Someone please tell me why we didn't pay Horton to stay?

Horton and Daniels would be a mean tandem right now honestly.
I'd rather use that money to get an Xvaier from Wisconsin and try to snatch Isiah Horton back from Bama. We'd be better offensively getting Horton back too. Horton knows the system, isn't a diva, and a hardworker. Not to forget. Horton is 6-4, 205lbs. Pair Horton with Daniel's and you have two imposing WRs on the outside that can get after it in the run game as well.
I align with this thinking. I would feel very confident if we still had Horton in the fold. We should've done more to keep him.

I think he was feeling some type of way about outplaying Sam Brown and not getting more play tirne

Quite frankly if we just didn’t have brown last year we would have been fine. I do think there was some politics involved. Sam brown was probably getting paid more than Horton last yesr

He requested a salary increase and they offered him his market value and he bailed

I have no sources but this seems pretty cut and dry to me

With that said he would be WR 1 on the roster right now and I believe he’s on an upward trajectory and would’ve been great for us next year. I’m not sure what will happen at Bama though
“I have no sources but here is my headcanon.”

Thanks Aaron, much appreciated.

Horton didn’t know we were getting Beck. He saw he drop off. We offered but he wanted out.

He could always come back. If he could swallow his pride.

It’s not that far fetched lol.

No different than you go to your employer and ask for a raise, they tell you no, and you job shop and leave for another company that offers more money.

I would take Horton over Daniels either way. Horton has improved every year while Daniel’s regressed at LSU.

Horton with Beck would have had potential to be a true WR 1 with another offseason of development. JS level? Obviously not. But 1000 yard season wouldn’t be too crazy to predict.

Horton got more snaps and more targets than Brown and "started" 4 of the last 5 games.

Check yourself before you wreck yourself.

I meant more playing time in general, not necessarily just comparing their snap counts. Other than that long catch and run against USF. Sam brown didn’t do jack last year. He looked soft and took snaps away from other players. How many times did he just fall down on little contact. With how Jojo looked in the bowl game, he would have been better than Sam brown. What I was getting at is that since they probably paid Sam brown a healthy NIL to come here, he was thrown on the field. He also looked like he didn’t give a **** everytime they showed him on the sideline. That drop on 3rd down against Syracuse was pretty bad.

Did you forget about the drop Horton had would have been a TD late in the 'Cuse game?

Considering our biggest need is WR, I wish Horton stayed. We recruited him, you should keep your home grown talent especially at a premium position. Horton and Daniels with a mix of Jojo, Lofton and everyone else chipping in would be a lethal group of weapons. End of the day, the portal gives and takes
