Spoke to someone close to the Coley situation (non-Miami)

I see your point/ But as devils advocate You could substitute the name Fisch everywhere it says Coley.

Not sure how I would feel about this. Would it be a massive blow to FSU? Yes. Would it put us in a better position to compete nationally? Don't think so. Coley's got 1 year of playcalling experience for a terrible football team. I'd prefer a professional playcaller, but that's just me. As usual, I'll ride with GoldenAl.

Fisch also spent 5 years in the NFL and was considered a rising bright mind. He was also offered the Seahawks OC job shortly after leaving. I don't see many people offering playcalling duties to Coley. But if Al and Mario believe in him, I'll get in line.

Coley didn't run anything at FSU. Jimbo called the plays, it's his offense.

That's the thing. Hard for me to judge the prospect of this hire, because I don't think he did much at FSU. Word was that Jimbo pretty much limited him to sketching out game plans during the week, and that Jimbo himself called on plays on gameday.

Now that Fisch is gone, going forward I do not want any FSU or UF alum on staff.

Coley is a Miami native and a beast recruiter, but this team can do better and needs to do better than Coley as an OC.

I've very biased here (coley along with Carroll are 2 people who have done a lot for me) but I think he would do a great job and is very bright. Jimbo has his hand on everything and is really smothering his staff.

What do you mean helped you???

I had no clue FSU had a OC. I always thought it was dumbo and his towel boys doing the work.

Why? Because he worked at FSU? Come on man.

I want number 6 and I don't care how we get it. You think you'll mind that Coley is on the sideline when you see 6, Ermon Lane, Chad Thomas, Stacy Coley, Alex Collins, Sony, Dalvin, and the like are tearing it up on the way to a National Championship? **** No.

My source says there is a 50/50 chance we get him and there is a 50/50 chance we land all out target recruits.

do not want, solely based on fsu ties

side note: it's funny that we think this would make fsu fans go on suicide watch, but when we lose mcdonald to uf we don't care

That's because we didn't lose McDonald to UF.

This is akin to when Meyer tried to hire Barrow.

Our offense is going to be massively juiced next season, and unless Coley is a complete incompetent, will be able to deliver good offensive output. (Again, I think next season the y-variable is defensive side). I and most people were ecstatic with Mario coming on board, because he is a great recruiter, even though its generally felt that he's a one or two and out hire. If Coley comes on and balls out recruiting, sealing up some big deals before NSD, and a solid contribution next year, then leaves for something else, that I think is a good deal. By then we're easily a top-15 team...if we haven't knocked on the NC door...Just saying if we can't really block off state of miami the greatest OC on earth won't get UM a ring. At this point AG just needs to keep stacking the talent and cranking the process-wheel.

FIU did have interest in hiring him as a head coach. Stoops wanted to take him to Kentucky as well. He has had interest.

Coley compares to Barrow in value in recruiting....not McDonald

Yes, that is exactly why.

This staff already has great recruiters.

This team needs a teacher at OC. Someone that will develop our QBs.

Just as a high school coach, he is there any time I have a question about anything. Lets me work camps with him, etc. him and BC are some of the best in that area.
