Someone Who Knows Things

When you go back and look at the tape, the mistakes were mind blowing awful.

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde tale at the Safety position last year for our Miami Hurricanes.

The great teams don't have that type of inconsistency.
It drove me nuts. I went back and watched every game. Quarterback and Safety were the worst parts of the team. Even after the D-line went down Guidry manufactured a defense.

Any additional insight on RT depth? Is it your learned friend's belief that none of the young tackles are ready to play meaningful minutes? Is this a reflection on Samson's ability to play tackle?

I am a KK fan so have refrained from criticizing him when he made so many heroic plays. But if we’re being honest that safety play last year was unreliable and definitely cost us games. One play they’d ball out, the next they’d be toasted. JW was just not that good IMO. I actually expect Harris and Powell to play more consistently than them. If they’re healthy, that tandem could look really good given the front seven. I just don’t know about anyone behind them.
Spot on

I don’t think it’s coping either. Harris isn’t Kam or JW in name recognition but I’m a big fan. I think Guidry trusts him based on comments he’s made over the last year. Powell was one of the biggest portal additions given our needs

I'm expecting the floor to be raised. Maybe less INTs but thankfully a lot less busted coverages because of not swinging for the fences.

Agree 100%.

Considering the strength of our offense and front 7, give me the solid, reliable Safeties over the typical "big play or bust" we got from Jwill and (to a lesser extent) Kinchens last season.

I had lunch Friday with someone who knows things. We have been having this same lunch since 2004. He’s been at practices since 1997. Here’s what he had to say:

DL is lights out. Particularly mentioned Bain, Mesidor and Justin Scott. Scott — “day one potential.” Best DL since 2017 easily.

Ward. Best pure thrower we have ever had. Exact quote. No comment on the other QBs.

Loved OL, coaches have been on Carpenter’s *** every practice. Deep and talented. Some concern about RT depth.

Couldn’t say enough about Trader. Smooth smooth smooth. Ny Carr “steal of the class”.

Worries about Safety position.

Arroyo running better than he ever has at Miami. Easy day 2 pick.

Martinez pushing around LBs. Second Level problem.

Brown and Porter are “good not great”. Believes that’s all they have to be with our DL.

“better team than 2017” with “best young talent since 2005”
So, Scott is best DL since 2017? How soon we forget last year and Bain. Comment puts other observations in question.

Carpenter started a lot of games in a major conference. He isn’t going to be Lee but he’s not going to be a liability either.

My fear is still the secondary. Have no faith in that group tbh. Everywhere else I think we are lower playoff tier good
people really should go watch indiana against ohio state, michigan, etc ... carpenter wasn't the issue, he'll be fine in the acc ... starting to believe our dline is really like that

Not knocking your post bruh but this is easy to see if you been paying attention. Your boy knows what he’s talking about. The only surprise is Scott, I didn’t think he was this good this early. Means his ranking was on point

Not surprised about Martinez and the tackling. It’s the first week of camp and we’ve had posters explain the psychology of tackling and how it’s a process preseason. Martinez is providing great process for them.

Also heard that Markeith Williams has 5 picks thru 4 practices.
I heard the same Williams has 5. I think Porter has 4. If I'm not mistaken

where are all the people that didn't want to rely on a freshman DT? like I said WE ARE FINE with Scott and also keep eye on Jones being brought up too here soon
Might want to hit the pause button. In addition to size, strength and conditioning differences between 18 year old and 22 year old college athletes, there is the mental side of the game. Let us see if he/they can handle all those things, then take your victory lap.
