Barry jackson said last night that the hope was with the secondary having more experince and being better in coverage that they will go to a more aggressive approach on D.

Well it looks like d'onofrio will get at least 1 more year.

Don't belive it because those uva & temple defenses wasn't that aggressive. I guess it's a wait and see.

Miami get's screwed by the ol' "Next year! Yeah, That's the ticket! Next year!" trick. 3 years of the worst defense in history, but next year Dorito makes changes. Yeah.

Give it up already with the fire D'Onofrio non sense. He is not going anywhere, nor should he. This is not a coaching issue, it's a talent and depth issue (****** 2009/2010 classes combined with the patch job 2011 class)that was exacerbated by the loss of key offensive personnel (Duke/Dorsett etc) which stunted our offense and has kept our defense on the field longer than they should be. And the bottom line about this whole entire issue is that even if Golden were to get rid of D'ono, he would replace him with someone with the exact same philosophy on defense because it is Golden's philosophy to begin with.

If it's talent, fire whoever is responsible for recruiting on D.

3 years, and he can't get a defense that is 1/10th as good as Duke? Fire his ***.

I'm fine with keeping D'onofrio next year. If he sucks again, Miami needs to FIRE both D'onofrio and Golden. If Golden is dump enough to keep him, he should be shown the door with him.

Here's to hoping Pitt drops 50 and Golden is forced to fire his buddy. D'Onofrio is not the long term answer defensively.

God damnit I wish he would've taken the Temple job.

You exemplify everything that is wrong with the Miami Hurricanes fan base. For the last week, you've been acting like an emotional woman posting the dumbest comments and not backing anything you say (or shout) with any facts or analysis.

There is nothing wrong with criticizing the staff, but this blood lust for D'Onofrio and Golden is very poorly thought out and juvenile. Name 1 coach out there that you would replace Golden with? Name 1 DC that is good enough that would make Golden change his defensive philosophy. There are none.

Golden inherited a program that 1. always trails behind State schools because it is a private institution and lacks money and resources in comparison. 2. Had 2 previous back to back Head Coaches that were so bad it might be justifiable to charge them criminally for their ineptitude and neglect regarding this program. 3. Inherits the 2009/2010 joke of a class (particularly defensively) followed up with only having a month to scrape to complete the 2011 class that Randy just abandoned. 4. Gets hit with sanctions which act like probation on this program for the last 2 1/2 years (ask yourself if we get an additional 4/8 blue chippers over the last 2 years if those sanctions aren't there; I say we would have). 5. Worst fan base in America period.

You all should be thanking this man for sticking it through, but instead, Miami fans do what they always do... Grab the pitchforks and throw them at the nearest scapegoat.

So WhatTheHell, do me a favor and take that tampon and pull it out and just calm down. You are proof that Posts do not equal credibility.

I believe that we heard this last year. Bottom line is you have to walk before you can run. Regardless of what they WANT to do next year, until they prove they CAN do one thing successfully, they will be handcuffed. That's D's current problem, and it's not purely about talent. It's just as much about execution.

If Dorito isn't fired, , then Golden should be fired.

This is just sickening. 3 years, and it gets worse every game. But next year! Yeah, that will be different? Please.

We have NFL players all over the field on offense, and we can't even come CLOSE to competeing for the ACC Coastal, the worst BCS division in football.

We get absolutely blown out whenever we play a top 20 team. Blown out. And we get blown out when we play unranked teams.

Do ypu know how far away we are from competing for even an ACC championship?

If we had Duke's offense, we would go 0-12 this year. THAT is what Dorito gives us.

Besides Duke and Coley, both underclassmen mind you, who on this offense is a first day pick? Besides Perrymen on defense, who I am not convinced is a first day pick this year, who is a first day pick?

Compare this defense up and down to FSU or Bama or any other legit top 10 team and you will see very quickly that the roster isn't there yet.

I get it... it's frustrating, but it is what it is. This was never a revamp job, it was always a rebuild. Some of our fans never figured it out and that is the real problem.

^^^^^ ( @ Gardenstatecane) Thanks for the post, Coach d'oNOfrio! I didn't know u perused these boards. The bottom line is that, We have some passionate and somewhat crazed fans (who doesn't?) that are fed up wit the crappy defense we have been force-fed for 3 years! As a whole, We like Golden, but this historically bad defense that you continue to put on the field week after week, is making a lot of us raise an eyebrow and question whether he is the man to lead us BACK!!! Most of us are concerned that you are going to cost your bff, Al his job!
Get off of the fan boards, and learn how to properly run a **** defense or both of your a$$es will be on the unemployment line!!!

I don't buy this excuse. Maybe I would if we could stop opposing teams on 3rd down early in the game and then got exhausted by the end of the game but we struggle from the start. Our defense doesn't stink because of offensive three and outs. If they could occasionally FORCE a 3 and out on the other team they'd be on the field alot less. Whether it's the scheme, the game planning, the recruiting... it all falls back on the coaches. And our recruiting classes, even in those terrible years, were still far better than the Wakes and Dukes of the world.

At this point, my only hope is that maybe in a year or two, Golden can assemble so much talent that it covers up our coaches shortcomings.

I sincerely mean this: go kill yourself. Right now. Close your laptop and die.

There's another one of the UM football offices propaganda accounts that just started posting. That's about 6 of them that just sprung up since we went down the toilet this year.

Not many on this board are expecting this team to play like Bama or FSU... but they understandably expect them to not have a horrible UVA offense march up and down the field all day. Same with WF and UNC teams that had exactly 1 threat which we still couldn't contain.

People really aren't asking for much. I agree it was a rebuild but in year 3 we should be seeing improvement and there hasn't been much. Frankly our team looks like it's getting worse which has been the case for quite some years now.

I agree....what players are NFL on offense? ??? hurns will be a dog fight, henderson and linder will get looks but all over the place? On D ? perryman is in the same boat as sharpton or Spence...maybe 3rd or 4th... not the talent you think in the next two years...as for Duke, he is undersized and hurt a lot at this level...

down the road..
Dallas, Duke, Dorsett will get looks 4th round in 2015.....Flowers will be a top pick Coley is becoming our best player...

hard to tell the future, but we dont all the players you all think we do....time time time

I see 100 threads on the defense and the amount of yards we give up. I don't see one thread about the 160 points we let up over the last 4 games.

We out yarded Duke, we lost.

UVA out yarded us (almost 200 more), we win.

Our defense needs to keep points off the **** board, over the last 4 weeks the opposing offense has scored a ton but nobody leads with this stuff.
