undersized and hurt a lot at this level...

down the road..
Dallas, Duke, Dorsett will get looks 4th round in 2015.....Flowers will be a top pick Coley is becoming our best player...

hard to tell the future, but we dont all the players you all think we do....time time time

Lol Duke is projected on all mock drafts in 2015 as a late 1st round pick.. He can return kicks and will be big enough in todays NFL.. Dallas will not leave early for the draft..

If that got him canned I'm willing to suffer through it.

You have to have big powerful d-lineman to 2 gap in a 3-4.

Bama brings in huge d-lineman every year and just got a commit from a 4 star that is 6'4 340.

We don't get the players for that. That got a earl moore who came in at 280-285 trying to turn him into a NT.

SoFla talent base = round hole

3-4 2-gapping defense = square peg

A whole lot what you say is true. But throwing out the old "Worst fan base" is just crap. That horrible fan base provided the background, noise and terror for the longest home winning streak in college history--beating Bama's own under the Bear. Our fans and the OB provided a killing field for some of the greatest players ever. There is nothing wrong with our fan base that winning will not fix. How full has the Swamp been lately? Were we wrong hunting for Coker's head of Randy's. If anything we were late on both. Most of us understand recruiting weakness is and has been the biggest problem, particularly at DT. Our problem is that given that known weakness, a DC making 500K a year should be able to devise a D that can hold SOMEONE, ANYONE to less than 500 yards. And when that 500K DC happens to be the BFF of the HC, you better believe the heat is hotter. Bobby Bowden crippled his tenure not by having a OC that sucked, by that OC being his frigging son and sucking and refusal to take action.

I agree we are lucky to have Al. But that is because of his recruiting, and CEO skills. His defense and his DC do not appear such stroke of luck.

Gardenstatecane... You go to school with Golden or Coach D'Ono... I see u from Jersey it's only right i asked

We have NFL players all over the field on offense, and we can't even come CLOSE to competeing for the ACC Coastal, the worst BCS division in football.

We get absolutely blown out whenever we play a top 20 team. Blown out. And we get blown out when we play unranked teams.

Do ypu know how far away we are from competing for even an ACC championship?

If we had Duke's offense, we would go 0-12 this year. THAT is what Dorito gives us.

Besides Duke and Coley, both underclassmen mind you, who on this offense is a first day pick? Besides Perrymen on defense, who I am not convinced is a first day pick this year, who is a first day pick?

Compare this defense up and down to FSU or Bama or any other legit top 10 team and you will see very quickly that the roster isn't there yet.

I get it... it's frustrating, but it is what it is. This was never a revamp job, it was always a rebuild. Some of our fans never figured it out and that is the real problem.

You need first round or first day picks to keep Virginia and Virginia Tech, 2 of the worst offenses in college football, not the ACC, college football, from gaining 500 yards? No, you don't. Do you need all those NFL players to keep Duke from rushing for 358 yards? No, you don't. Troy and North Carolina Central didn't, and Duke didn't run all over them. No one is asking for a Top 5 defense. I'm not even asking for a Top 40 defense at this point. What we have is unacceptable.

Lulz at going aggressive next year. With the coastal on the line why not go aggressive this year? It's not in golden or Doritos DNA. Golden is just buying another year for his friend. Nepotism at its finest. Golden will lose his job because of this.
