Pass rush discipline on this play was horrible
Pass rush discipline on this play was horrible
cooper is hurt...i mean he literally sat out **** near awhole game being hurt....if he has to push off on that foot you can see it hurts him.I wonder if Cooper lost too much weight
I don’t know why Alston jumped only to get faked out by VT’s quarterback on their first touchdown. Not leaving your feet and falling for that **** is taught to optimist league kids. How Alston didnt get a stock down for this game i dunno. He left 2 sacks out there that turned into 14 points.
Folks have a hard time saying Wes not having a good game still i see. If its a team that is gonna be a lil physical he is in problems...hes a guy that has to be clean to make plays. Seen progress but the lbs didnt play well this gae both of em...Kiko started off bad last game as well against USF.
* In reference to Porter at nickel. THEY HAVE NO ONE ELSE TO PLAY IT. He has to play that spot...because you cant play OJ there...Hill never played there....and Richard nearly blew his transmission the one time he had to do something Porter has had to do **** near every play since last game.
I wonder if he’s still nursing that ankle sprainI wonder if Cooper lost too much weight
That's a problem they could've mitigated in the Spring Portal...How Alston didnt get a stock down for this game i dunno. He left 2 sacks out there that turned into 14 points.

Man no way J Harris stock is down. He hasn’t done anything before this year and he has been solid so far. This is for the whole season, but mainly with a focus on the last couple games
Stock Up:
Ward (obviously props to those who knew how good he was….I loved that we got him, but thought he had some major flaws)
Horton
Arroyo
M.Bryant- (Needs more snaps somehow…Absolutely all over the field)
Aguirre Potential stud
D.Hill- (I think he’s been best DB last 2 weeks, best tackler for sure)
Bissainthe- (has taken next step)
Stock Down:
Richards (not terrible, but not good…Need Damari Brown back)
Cooper (Still will be an NFL player and has had a nice career, but just not as good as last season, interior not creating the holes we need to see)
S.Brown (all the tools, but a little soft?. may be nitpicking but between the drops and tiptoeing after the catch?)
J.Harris (not giving up on him at all…He’s definitely active but sloppy. Was he nicked up vs. VT? )
Almost included Kiki and Powell for too many missed tackles, but I still think they are plus players and will give them a chance to rebound. Both were bad in space vs. VT as many have pointed out.
Saved a potential game winning TD with his route stoppage.Good coverage for a guy that didn’t make David Lakes top 60 players on the team
I appreciate thisSaved a potential game winning TD with his route stoppage.
He played it perfectly & I'll explain why.
He speed turned played the fade on the Boundary side & while in phase, located the ball (on the slowmo replay you can actually see him look back to find the ball), got his hands up, face-guarded & "guided"/pushed the WR out the back of the End Zone.
Now most would think he was supposed to flip & play the jump ball with the WR, but if he does that, he likely gets Mossed overtop, giving the WR an opportunityto push off & it's a TD. What he did instead was identify & disrupt the route by pushing him out of bounds. But the key is that he didn't initiate contact too early while face guarding. That's what made it perfect, because had he just lunged forward & pushed him without looking back to find the ball, that's an easy PI.
It's an under the radar play, but given the circumstances, was actually a huge play that most didn't even notice.
Hey it was You and me both. That's a problem they could've mitigated in the Spring Portal...
As I stated back then in April, the decision to only take 1 Corner out the Portal was baffling & would eventually come back to bite us.
Agree with you on Markeith Williams.Thank god Bain is back. We could have used him setting the edge and crashing the QB.
Given the stock down discussion, there are guys I want to see more of.
I'm not advocating wholesale makeover. Just dial back snaps among the starters, dial them up among the second and third team. It's time now.
- CB, let's get Robby out there. Can he play nickle given his experience in the slot? Stafford, Mack?
- WR, Brown snaps should diminish while Jojo, Kirk and Carr snaps should go up. I still expect Brown to get back to form. But more competition will be good for him.
- LB: Kiko gets gassed. He's already a little slow and stiff (90% of MLBs are). More Chase, Bobby and Popo is a win/win for everyone.
- S, We're already seeing more of Williams and Patterson. Even more is justified.
- DT: Not sure who goes in between Moten, Horton, Scott. Maybe it's a gametime call based on whoever is playing best in practices.
- RB +TE: The pistol worked better for Martinez, we should keep adjusting so our RBs can play to their strengths. I'd even like to see some I out there. 2-3 TEs (one can split wide, one can act as a FB, whatever) gives us better big packages. At the same time, CJ is electric and what happened to Allen? Those boys need more opportunities. We need to get that run game going.
Imo this was the clear issue. I think the pressure was fine at times but they whiffed badly on sacks. The biggest concern is the lack of good NT and slow LB plays. We play two 3 tech DT's Messidor and Barrow and have no true NT. They played Moten a ton due to us getting killed on the runs but he is bang average at best. CJ clark has been a huge miss in eval.Everyone is roasting our DBs, but y’all don’t realize they held tech to 189 passing yards on 19/33. Our front 7 was the biggest issue last game. No pressure on the QB, getting there and whiffing, missing tackles, losing contain, and they ran for over 200 on us!! Our DBs sucked in run support, but they did okay in coverage given the lack of pressure up front.
CJ CLARK AND MARLEY COOK. LOLImo this was the clear issue. I think the pressure was fine at times but they whiffed badly on sacks. The biggest concern is the lack of good NT and slow LB plays.
