Some pre-VTech buzz

Is there any way Stacey Coley is more of a show than Luther Robinson???

And Coley is way more talented. If he is as good as advertised find a way to deal with him.

I honestly dont understand what mixed reviews there could be on Lane??? If the debate whether he can be a Freshman All-American??

You mention the staff missing on Cooper and then we have the Coley and Lane stuff

A mean son of a gun.

I figured he meant that. But my point is we need Mean son of a guns on the O line too.

Sure, but this isn't a recruit. Briscoe is already on the team. Now they need to find what role suits him. Big difference between a finesse offensive tackle that excels in pass protection and a war daddy defensive tackle. Briscoe appears to be similar to Jeremy Lewis, except his move was done much, much earlier.

. George Williams is not a factor due to character concerns, and Coley (who is still being monitored) is in the same boat. His issue is just as much about on-field character than off-the-field character. While you love Coley's competitiveness, he will show up teammates and coaches. Cunningham is still in the mix and could wind up in this class, although IMO it will only be Jean-Louis.

I mentioned this in another thread and fans still don't seem to understand this point. You just can't have a player on the field who doesn't buy in. Football is a team sport and if one player isn't on the same page it can be disastrous. Luther Robinson is actually a good comparison because of those times where he shoots the wrong gap and leaves a gaping hole for a back to cut through when the rest of the defense isn't prepared. A better comparison is Keyshawn Johnson in Tampa...he would run his mouth constantly (which is fine by itself) but then he'd run improper routes and do his own thing on the field. The Bucs kicked him off the team halfway through a season, and that was a year after winning the Super Bowl.

Yes, Coley is smooth with great ball skills, but his talent isn't even close to the point where I'd ignore the aforementioned issues to sign him. I think fans are desperate since we haven't signed a top receiver in a while, because Coley isn't the AJ Green/Julio/DGB that Canes make him out to be. He's a more talented version of Lockhart imo, and a top 10 talent at his position, but not a can't miss 5*.

Wouldnt Winslow be one of those kind of guys?? He worked out just fine at Miami

All those types dont fail

Thanks, D, awesome stuff.

Re: Dillard, I saw him recently and he didn't look fat to me. In fact, if he is supposed to be a power back - he could probably add some muscle. Regardless, it appears he has work to do in the weight room until next year.

Disappointed in Briscoe, especially in light of the "he's got all the talent and is a great athlete" type of comments. I had high hopes for him to be a stud DT. Most often DT to OL position changes do NOT amount to much.

Elsewhere, excited to see Burns and Carter here.

Agreed - very disappointing.
