t rob taking a position coach job elsewhere would be very telling considering we could match any salary
What's so telling about it?

First, I don't think we can match what Bama and Georgia can pay.

Second, Georgia and Bama frequently turn position coaches into coordinators and coordinators into head coaches. TRob has a better chance to become a coordinator there, if that's his goal.

Third, Georgia and Bama have much more talent at DB than us right now. TRob can add many top draft picks to his resume.

Fourth, TROB is really good friends with Muschamp.

Right now, those schools are better than us. It's not that big of a knock on Mario if he leaves. We just have to build our program up. Once we do that, coaches will lateral less and we'll attract better coaching candidates.

We were led astray about paying top dollar, if we are whiffing on hires. (We may not be but we shall see)
Sometime it's not always about money. There are other factors. Look at a lot of west coast guys, they turn down pay increases because they prefer to be on the west coast.

Is it worth me uprooting my family for a extra $100,000? Some would say yes, and others no. I lived in Orlando, and hated it. I grew up in West Palm near the beach, so I enjoy that lifestyle. So I made a lateral move to Melbourne, even though I was in line for a promotion soon.

Listening to the Cyrus Moss interview, he threw out a significant nugget. He was asked essentially why Miami and he said with some of the coaches coming together and after talking with Coach Joe, Coach Belk....
Man. I thought I was hearing things when I heard that. Then I was like did he say Belk or Bell. Never heard of a coach Bell so… 😳
But don’t want to get ahead of myself and it’s don’t be Belk.

We're paying top dollar in the ACC, but we probably still don't have the money to compete with some of these SEC schools like LSU and, hate to say it, probably even Florida.

Also look at what some of these top schools are doing. LSU has maybe the top assistant pool in the country but hired 2 NFL position coaches to fill their coordinator spots. Clemson just promoted a bunch of positions coaches. UF fans are *****ing about whiffing on a number of coaching targets. Seems like we're in the same position as most of these other big time schools.

Ultimately, if we start competing for ACC titles every year, the University will commit more money to our staff and our OCs/DCs will get plucked for HC roles and our position coaches will get plucked for coordinator roles. If coaches think they can ascend the ladder by coming to Miami, they'll come here even if it requires taking a pay cut. That's our path forward.

Your presumption flies in the face of what we’ve all been told.

Believe the quote was “Money will no longer be an issue.”.

Heck, it probably costs an extra 100k year to live on the freakin west coast assuming everything costs 15% more.

Would be Corey Bell, but I believe Napier has retained him in a similar role he had at Miami under Shannon.

We were told we'll have the highest assistant pool in the ACC. I think you're fooling yourself if you think we'll have the same money to toss around as Bama and Georgia. We'll definitely have more than North Carolina, Florida State, Virginia, and Virginia Tech, but Georgia and Bama are in another league.

We need to build our program from the bottom up. That includes generating more money from donors. If we start consistently competing for ACC championships and become relevant again, we'll have much more money at our disposal.

But even assuming we can match their salary, certainly you can understand why a coach would lateral to Bama and UGA right now. They present a better opportunity to climb the ladder and build a resume.

Mario was hired to change that perception, but it'll take time.

I wonder if UGA winning it affects Schumann's decision any

If it's Schumann, I really hope the decision was made weeks ago and we weren't waiting on Schumann to make up his mind. Great way to be left at the alter with nobody else as a replacement.
