@Cribby says name of interest

I’ve not got anything on that front. When I dug into the candle rumor someone I know did say Lewis would probably take it if he was targeted.

He was surprised Candle got that far along but once it leaked he said he thought he would take it since it made it to that point. So there’s that.
Thank you, Sir. I really thought that Candle was done or very close to being done when the rumor leaked.

I was thrilled to the point that I may or may not have watched 3 Toledo full games last night. Smh.

Didn’t something come out yesterday about Lewis turning down a P5 OC offer? I know it wasn’t us, but didn’t footballscoop post that? Or was it someone else?

This is what Kirby Smart said about $$ and coaching decisions: "It's not just about the money. It's only about the money."

It's not like Mario was shooting in the dark here. He knew we could offer Candle a half million dollar raise. He knew Candle was on the hot seat. And Candle interviewed for the job and expressed interest.
I believe Candle seriously considered it, you don't get to the point of offering someone that position if they are not open to it. My point is just that so many people on this board act like everyone wants to live in Miami and while I agree that a lot do (and I personally would want to live in Miami over Ohio even though I am not a big Miami person), not everyone does.

Good for Kirby Smart and that may be true for him and a majority of coaches, but that isn't true for everyone and I am sure even Kirby has other factors that would play into it. In fact, let's do a combination of these two... let's say after all cost of living, taxes, etc where calculated there was the choice to either live in Miami and make the equivalent of 1.5M a year or Toledo making the equivalent of 1.8M, how many people are choosing Toledo in that situation?

I think people are annoyed because all we've seen with the coordinators is weeks of tight secrecy, and when there's finally a crack it's nothing but an publicly discussed offer + rejection - the very kind of thing secrecy efforts are designed to avoid.
If these coordinator hires aren't homeruns, the secrecy is going to come across as very asinine and completely unnecessary.

So the question for this thread becomes:

Do you want Ponce/Coley now or do you want to wait while Mario continues to go big game hunting?

this process would of been a little less painful if ALL the Oregon coaches that came over were announced the next day after their bowl game.... but we for some reason even stretched that out as well.... it's like every coach other than Mirabal was a painful stretched out process...

I hear you on the first point. I'm not a big city guy either.

What a bunch of hamsters. Let the man do his job.
Who’s stopping him?

Are fans never allowed to ask questions or consider possibilities?

The two names to have been offered have both turned us down & the other two NFL names in Joe Brady & Ken Dorsey have seemingly made it clear they’re sticking in the NFL. Brady actually had his agent tell Schefter a month ago he wants to stay in the league, but at least on the Dorsey front we haven’t heard anything official although it appears he will stick with Daboll.

So are we not allowed to talk about that, or is it problem for us to maybe discuss other options?
