@DMoney did Deion Jackson ever land anywhere?
Kid can play. Watching him right now and already flashed and will probably flash a bunch just like he did when I saw him against Temple.I think we will regret passing on Diego ***ot. Yeah, he’s at Navy but I think he will be big-time and he fits our system even at his size.

Total stud. None of the big 3 offered him. Had an offer from Pitt, but parents are very high on education and life after football (he and his six siblings were/are homeschooled). In case football didn’t work out post college, they liked the idea of him being a Naval officer and what that could open up for him later in life. Btw, the dad is a Gator fan.***ot ended up first team All-AAC for a ranked Navy team. I think he could’ve been in line to start for us this year. No idea why we didn’t pursue him.
I wonder how much of the success of these players is predicated on the fact that they go to a lot of these schools (Michigan being the exception) and are focused on more by their staff than they would have been at UM based on the fact that they are more talented or highly regarded as recruits than a lot of other people on those rosters.
Take Wiggins for example. Had he come here, he would have sat behind our safetys the last few years. This means he would have gotten less reps, in-game experience, film breakdown, etc. than he probably did at Cincinnati. Would he have projected as high had that been the case?
Is it me but I love when former Miami commits don’t amount to ****.
I dont root against 18 year old kids just because they dont go to miami. Especially 18 year old inner city kids that are going to school to get an education. As long as they arent disrepectful in their recruitment and dont just lie about why they dont like miami i think kids should go where they want and feel comfortable. Grown *** men leave jobs all the time do whats best for you!
Who asked you? Who said rooting? MFer I said I love it when they don’t pan out. I’m not keeping up with their careers.
Fck them & I don’t care what you do or don’t do.
Grown men also tough it out, get promoted, & end up running the department.
If thats how u feel f*ck it. Im just not built like that. The way i see it these kids have overcome obstacles and worked hard. Go where u want to go. What if UM doesnt have the major they want? Some of them want to get away. I left orlando and moved to south florida for college did that make me soft? f*ck no made the best decision for me. They could tough it out at the schools they are attending. With the **** show we have seen in Coral Gables over the last 15 years, can you blame a kid and their parents for being skeptical of going to UM? Some of these kids come from dirt poor and another university comes in offers 50-100k, does that make them bad ppl for accepting it? I look at it is as ppl should do what they want including you if thats what you LOVE then f*ck it.
Perfect name to captain the 2019 canes.
Nah it was wiggins and everyone on this board was in support of it.I think that was Pierre
Let's take a look at the comparable players from the respective class that ended up here instead, recruiting is a crapshoot.I like to look back on the less heralded South Florida kids that we hype here on CanesInSight. Some turn out good, some disappear, some become household names. Here is the latest crop. Feel free to add to the list:
James Wiggins, S, Cincinnati- Former Miami commit from South Dade. Member of Bruce Feldman’s “Freaks” list and projected high NFL pick. Suffered a knee injury in practice and status is unknown.
Zach Moss, RB, Utah- Former MIami commit from Hallandale. Teamed with his old QB (Tyler Huntley) to form one of the better backfields in the country. NFL prospect.
Tyler Huntley, QB, Utah- Starting QB for the #14 ranked Utes. Has battled injuries but a very dangerous player when healthy.
Joshua Uche, DE, Michigan- Former commit who is one of the leaders of Michigan's defense. Seven sacks last year playing behind Rashan Gary and Chase Winovich.
Devin Gil, LB, Michigan- Solid contributor to Don Brown's defense who is set to play major role with departure of Flanagan teammate Devin Bush. Story on him here https://www.detroitnews.com/story/s...xes-fatherhood-killer-personality/2125595001/
Josh Metellus, S, Michigan- The least heralded of the Flangan players who signed with Michigan, he emerged as a junior with 48 tackles and 3 picks. He is one of the captains on defense and a potential NFL player.
Diego ***ot, MLB, Navy. Getting buzz as a potentially special player. I'm still mad we didn't offer. Here's a pretty long story on his breakout potential https://t.co/7xkEnaSMW6?amp=1
Marquis Waters, S, Duke- Testing standout who really impressed me with his (IMO) Miami-caliber film after transferring to Atlantic. Under the radar now but has chance to emerge as NFL prospect.
James Pierre, S, FAU- Former Miami commit from Deerfield Beach is starting to generate some NFL buzz as a do-it-all performer in the secondary. Has had a winding road to FAU so will need to stay steady to reach next level.
Desmond Phillips, WR, Toledo- Finally getting his chance to start after waiting behind Toledo's surprisingly great trio of WR. Make or break year for him.
Jawon Hamilton, RB, James Madison- Another former Miami commit from South Dade. Started as a freshman at UCF but hurt his knee. Transferred to James Madison and has a lot to prove this year.
Billy Gibson, S, Southridge- Left Oregon after spring. Status unknown.
Kevaughn Dingle, WR, Iowa Western CC- Signed with USF, got arrested, beat the charges and is now enrolled in JUCO.
