Some updates on South Florida three stars (not Canes related)

McClellion was a really interesting prospect. This is my write up on him a couple years ago:

Jarques McClellion- 6’1, 180 pounds (American Heritage-Delray)- One of the more underrated players in South Florida. McClellion has ideal size and projects as a strong, physical presence at the boundary. Very good athlete who plays both ways. Excellent ball skills. Michigan State leads and he is a perfect fit in their system.

I appreciate the write ups you do on the players from S. Florida. I know this isn’t the thread but will you be posting the top prospects at each position for this year?

The local passes that are tough for me this year (All on tape, I don't see in person)

-Bad Pass
Poitier (worst pass imo)
Canion (if he was indeed a pass, he may have just not been interested/liked Auburn better, no idea)

-Puzzling
Parrish (in top group since Knighton went elsewhere)
Gowdy
J. Williams (basically one of the 4 wr I've listed so far needs to be in this class, this one may be grades? He's old for his grade)
Denis (may have just cold blooded chose Ore?? Not sure)
Henningham (lot of transfers...Grades?? No idea)

-I would take, but tossup and admittedly tough decision, esp if positional needs are met with others
Lloyd Willis (should be part of a big OL class at this point)
Neal (scheme fit?)
Balom (at this point with some misses, he's prob needed, so maybe bump up a group)
Pough
Royal
Hanna ( I like him more than most I guess)
K. Love
Betty
Martinez (recently showing interest)

-I'm cool with the pass...esp if positional needs are met. All are players though, and I think can play power 5.
Mcdougal
Garcia
Kinsler
Stanley
Delaney
C. Thornton
J. Lewis
Many More, especially at DB and WR.

And the only local take I disagree with is K. Wash, and I'll gladly be proven wrong. I just think too stiff for safety from what I've seen on tape.
K.love 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

The Utah duo are fun to watch. I'm not sure they'd be great players for Miami, but they are electric. Moss has elite burst

Thornton is good but he was a 4 star so doesnt fall in the underrated 3 star category. Snelson is good but dont think he would be better than a lot of our guys although he very well might be its hard to tell. UCF's system has been friendly to him. Not very familiar with McClellion and Tutu was exciting as can be however I understand not taking a guy that small

Snelson was a head case in high school...with Rumph here too i doubt we woulda took him

Looking back at the 2016 class where we landed Homer, it's interesting to look back at a couple other local names at RB.

Amir Rasul was a four-star from Coral Gables who's been a massive bust at FSU. McArthur Burnett was a three-star from the muck who decommitted from Miami, didn't do anything at UF, and has since transferred to USF to play CB.

Moss was initially rated as a two-star FB, but he's clearly become the best player out of that group. As violent a runner as there is in the country.

Moss was committed to us for a good while too. We ***** it up
We aren’t hurting for running backs, and it’s not the reason why we can’t succeed now. Missing on guys like geron Christian and Jaawan Taylor in back to back classes who went 3rd and 2nd round respectively and both former Miami offensive line commits hurt far more compared to losing a talented rb

Bennett was projected as a CB the whole time by every school I believe...UM/UF/FSU all wanted him at corner.

I think we will regret passing on Diego ***ot. Yeah, he’s at Navy but I think he will be big-time and he fits our system even at his size.
Facts, wanted him here big time. Was mature beyond his years would have made a great LB to take the job after Quarterman leaves this year

I like to look back on the less heralded South Florida kids that we hype here on CanesInSight. Some turn out good, some disappear, some become household names. Here is the latest crop. Feel free to add to the list:

James Wiggins, S, Cincinnati- Former Miami commit from South Dade. Member of Bruce Feldman’s “Freaks” list and projected high NFL pick. Suffered a knee injury in practice and status is unknown.

Zach Moss, RB, Utah- Former MIami commit from Hallandale. Teamed with his old QB (Tyler Huntley) to form one of the better backfields in the country. NFL prospect.

Tyler Huntley, QB, Utah- Starting QB for the #14 ranked Utes. Has battled injuries but a very dangerous player when healthy.

Joshua Uche, DE, Michigan- Former commit who is one of the leaders of Michigan's defense. Seven sacks last year playing behind Rashan Gary and Chase Winovich.

Devin Gil, LB, Michigan- Solid contributor to Don Brown's defense who is set to play major role with departure of Flanagan teammate Devin Bush. Story on him here https://www.detroitnews.com/story/s...xes-fatherhood-killer-personality/2125595001/

Josh Metellus, S, Michigan- The least heralded of the Flangan players who signed with Michigan, he emerged as a junior with 48 tackles and 3 picks. He is one of the captains on defense and a potential NFL player.

Diego ***ot, MLB, Navy. Getting buzz as a potentially special player. I'm still mad we didn't offer. Here's a pretty long story on his breakout potential https://t.co/7xkEnaSMW6?amp=1

Marquis Waters, S, Duke- Testing standout who really impressed me with his (IMO) Miami-caliber film after transferring to Atlantic. Under the radar now but has chance to emerge as NFL prospect.

James Pierre, S, FAU- Former Miami commit from Deerfield Beach is starting to generate some NFL buzz as a do-it-all performer in the secondary. Has had a winding road to FAU so will need to stay steady to reach next level.

Desmond Phillips, WR, Toledo- Finally getting his chance to start after waiting behind Toledo's surprisingly great trio of WR. Make or break year for him.

Jawon Hamilton, RB, James Madison- Another former Miami commit from South Dade. Started as a freshman at UCF but hurt his knee. Transferred to James Madison and has a lot to prove this year.

Billy Gibson, S, Southridge- Left Oregon after spring. Status unknown.

Kevaughn Dingle, WR, Iowa Western CC- Signed with USF, got arrested, beat the charges and is now enrolled in JUCO.

What ever happened to that guy Randle from Hallandale Beach (I think)?

Believe he committed to Temple.

That guy was a burner.

I don’t remember Jeremiah Dinson’s recruitment out of American, but he has turned into an outstanding player for Auburn.
