Some updates on South Florida three stars (not Canes related)

Dredrick Snelson from Flanagan has caught 106rec for 1,519yds & 15TD's in 3 years at UCF.
(Would arguably be the best WR on our team right now)

Jarques McClellion from Delray Beach had 25tcks & 7PBU's last year as a Red Frosh at Arkansas.
(Don't think if he would start but would've been good for depth)

Tyquan Thornton from BTW had 20rec 354yds for 3TD's his True Freshman season last year & projected to be a big time breakout WR for Baylor this season. (To me one of the bigger misses from the 18 class at WR).

Tutu Atwell from MNW had 24rec 406yds & 2TD's his TF season at LVille, he's their fastest player & is a dynamic playmaker for them.

McClellion was a really interesting prospect. This is my write up on him a couple years ago:

Jarques McClellion- 6’1, 180 pounds (American Heritage-Delray)- One of the more underrated players in South Florida. McClellion has ideal size and projects as a strong, physical presence at the boundary. Very good athlete who plays both ways. Excellent ball skills. Michigan State leads and he is a perfect fit in their system.

Awesome stuff revisting these guys !

Yep. And he would have done nothing in our system last year. So his development would be comparatively behind here at this point.
Probably, but his talent will have him in the league in 2-3 years.

You take the talent always & hope the coaches can pull their head out of their asses & make it work, but you always bet high on the talent.

Thornton is good but he was a 4 star so doesnt fall in the underrated 3 star category. Snelson is good but dont think he would be better than a lot of our guys although he very well might be its hard to tell. UCF's system has been friendly to him. Not very familiar with McClellion and Tutu was exciting as can be however I understand not taking a guy that small

Who did Thornton commit to over us in first place, was it UF? Before Baylor
Yeah he initially committed to Baylor in the Spring of 17, then after getting offered by UF committed to Randy Shannon in July of 2017, but then decommitted just a few days after & he didn't go on his OV to them, then re-committed to Baylor again lol.

The story with his recruitment was he basically just wanted to leave home, had a crazy baby momma he was trying to get away from lol.

I thought Baylor moved his son and the baby mother out there?

Thornton was an under the radar 3-star that didn't blow up until late in his recruitment, he didn't get a 4th-star until after he got more offers his Senior season. He wasn't a consensus 4-star his entire recruitment & was mostly unknown nationally his Junior year.

Snelson definitely benefits from the system he plays in, but he has much better hands & route running than just about every WR on our roster except for maybe KJ or JT4.

The local passes that are tough for me this year (All on tape, I don't see in person)

-Bad Pass
Poitier (worst pass imo)
Canion (if he was indeed a pass, he may have just not been interested/liked Auburn better, no idea)

-Puzzling
Parrish (in top group since Knighton went elsewhere)
Gowdy
J. Williams (basically one of the 4 wr I've listed so far needs to be in this class, this one may be grades? He's old for his grade)
Denis (may have just cold blooded chose Ore?? Not sure)
Henningham (lot of transfers...Grades?? No idea)

-I would take, but tossup and admittedly tough decision, esp if positional needs are met with others
Lloyd Willis (should be part of a big OL class at this point)
Neal (scheme fit?)
Balom (at this point with some misses, he's prob needed, so maybe bump up a group)
Pough
Royal
Hanna ( I like him more than most I guess)
K. Love
Betty
Martinez (recently showing interest)

-I'm cool with the pass...esp if positional needs are met. All are players though, and I think can play power 5.
Mcdougal
Garcia
Kinsler
Stanley
Delaney
C. Thornton
J. Lewis
Many More, especially at DB and WR.

And the only local take I disagree with is K. Wash, and I'll gladly be proven wrong. I just think too stiff for safety from what I've seen on tape.

Manny is a believer in South Florida. You will never get them all and it's an imperfect science, but he knows the value of local players.

Whats even more disgusting about your OP is how many of them were actual 'Canes commits at one time in the process and how it was our choice to stop calling/recruiting them.
