Who’s stopping him?

Are fans never allowed to ask questions or consider possibilities?

The two names to have been offered have both turned us down & the other two NFL names in Joe Brady & Ken Dorsey have seemingly made it clear they’re sticking in the NFL. Brady actually had his agent tell Schefter a month ago he wants to stay in the league, but at least on the Dorsey front we haven’t heard anything official although it appears he will stick with Daboll.

So are we not allowed to talk about that, or is it problem for us to maybe discuss other options?
you can't question what has been a long drawn out process

Why would a guy who’s spent his entire life in Ohio decide he wants to go be a Coordinator in Florida when he’s already a HC?

Those Ohio guys have strong Midwest values, they stay where they are for as long as they can.

Just like when people always throw Luke Fickell’s name out for big jobs, but he ain’t never leaving Ohio lol
I guess it would depend what his goals are. If he is driven and wants to be a P5 HC, one day, then it is looking less and less likely that will occur at Toledo. In fact, i wouldn't be surprised if he's fired at Toledo in 2-3 years. I think Candle needs to make some tough decisions or begin to win more games to build his stock up but i doubt he does with that Defense. Miami provides him an interesting opportunity because if Miami begins winning the ACC and making to playoffs, more programs will be intrigued by him. It is a risk, like anything else in life.

WHO posted their list of every G5 HC on here or another thread?? Repost it so we can dissect it

he may not be here long enough fro miami to make the playoffs realistically. id argue Oregon had more or at the very least equal talent on the roster than we did thanks to Mario but never made the playoffs and they play in a similarly trash conference. it isn't as easy as it seems to make the playoffs even if you won the ACC (which I think we could do esp this year)

45 names to dissect. Have fun!

Have been reading off and on online that one of Mario's biggest problems is that he micromanaged his OCs at Oregon including key personnel decisions. Not sure how much to believe and whether or not this is simply strike 1 out of several candidates or if Mario has a rep to be a micromanaging HC.

I hope everyone realizes that there are EIGHT NFL head coaching vacancies right now. In my roughly 40 years I can’t recall that many openings in a single offseason. That said we aren’t looking to hire some off brand coordinators that these other beta schools are scooping up. Most of our targets are likely candidates to join one of the EIGHT staffs still being assembled. Again that’s why I’m not going to worry unless this lingers long past signing day.

FWIW, Brady still has to be in the top three for this very reason.

There have been 8 HC openings 3 other times in the past 11 years, and 7 HC openings 5 times in the past 11 years. Now, some of those guys may move from one NFL team to another NFL team, but it's still a pretty high annual turnover rate.

I've said this before and I'll say it again, there is a shortage of "top-shelf" candidates, meaning guys with actual accomplishments. It's always possible for an "up-and-comer" to make a name for himself, but both NFL and college championships have been dominated by a few coaches only.

In the NFL, since Belichick (6 titles) won his first Super Bowl in 2002, only ONE OTHER coach in the NFL has won 2 titles, and that is Tom Coughlin, and he is retired. There are seven other active coaches to win once, and only two (the two most recent, Reid and Arians) are still left in this post-season.

In the SAME TIME PERIOD in the NCAA, Saban (7 titles) has dominated, and only THREE OTHER coaches in the NCAA have won 2 or more titles, Pete Carroll (now in the NFL), Urban Meyer (now a pariah), and Dabo Swinney. There are six other active coaches to win once, and only three (Mack Brown, Jimbo Fisher, and Kirby Smart) are still even active.

So that's a pretty small pool of head coaches WITH SERIOUS ACCOMPLISHMENTS in either the NFL or the NCAA. 8 active NFL head coaches with at least one ring, and 5 active NCAA head coaches with at least one ring.

I don’t disagree, still doesn’t mean Peetz should be under consideration.
no I agree but a large part of the reason he sucked was because Max couldn't hit a bull in the *** with a bass fiddle...Guy was HORR-I-BLE
